I used the gold label keratin research formula for the first time about 2 years ago. I followed the directions and loved the outcome; my 2c hair became a 1c-2a, was silky smooth and humidity resistant. As my hair grew out over the subsequent 2 years, I noticed that the effects were partially permanent... meaning my ends were straighter / fizz free compared to my new growth. I also noticed that the previously keratin-ed ends were somewhat curl resistant, which is very different than my normal hair. This is the only keratin product I've ever used that had somewhat permanent results (almost like a relaxer). That said, I was very much okay with this, and decided to repeat the treatment for a second time 2 years later. This time, I was in a rush and applied a lot of product on damp hair. I definitely used too much product because the fumes were horrendous and my hair was sticky / stiff after straightening. I couldn't tolerate the stiff/sticky hair sensation and ended up showering later that day. Unsurprisingly, this treatment didn't really work. I decided to reattempt the treatment for a third time a few months later, this time following the directions carefully and using the product sparingly. I just finished and my hair feels silky smooth (like my first application 2 years ago)! During application, I made sure to not use so much product that it would accumulate on a fine-tooth comb; I only used like ~1.5 oz on my whole head of long hair. All that to say, I recommend using this product sparingly to avoid (1) sticky/stiff hair after straightening and (2) horrific fumes. I also recommend waiting the full 3 days to wash. I will update later to comment on how long the results last.

I really like this keratin treatment. It leaves my hair feeling softer, smoother, and much easier to manage. It also helps reduce frizz and gives my hair a nice, healthy-looking shine. The clarifying shampoo is a great addition to prepare the hair before the treatment

This product WORKS. Hands down, it’s the strongest keratin treatment I’ve ever had, with such great lasting power. That being said, know that this is not for beginners. I would only recommend this is you’ve previously had keratin treatments, and are somewhat familiar with the application process. The directions are great: simple yet extremely explicit. Make sure you’re following them to a T. Don’t apply this too close to your scalp, as it will burn you. Don’t feel compelled to use the entire bottle unless you have very long hair. A little goes a long way. DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT INDOORS. And definitely don’t blow dry indoors. You’ll pass out from the fumes. They are incredibly strong. They’ll burn your eyes and your lungs. This is the price we pay for beauty, I guess. In order for this product to be effective on thick hair and unruly curl patterns, it obviously has to have a high percentage of formaldehyde. It does smell like chocolate at first, but then the chemical smell becomes overwhelming. If you’re able to flat iron outdoors, I would recommend doing this as well. Wear a mask, drink water, take breaks as needed during the blow dry/flat iron process. You might feel like giving up at this point, but know that you’re almost there! For maximum results, be sure to leave this in the full 72 hours. I was honestly amazed with how well this turned out, and I honestly couldn’t believe that I accomplished this on my own. It’s so much better than anything I’ve had done at a salon.

Did not work very well on my 4b Black American hair. It straightened my hair to an extent but it not to the effect of a relaxer. Regardless of this, my hair was super frizzy with any sign of humidity. It only lasted 3 weeks & was too much work for that. I went back to a relaxer because it permanent altered my hair but my hair was not straight. I think if was a waste for me honestly. Just do a mild relaxer if you want silky straight results that does not frizz up . With a mild relaxer you will still have a curl pattern but a light one and have actually straight hair when flat ironed.

i have been doing keratin at the salon and my hair is still saturated with the product. Considering this, my hair looks OK after applying this keratin treatment. But it is not great, just a little more manageable than usual. First time users, not sure it would work at all.

I have medium coarse type 4 hair that seems to drink every bit of moisture out of the air and cause my silk presses to revert within minutes. I tried a few anti-humidity products and still was not getting the bone straight look, so I tried this keratin treatment. My hair has never been silkier or straighter than it is after using this product. I’m not a professional and was able to do this treatment by myself. Results are bone straight and much smoother than when I was getting relaxers. My hair has yet to revert, even after drenching a section with water. The treatment requires high heat and lots of passes with the flat iron, but I foresee myself needing far less heat in the next few weeks due to this treatment. I have shoulder length hair and used the entire bottle, so if your hair is longer, you may need more boxes. Next time I do this treatment, I will be ordering a mask and goggles - the throat and eye burn was pretty bad. But the results are worth it!

Here are some tips to make the process go smoothly.... First of all i love this product!! I was so tired of fighting with my hair i was considering going back to a relaxer. So I tried this product first. I knew this would be a very long process so i decided break it into two days. Meaning i did the clarifying shampoo/detaingled/blow dried the night before. Then the following morning I did the keratin treatment/ blow dried/ flat ironed. I started at 7:45 am and finished at 10:30 am. My hair is 4b-c shoulder length. Do the keratin outside if possible and you MUST have a fan directly infront of you to blow the fumes from your face!! You will regret this process and it will be a miserable experience if you do not have good ventilation and a fan! You've been warned. Also, I have a VERY sensitive scalp it gets very itchy and inflamed with most products. I had absolutely NO issues with my scalp afterwards. It stated in the directions that you will need help. You will not if you are use to doing your own hair. I wore goggles and a mask because I did not want to be breathing in formaldehyde fumes and didn't want my eyes burning from the fumes. However, I realized the fan and being on my patio was enough and I had NO issue's with the smell. When you blow dry the keratin in try to use the wide tooth comb attachment. If you use a brush dryer you are going to pull out A Lot of hair because the treatment starts to feel sticky as it dries on the hair! This will go away when you flat iron it. The end result was soft, bouncy, silky hair! Absolutely beautiful! I washed my hair about 7 days later, but you can 3 days later...as long as you wait the minimum 3 days you're good. I still have texture after washing but no matting and massive shrinkage! There was no longer a "detangling process" and I was able to blowdry my hair with the fine comb attachment with ease!! It you wear wash and gos, your curl pattern will not look the same so you'll have to keep that in mind and decide if this is for you. Just watch YouTube videos of people wash and go after keratin with your texture hair to get an idea of your POSSIBLE outcome. Will definitely purchase again, and would definitely recommend! Btw- I took off one star because the price. $35 for 4 ounces is expensive. I have about a quarter bottle left.

I love the results, my hair isn't puffing up at even the thought of humidity anymore nor reverting mid silk press. And took 10 mins to blow dry after I was able to shampoo my hair again and has a healthy shine with no serum or oil. But the smell is really strong so best to blowdry outside when applying.

Leute kauft es euch das Produkt nicht. Ich würde nicht mal einen Stern geben wenn dies ging. Das Haar wird nicht glatt. Stattdessen verfilzt das Haar , stumpf und trocken. Beim glätten sitzt man ewig weil die Haare total verkleben und verfilzen. Habe es nach Gebrauchsanweisung gemacht und mich schon gewundert das es ins trockene Haar gemacht werden muss. Normalerweise kommt es ins feuchte Haar und wird mit einer Bürste nach 50 min eingefönt. Es bringt auch nicht den gewünschten Effekt. Normalerweise müsste es das Geld zurück geben, aber das ist ja hier nicht möglich weil sie das Produkt ja zurück geschickt haben möchten. Leere Flaschen habe ich leider nur , und keinen Effekt für mein Haar.....Nehmt dieses Produkt vom Markt bevor noch mehr Leute sich ihre Haare ruinieren

I have 3B hair and whilst the curls might look beautiful I have always found them such a pain to maintain and have always preferred straighter hair on myself (just personal preference). Before treatment I would blow dry, flat iron and then hope it wasn’t a hot day, a humid day or a rainy day. Well mostly I ended up having to wear my hair curly and restyling (which include rewetting,) my hair everyday. This is exhausting and not great when it’s cold in winter. The keratin treatment has given me pretty much straight hair that stays straight even on a hot day. I can pretty much just blow dry it. I’ll flat iron on the lowest heat but just to go over the hair and not in sections just the whole thing in about 30 seconds. That’s it (other than my fringe which takes a bit more time) The first time I did the keratin treatment with this product I only used half the bottle. Admittedly i had to do the treatment again two months later but for root regrowth. The rest of the hair didn’t require it so soon. If I do my fringe more regularly the rest of my hair can wait 3-4 months This product is easy to apply - just follow the instructions I’ve used relaxers in the past but they are harsh and it’s easy to end up with a kink. My hair is so healthy at this point especially after having had a nice cut. I plan to continue this treatment whilst growing my hair. I’m so happy I don’t have to wet my hair every day and I am frizz free. I don’t care about preserving my curls so I followed the instructions completely and my hair isn’t really curly now. I could maybe get to a wave. If you want to keep your curls and just have less volume and frizz - when you come to flat iron, don’t pass the iron over as many times as the instructions say and you’ll still have your curls. There’s some YouTube videos of people doing this which you may find useful. All in all this product is amazing and I will continue to purchase it.

So I've been there and done it with so many keratin treatments over the years. I followed the instructions, and when I got to the straightening part honestly I looked like worzel gumage, could not get a comb through the hair to straighten it properly so tried my best and washed it out. Straightened again and my blond hair is almost yellow. I'm hoping it washes out, it's still oily and sticky but better than worzel earlier. I just think im sticking to coco as nothing seems to compare (I do not work for coco either!) I'll come back and update as to how it goes after another couple of washes. Update, it turned my hair yellow, and hair does not feel any different so I'll be avoiding this.

I bought it as a straightening product, keratin treatment. The hair has become thinner, so that it stretches and breaks, it has become dry and tangled, now long hair must be cut to the roots! absolutely ruined hair! Never buy this product! It's awful 😖
