Upgraded from my 4-year old Asus UX501VW and can't be happier
I bought it when it was at $999 USD, and bought a 2TB SSD for the second SSD slot and 32 GB of RAM. This is the version with 90Wr battery and 2 M.2 slots. The laptop is the best buy you can make at this time. Period. I researched for about 2 months and I even watched the YouTube video "Do not buy Asus TUF A15" and you know what? The plenty of good and critical reviews helped decide even more to go for it. What can I say? The AMD Ryzen 7 4800H is a powerhouse that is rated 2.9 GHz but it goes from very low consumption at 1.4 GHz and 5W consumption checking with HwInfo and the GTX1660 Ti consumes about another 5W in idle condition. This beauty consumes about 10W in idle, and with the 90Wr battery and if you lower the screen brightness enough, it will last for about 10 hours! When it comes to power, the CPU will go up to the rater 45W TDP and while having all cores at 100% you won't get the full 4.3GHz al the time, it will be sitting around 2.9-4 GHz on ALL cores. The GPU will consume 80W and the cooling is enough, never saw thermal throttling very high temps or things like that, it sits at 75ยฐC under full load which is just fine for a GPU. Rock stable, I work on it more than 10 hours a day without any hiccups and gaming on it is quite enjoyable. It will play any current game at 1080p with all settings maxed out at 60+ FPS. I'm used to the fan noise (my previous Asus also did a similar noise on load, even more than this one at low load). At low loads, it outperforms my previous laptop and it remains very quiet in the Silent profile, or even the Performance one. The three performance profiles (Silent, Performance, and Turbo) are perfect for what you need (Silent for work, Performance for a balanced setting and Turbo for heavy usage and max cooling). The 144 Hz 45% NTSC screen is just fine, I can't notice any difference with my main monitor that it 75% NTSC. The antigloss screen is very well done and it's a joy to look at. This little beauty has all I need and more, rock stable and I could easily upgrade it without any issues. Loved the fact there is no hard-soldered RAM, you can change both RAM sticks and both SSDs if you like. Also, having an Ethernet network port freed me up a USB port (I had to use a USD to Ethernet adapter before). What else can I say? Get one and you will enjoy it for a long time. Trust me! And if you also want to add Ray Tracing joy, go for the one with RTX 2060.PS: I think the cooling is just fine, I saw the other video of the guy that wasn't recommending to buy it and the only thing I got is that if you mess with the cooling design, probably you will get lower temperatures on main components (CPU and GPU) but other components as SSDs will work at higher temps. The cooling is well designed to cool ALL components inside (CPU, GPU, RAM, SSDs). Asus has done a great job building great laptops for a great price. That's why they are completely sold out! Sure, there are many laptops that could be even better but this is the best bang for the buck and it is hard to find such a great combination of good things in another laptop of this price.

Amazing laptop, simple as that
It's honestly irritating to see one of the top reviews (the one with all the pictures) complaining about the panel. It's kinda like buying a pickup truck then saying it's not as fast as a sports car. I'll just call it as it is - you're an absolute idiot if you think that this laptop could have the best processor, graphics, display, and battery for only $1k. If this laptop were $3k, I would say the concerns were warranted. It's not. This laptop is an absolute steal for its value proposition. The processor is mind blowing. The battery life is better than you could find in even thin and light form factor laptops from years ago - in a gaming laptop. The video card plays basically anything I can throw at it, and the display is far better than anything on the market just a few years back. It manages to do all of this for only $1200.Yes, I have seen some ghosting when looking for it. Yes, my 144hz desktop monitor has better response times. Yes, my color calibrated 60hz dell desktop monitor I got specifically for video editing has far better color accuracy. In the end though, does that matter? Would you rather have had those things and paid $2-3k for this? When a laptop with this level of value is no longer an option in future release cycles, people will only have themselves to blame. I challenge anyone saying this laptop sucks to find something better for the same price.

Really good laptop for the money, only a few flaws.
I've had this laptop for a few weeks now, so I feel it's safe to write a review. Firstly, I use this laptop strictly for gaming, and only one game in Particular Star Wars: The Old Republic, which it runs fantastically on ultra settings. The speakers are really powerful for a laptop and you get the feeling of surround sound without using headphones. It does bet a bit loud when gaming, as all laptops do, but the heat is routed away from the keyboard so you don't get sweaty fingers. All in all, for the specs and price, you cant really find a better deal.Pros:Nice styling on the back.Self cleaning fans.Great, bright 144hz screen.Nice tactile feeling keyboard.Very nice hardware for the price.Cons:Bottom panel feels like cheap plastic.Lack of true RGB customization in the keyboard.Track pad buttons start to creak after a few days.If you're right handed, one of the exhaust ports will blow directly into your mouse hand, gets a little irritating. Conclusion: Buy it, it's worth it.

Pretty amazing machine for the price, just be prepared for the noise
PROS:Right out of the box the Asus TUF A15 impresses. It's gorgeous, build quality is robust and materials feel industrial. She's a tad on the heavy side, but totally within reason for a gaming oriented laptop.Performance is awesome. The Micron NVMe drive is fast and responsive--boot time is about 14 seconds. Game load times are snappy. The Ryzen\1660ti combo outperforms my desktop gaming box with an 7th Gen i7/1060 pretty handily. The touchpad is surprisingly responsive and accurate.CONS:Even a minor performance application fires up the jet engines of death (CPU/GPU fans). They're truly LOUD. Obviously the performance has to come at a price, and I think this may be it. If you're using any sort of comms, the sound of your fans will likely overcome any noise filtering/thresholds you have in place. They're THAT loud. Even with the swirling vortex of air being sucked into this notebook, it still manages to get pretty hot. Like, you can't sit it comfortably on your lap, hot. Especially if doing so will block any of the air inlets (I'm presently looking for some "Keep fingers free" stickers to place near them, as I'm truly convinced there's enough air moving through this thing that it could give my Dyson a run for it's money). Conclusion:Reading all of the review before purchases, I was a little nervous regarding the heat this thing generates as well as the screen quality. The former is definitely a down-side. The latter, however, I have zero complaints about. The screen is vibrant, clear/crisp and handles motion as good as the 27" 144hz G-Sync LG screen I use as a primary screen on my PC.If the fans were maybe 10 decibels quieter and the bottom of the laptop maybe 10 degrees (F) more cool, this would be an easy 5 star notebook.

Great for game development, which is a pretty heavy task...
Update: the touchpad is actually great but you need to go into windows settings-touchpad and change sensitivity to highest setting for it to work correctly, the next thing to do is remove the 2 finger gesture which messes with the 2 finger scroll up function... now its perfect.. just like my macbook pro(except my macbook pro doesnt have this beast 4800h)..OVERALLI'm an unreal engine developer, meaning I compile shaders (which is multi-threaded and relies on the number of cores to split up tasks), compile source code (again same thing), and run games in development mode. I also play games... On my desktop I have a 3800x and this laptop compares really nicely to it...CONS:(read the update) ... *editedPROS:This is a HIGH END machine you are getting for the price... I got the 4800h / 1660Ti and I'm running games on ultra (while plugged in), don't expect to get the max gpu power if you are not plugged in...PROCESSOR:the 4800h is the best bang for buck out there right now, 8 cores ALL running at 4 ghz on a laptop is amazingSSD:I dropped in a 2nd drive , a nvme ssd and now I have all the storage I need.MEMORY:Even with 16gb ram I'm still able to do what I need, and it's upgrade-able so in the future if I need I will upgrade to 32gb... I like the fact its already 3200mhz which is a GREAT speed for ram.BATTERY:Battery life is great, for the power you get, the battery holds up really well but that's mostly due to the intelligent throttling of performance...As a game developer, I highly recommend it...I haven't tried any VR development with it, but I'm sure it would be up for the task..

Tons of memory, easy interface, nice keyboard size, perfect picture, quick, no processing lag.
I haven't shopped for a laptop in literally 9 years. I had a trusty HP that was a solid soldier for that long, and was DEVASTATED by the prices of laptops now! Holy crow. Okay so here are the....PROS:Lightweight. Fits in my purse and diaper bag (gaming mom here), and isn't exhausting to carry around.Pretty. It's so sleek and cool looking. The lights under the keyboard glow softly in ever changing colors, and turn off if you're not using the keyboard to save battery. To turn back on, just hit a key. That brings me to the backlit keyboard. It's a must have for me. Who games in full light?? And...sue me for not always knowing where F4 is, or whatever.Gorgeous, huge display. Beautiful picture, crystal clarity, zero lag or runtime issues. It is exactly as fast as my 1G fiber internet allows it to be. In other words, almost as fast as breathing.SO. MUCH. STORAGE/MEMORYGreat price in comparison to its equals. There are other laptops that rival this one but they're all at least 700 dollars more expensive.I've seen reviews about the volume of the fan?? I literally don't notice it at all. I tried to pay attention to it to see if it bothered me and honestly can't see what the fuss is about.CONS: None. Haven't found a single one yet in 3 months of use. I will update this if I do!TLDR:I've researched 15 different laptops, read through dozens of comparison articles (Let me Type A so you don't have to). This one is absolutely the best for moderate gaming, general household use, and mobility. Tons of memory, easy interface, zero learning curve to use, nice keyboard size, perfect picture, quick as all get out, no processing lag.

Great value
Probably the best value laptop on the market right now. I was a little hesitant at first to purchase it due to all the reviews I've seen saying that the display is terrible. While it's certainly not great, it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. The colors do look a little washed out, but unless you're using this laptop for photo editing/content creation, it's really not a big deal. I use it for work, gaming, and schoolwork, so just changing the digital vibrance fixed the color issue for me.Build quality is great, much better than other gaming laptops I've handled in the past. Feels very sturdy.Battery life is as good as advertised. I get about 8-10 hours of normal use while working from home and it easily lasts through my whole workday.Runs pretty much every game I throw at it with no issues. I mostly play games like CS:GO and VALORANT on the lowest possible settings so take that with a grain of salt. I get around 250 fps in CS and 200-250 in VALORANT. The "poor response time" of the display that I've seen mentioned in reviews is a non-issue for me, and I'm a (relatively) high level CS:GO/VALORANT player (SMFC in CS, Diamond in VALORANT). I really doubt most people would notice it and it doesn't affect my performance in FPS games.Update: 100+ FPS in Monster Hunter World on high settings, 100+ FPS in GTA 5 on medium, 150+ FPS in The Witcher 3 on high5/5 buy this laptop

Fantastic value
Let's be honest, this is not the most powerful gaming laptop on the market. However for the price it will give the competition a good run for the money. It handles the games I play just fine at the native resolution and refresh rate, and it doesn't get too hot even after hours of gaming. The cooling is as impressive as the price tag. I haven't put the claimed ruggedness to the test, but it feels more plastic than I'd expect for a ruggedized device. There are a few small fit and finish issue, but not really worth mentioning against the value. The keyboard and touchpad are comfortable, and it has the conveniences you need in a gaming system (wasd are highlighted, the touchpad and Windows key can be disabled with hotkeys). The sound from the built in speakers is loud and clear, though I usually use headphones. The battery life is pretty good, and I appreciate that you can tune the charging to 80% or 60% to extend the longevity if you're mostly working on AC.Minor gripes: I wish it had one more USB-C port, the built in webcam is just OK, the power brick is enormous and gets very warm.

Best laptop
after removing boost cloaking and bloatware on it. i get 61-71 temps on high setting at 120-144 fps on most recent game ! i dont know why everyone make asus look bad. Very happy with the product. Screen could be better but i had a 60hz acer for 10 years so i dont complain at all.

Maybe I am being critical but...
This Laptop has a couple of flaws, and where it succeeds is nothing jaw dropping. Maybe I am being over critical so take my gripes with a grain of salt.Pros: Aluminum top is nice and durableBacklit keys feel pretty good not too mushyCompact formfactorCons: Hot and Loud (sounds like a hair dryer with CPU temps in low 80c range. I got a cooling mat and even drilled more vent holes in this thing with little gain. I live in Canada so a hotter area might be very unsatisfying.Power Brick is a bit too warmDisplay is horribly dim and washed out.I might have shopped around a little more in the future.
