nice warehouse buy
I bought this to be able to tune in local tv. Weather wasn't nicest to mount, so set it up on my telescope tripod in living room to watch superbowl. Easy to put together, remote is iffy, but there is also a button on the amplifier to operate the motor. I was indoors so just moved it by hand this first use, easily picked up fox, which can barely do with a flat window indoor antenna. When weather is nicer I am confident it will work even better mounted on the roof line. This model didn't come with a mounting pole, but those are easy enough to make or buy locally.

Better picture than satellite
The installation went well. The biggest issue was trying to locate an antenna pole. Lots of places sell antennas but mounting hardware and poles are rare. I ended going to Lowe's and using a combination of horizontal chainlink fence section poles and 4.5 antenna poles to get the height I wanted. The nearest transmitters are 40 miles away. This antenna pulled in 31 channels without needing to be rotated. I'm impressed with the clarity of the picture. I haven't tried rotating it yet to see if I can pick up even more channels. I hope it holds up for awhile.

Update: Didn't Last 6 Months - No Visible Damage
This is my second Five Star Antenna. Update! And Last! After 6 months, it will no longer receive VJF channels (2 to 13). Indicator light (amplifier power) still glows and there is no visible damage to the antenna. Following is my first review: The first one worked well, but the mount, which is plastic, broke. It still functioned, but I decided to replace it with another Five Star (the antenna I first purchased is no longer listed on Amazon). Been kinda busy, I'm past the return window. To my surprise, this antenna wouldn't mount on the exact same pole. I made it work by clamping a smaller diameter chunk of pole onto the main pole. That shouldn't be necessary - why change the mount's diameter to begin with?. This antenna works almost as well as the first one. We'll see how long it lasts......

The receiving tuner on your television is key
Due to the 'hostage situation' with the ongoing battle between Youtube TV and Disney, I opted to replace a similar antenna we've had with this model because it was an almost exact duplicate to the one we had as backup for years. Installation was easy because of that fact. The resulting ability to receive over the air free broadcast of channels was mixed, largely from what appears to be as much a part of the television tuners on different makes and models. Here is what I found. The HD antenna was mounted in exactly the same place as the old one and positioned in the same direction as before. 4 different televisions were set to rescan available channels - 2 Panasonic, 1 Visio, and 1 Samsung. The results were surprising and your mileage may vary but here is what I found - 1) All TV's were scanned with the antenna in the same location and no rotation of it was performed. 2) The Visio picked up the most channels and was super stable on signal strength. The Samsung came in next, although it found fewer channels. This is the newest TV we own. The Panasonics were the worst by far. Not surprising because both are over a decade old. One did manage to pick up ABC but the signal strength never exceeded 60 percent in the best case scenario. My conclusion is this - the antenna is only part of the big picture (or lack of it) based on this simple comparison. Since the Visio has rather superb reception, I cannot blame the antenna solely for lack of reception. This so called 'smart technology' is riddled with problems that only a qualified expert on the subject might be able to address rationally. Last but not least, AI didn't solve the problems, as has become the defacto standard for everything it seems for most. I don't rely on AI and never will. I gave the product a 3 star rating because it fits what I found. The antenna worked well in some cases, not at all in others, even after making rotational changes to the direction it was pointed after the initial test. I'm keeping it, if that helps you decide whether to take the chance to see if it meets your needs.

Works great!
In a bad area in a valley and never could get one to work. I have lost a local news channel and now my local fox channel due to directv. Was time to try. Easy install. Picked up 61 channels. All clear and in HD. Highly recommend. The boy thing I can suggest is buy the 65.00 one suggested. Same antenna but with the mount. This one didnโt have one and I had to order one separately. Came out to same price

This antenna does an outstanding job.
Great reception when pointed to the tower. I have to use my TV to get the best signal. The downside is that you have to look at the antenna to make sure it's pointed right. This would be awesome if the controller could show where the antenna is pointed at. N E S W... I have bought 3 of these antenna in the last 10 years. Situation changes. The outstanding distance it picks up. I live in a RV so my travels change. But your antenna works anywhere. That's why I buy them. If you could have a system tell the direction where it was pointed. That would be awesome!!! Thanks!
