Review: Beautiful book and great recipes! - First off this book is beautiful with the red lined pages — the Photography inside is perfect and it’s written very well. I’ve already started your marking with a little tags all the recipes I wanna make —this is phenomenal! I’ve been making my own pasta for a long time, but I just wanted some new recipes and this looks great! Review: Buy two! - This is the best cookbook I have ever seen for making varieties of Italian pasta and pasta sauce. I love this story behind it, preserving the heritage, and I'm a big fan of their YouTube channel. You need this book even if it's only for the first few pages of how to make basic pasta dough!

I have made some of the recipes and here's my opinion
Most of the reviews refer to the youtube channel which is truly a work of archival Italian female cooking history. They are not wrong in their praise. However, I want to let you know that I have made several (not all, not even the majority) of the recipes, and those that I have made are real life, perfect home-cooked food. The ingredients are simple and excellent. Plus, making pasta at home is fun (I confess I use my kitchen aide to roll out the pasta dough because I do not have the skill to hand roll it out. But, regardless, try it, hand rolling or not, it is fun). You should all try Monica's Pasta Basket with Ricotta and Lemon (page 227). I did not have the skill to make the baskets, but made regular raviolis and, along with the sauce recipe, I can honestly I have never had, or made, such an interesting, and at the same, time joyous dish. The ragu recipe on page 158 is also very good.I have purchased many Italian cookbooks which are just to fussy (I am not including Marcella Hazan, those cookbooks are extraordinary). I cannot recommend Pasta Grannies enough. As I work my way through the recipes, if my opinion changes, I will update my review.

I AM OBSESSED!!!
This book is so great for anyone - especially those with italian roots, looking to up their cooking skills!! I have always followed the pasta grannies youtube channel and have been cooking for 20+ years. This book is awesome because it details the background of each type of pasta, provides a recipe (includes measurements in grams, cups, and oz. (very helpful because a lot of European cookbooks are only in grams), and in depth instructions. It's very visibly pleasing and so fantastic to have all these recipes continue to be passed down from generation to generation. There are so many different types of pasta to choose from and many are very easy. There's also great detailed instructions on how to make pasta from scratch, which is a fun challenge. I hope that I become more efficient and I am able to learn these recipes and pass them on to my grand children!

Great sounding, unusual regional recipes by some tradtional regional areas.
I loved the book and these women who clearly know their way around pasta dishes. These women lived through World War 2 so they are individuals who survived difficult times. These recipes are really hands on productions but for those occasions when you have some helping hands, it will be the star of the meal. Also most dishes would freeze quite well. I have another book on regional Italian. Loki g and it ain’t all spaghetti and pizza…..this book can introduce you to some great new regional dishes

It's finally here and my ingredients a lined on the counter ready to go!!!!
I stumbled upon Pasta Grannies YouTube page about a month ago and fell in love instantly with these women. When I realized there was cookbook I ordered immediately. My cookbook arrived a few days ago and I couldn't be happier. I collect cookbooks and this is will definitely go in the favorite cabinet. My favorite part of the book is the short but intimate look at the lives of some of these grannies. This book is beautifully done and I can't wait to cook my first recipe. I'm excited to have YT channel to reference when I get ready to roll the pasta. The recipe conversions are listed and don't look difficult and the pictures are beautiful. My husband is Italian and Sunday's are our pasta days and has been for almost 30 years. We're both anxiously awaiting this upcoming Sunday as we will both be in the kitchen hand rolling our dough and trying one of the many recipes we've picked out as a must try. I will update this review after I've tried a few of the recipes.

Excelentes recetas
Me gusta cocinar y este libro es muy interesante, no solo por las recetas también por hablar un poco sobre la abuela que la prepara.

A masterpiece showcasing Italy's culinary and cultural heritage through the Grannies
This is a book about love, family and cultural heritage. Vicky Bennison delves into the lives of these 'ordinarily extraordinary' women and their families who are still managing to keep a tradition alive that is slowly being lost. I bought this book as a result of having followed the Pasta Grannies story on YouTube and Social Media and have fallen in love with the grannies - and the vivid rawness and reality of their kitchens, gardens and homes. There is nothing fake about the concept and the book truly portrays this. The book not only tells a story about how these grannies live and cook now and how food is vital to keeping a family together. It also tells the stories of the past and the grannies' 'once upon a time' in a way which is both endearing and emotional. The recipes are wonderful - again, nothing fake. Obviously, with a granny that doesn't weigh a thing they have had to be tested and constructed for a book and the home cook. But they still remain recipes that are strictly ingrained in the concept of authentic Italian home cooking, using the concept of frugality and 'whatever is in the fridge' as key. This book is about tradition and I truly believe that had Vicky Bennison not gone in search of all these incredible women, they would slowly have passed on without their stories and traditions being remembered. Bennison has created a work that is a fundamental part of Italy's culinary and cultural heritage. It is a masterpiece.
