Southern Mountain Living Hardcover – Illustrated, April 1, 2014

Great book! The book is impressive as coffee table item with great photography and nice quality paper. I am about to build a house in the mountains of North Carolina and this book had tons of ideas. In fact, I will be patterning my house after many of the design and decorating ideas presented in the book. While planning my house, I have purchased over 20 books from Amazon on this topic, but garnered more from this one than almost all the others combined. It has become my go-to reference/idea book!

One might be fooled by the title of this book. Southern Mountain Living might conjure up images of dirt floors, outhouses and chickens in the yard, but Lynn Monday shows you how elegant and sumptuous living in the Highlands/Cashiers areas of North Carolina can be. This area has long been the vacation escape destination of the well-to-do from all over the South, and they live just as well in the mountains as they do at home. As much as I loved the houses in this book, I'm amazed at the amount of money people devote to decorating houses they don't live in full time. However, Lynn credited the late Charles Faudree for being her inspiration to do a book, so she had me at French Country.

Southern Mountain Living is a wonderful book. Great photography. EXACTLY what I'd hoped it to be. Stunning rooms full of great art, beautiful lamps, wonderful fabrics - great furniture, superb accessories - everything one would want to inspire one's one decorating. I'm so glad I bought this. I will look to see what else this author has prepared - clearly she's someone with very refined taste! Thanks, Lynn Monday!

This is a truly beautiful book with lots of great ideas. I will enjoy it for years to come. So glad I bought it.

This is a nice overview of mountain home interiors by a designer who has styled many homes near mine--in the Highlands and Cashiers areas of North Carolina. Mostly traditional, high-end styling. Well-written. Lots of photographs.

This book is okay, but I expected more.
