This is so important as it can be hard work to swing back a forwards a heavy vacuum for any length of time. This weight is especially good for older people or anyone with a bad back! It is easy to put together, plug in and start. No complicated instructions. It picks up leaves and garden rubbish well and the collection bag (whilst smaller than some other models) does hold enough for a good 20 minute clean. It blows as well as collects. This is very useful to blow rubbish from awkward places and then hoover up. For example we blow the wood chippings out from under our log burner before collecting them. It has a shoulder strap which not only helps take the weight but also to swing the vacuum as you hoover. The negatives. It is noisier than other models. To start with we were concerned there was something wrong but we’ve had this now for over a year and the noise hasn’t changed - it is just noisier than expected but not so much that you have to wear ear defenders. The other slight negative is that it does pick up a few stones. We have a gravel section in the garden and we have to be careful it doesn’t collect all the stones as well as the leaves. All in all a very good buy for the price and it’s negatives are far outweighed by how light it is to use. What is the point when you can adjust the lever to blow and it blows leaves away with the bag attached **Q: Can this be used to pick up pine thorns from decking and grsss areas?** A: The leaf blower works best when what you are picking up is dry. If the grass is wet or damp I would suspect that the function is imparted. What tends to happen is that the part that macerates the bits gets clogged and after a while the machine does not pick up. So a cautious yes if everything is dry **Q: can this be used to blow the grass on the pavement away after the grass has been cut?** A: Yes it can be. Just put the lever on blow and into a pile or you can put on suck and suck it up. **Q: Want to pick up hedge trimmings/up rooted weeds left on large flat stones (2/3inches long). Will this item pick these up? Leaving heavier stones?** A: Yes I think it will. I'm very happy with the performance of my leaf blower.
