Olympus AS-2400 PC Transcription Kit

When I was tasked with transcribing the five, two-hour digital taped sessions, I knew I needed help. I was immensely delighted to find that the Olympus digital recorder had the corresponding transcription kit. It is amazingly simple to use and I would highly recommend it.

This machine requires software downloaded from the Olympus website...but every time I tried to get the software, following the instructions exactly, an Error page came up, saying the site couldn't find it. Tried Chrome, Safari--same error message. This is evidently an old machine no longer supported by Olympus and it's useless without the software. I am returning it to Amazon.

This kit works very well. I'm still playing around with the features, but it does a good job of enabling me to go back and forth through a dictation, slow down the speech for difficult words or phrases, and adjust volume for best comprehension.

I bought this in October 2015. Most of the software functionality does not work with the Mac, it only works with Olympus' proprietary files, but does not mention that. If you upgrade to El Capitan, you must upgrade your software to get it to work at all. Sound not good for medical transcription. The cord is unbelievably long and tangles up I will be ordering another one

This device is easy to use once you get started. Be aware that there is NO disc involved in this kit. I learned this the hard way. I went through all the normal channels before calling the number in the info paperwork. It is a downloadable program. Other than that, the kit is well worth the money and it is a good investment.
