SMEG 2 Slice Toaster with 6 Presets and Defrost Function and Removable Crumb Tray TSF01SSMUS, Stainless Steel

I was going to return this before trying it as I read the reviews AFTER buying it; then I cancelled the return and decided to give it a go. Let me say, the first couple of days I toasted one-sided items, and it was working well - thus, my decision to cancel my return. THEN, today I put in regular bread for toasting, and lo and behold, it toasts more rapidly on one side, so if you want both sides toasted, you can expect one side to be burnt. The other side will be ok. If you toast to a normal setting you would like, you get one side toasted perfectly, and the other side barely toasted at all. I'm going to have to return it. What is nice about it: The toaster is big, the color is nice, it looks great on the counter, the holes are wide. I really like it and want to keep it, but it's not going to happen since it doesn't do what it is supposed to do very well - TOAST. My reason for buying a new toaster is/was just this reason My other one only toasts one side of the bread, so why would I spend this kind of money for the same problem. My search is on! If you know of a toaster that works well in the "toasting" department, give me a shout out.UPDATE: 5/14/17 - Well, my old toaster finally had to go and because I loved this one & it's look I decided to give it another try. The last one must have been defective for sure; this one works fabulously! So Far, that is. And I have high hopes that it will continue. I love this toaster. I would recommend it to anyone; just know that if it doesn't toast properly out of the box, ask for an exchange as you probably just got one that was defective (as I did the first go around). BUT, like I said, this one toasts perfectly - both sides evenly toasted when it pops out, and isn't this what we want. Not one that pops up and one side is toasted while the other side isn't barely toasted. Give this one a try. It might take 2 tries, but I love this thingnow.

The media could not be loaded. I've had this toaster for 4 months and I simply love it. Why? Because its so cute, makes my kitchen look nicer and toasts bread really well. The pink almost looks like a bubble gum color. The knob level goes up to 6 but I find the bread is toasted to my liking between the 2 and 3 levels. It has toasted evenly most of the time. I once put it on 4 and the bread was darker then I like. This toaster has a strong heating level so be careful it gets hot. There's 2 other buttons on the toaster one for toasting frozen bread and one setting for muffins or bagels. You just have to press a button for those settings. Is this toaster a splurge YES but if your looking for the cuteness factor in kitchen appliances this one is all that and more. I get a lot of use from it and just love how it looks next to my other SMEG appliances.

I’m in love with the look of this toaster. Too cute! Works great with all the functionality. Get it if you’re in the need for a toaster.

Ok….i tried really hard not to buy this toaster! I have always admired it … I even bought other toasters that I ended up not liking at all because of performance and durability. I am glad I decided to go for it and try this toaster! This SMEG toaster deserves a full 5 star rating! I could not be happier… it arrived on time, in double boxing packaged securely within the inner original appliance box in perfect condition. Besides being a beautiful toaster (as toasters go) , it is solid, easy to use and its toasting capability most importantly is fantastic! As soon as it arrived, the toasting began…we use our toaster throughout every day…so far…bagels, toast, reheating of day old crusty bread, waffles, English muffins, and croissants have all either heated or toasted really well and evenly…we have not tried the defrost option yet. We feel the toaster is of high quality, very easy to use, and love the champagne color! We intend to enjoy this toaster for a very long time! It’s a keeper!

We liked this toaster as it looks very attractive and we have a matching kettle. However, after a year it started to short out the electrical circuit. No other appliances do that in the outlet and we even if we try a different outlet we get the same thing happening. Clearly the toaster is faulty. This can happen with appliances and in such moments you rely on a strong manufacturer warranty. In theory Smeg offers a two year manufacturers warranty but try and get help to call on it? The Smeg website appears to have no info on warranties or actually on Smeg small appliances (one of the least functional websites i have ever seen from a large and reputable manufacturer). I contacted the merchant I bought it from on Amazon and are yet to hear back. I expect better service when I spend $200 on a fancy toaster.

Works great as a toaster, even more as a style piece in my kitchen! These (toaster and electric kettle) will always sit out on my counter!

I have looked and looked, researched and researched, tried and tried; and finally, I found the right toaster. SMEG if definitely the best. Thank you.

I did a lot of research before choosing the Smeg toaster. There weren't many reviews of this model to go on, so I was a little nervous spending so much for something that seemed to have very little market presence in the U.S. Fortunately, my bet seems to be paying off thus far.Although this toaster is quite expensive, it does a good job toasting a variety of breads. It takes time to get to know how to use it properly, and I've found it interesting to go up the learning curve trying to get the best results with various shapes, sizes and types of bread. The main challenge has been setting the browning level so that the bread surface toasts without the edges burning. I've had my smoke alarm go off a couple times as I've failed at that maneuver, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.My only quibble about this toaster is that it can be a little hard to get the bread out once it is finished toasting. You'll need a pair of wooden tongs to go with this model, or the dexterity to turn 2 wooden spoons into a makeshift pair of tongs. Also, watch the "chrome" surfaces on the toaster -- they scratch quite easily so you shouldn't put anything even slightly gritty or abrasive on top of them.
