What's the best way to wash these? Can I put them in the washing machine without the colors bleeding?

I have two Kantha quilts already and wash in machine:cold water, delicate setting, line dry. Haven't had any issues with colors bleeding. I'm sure the vintage saris they are made from have been washed many times by hand. I truly love them.

What is the approximate thickness of the quilts? From some of the customer photos it looks like they are thin as head scarves.

the material is a little thicker that a bed sheet, and there are two sewn together. They are not thick like a "quilt" with batting we are used to here in the states. but they are a fun décor piece or a fun lap cover outside on a summer night or sleeping in warm weather. I do like them. Fun colors and well made! No two alike!

Are the edges finished/hemmed?

The fabric at the edges is turned under, but not really hemmed. And at the ends of the quilting stitches, the threads are just left dangling- but less than 2 inches, so not enough to secure them. However, at less than $15 for each twin-size blanket, they are OK.
