It works
Just received this product and set it up today. It did not work as described after following the setup directions and trying it at varying distances from the access point. I called technical support midday mountain standard time and was instructed to leave a message but no response as yet. My first impulse is to return it for refund, but will give them another 24h to reply. It is a small and diminutive product that plugs directly into the wall and boasts a very convenient few steps to set it up. I bought it because my Hawking extender went haywire and because my access router is Comtred, probably not a good reason. I will follow up with further information once tech support either declares the unit defective or shows me that I misread their simple 4 step directions. This is 2 days later than the review above. I received replies this AM from customer support via both an email and phone call, 48 hours following my first call to their customer service voicemail. (No one answers calls during business hours, but require a message). In my 2nd call, I suggested that a bad review on Amazon about poor tech support might effect their sales. I hate to threaten, but informed consumers can be a potent force. Anyway, with the tech's help we determined that the WPS button on my Access Point was not functioning. A simple call to my ISP had that repaired within 30 minutes. But still the Comtrend Extender would not pair with my AP. The tech walked me through the setup another 3 times while we learned that the Extender has its own boot up sequence that was not described, but must complete before subsequent steps can be performed. Once paired, I moved the extender 40 ft from the AP (plus 2 interior walls) as the maximum distance to still remain connected. Since I bought this so I could use my iPhone for music and news on my WiFi throughout the house, porches and immediate yards, I was able to stay connected to the Extender up to 40 ft. and at least one interior and one exterior wall. So, it does what it is supposed to do. As with all internet and WiFi, there are many variables effecting your experience: broadband speed, distances, barriers, competing media load, interfering radio waves, etc. It's a useful device to have if you need to cover big living space or outdoor reception.

Finally high speed at my workstation
My router is upstairs. I plugged one of these in next to it, attached a cat5 cable, plugged in the other downstairs plugged in my laptop using another cat5, now I have 100 Mbps at my laptop. WiFi gave me 10-50. Totally unreliable. Now I have a consistent connection. I ended up buying a Comtrend G.hn too. It connects next to my media center downstairs and gives me 50 Mbps WiFi to any devices downstairs. Finally, I can stream consistently with my Roku and Tivo.

Problem with setup
The media could not be loaded. I’m hoping I just got a faulty unit, because if you watch the video I attached you’ll see it’s acting very strange and not at all like the setup instructions indicate. I’ve contacted tech support and will update this review if they’re able to help get it working.

Works but its annoying to setup.
The initial setup is was easy but if you have to modify the SSID or change the incoming networks, it sucks. I had to download Firefox to get it working right. They worked fine. Nice coverage. I bought a Nighthawk AC2600 yesterday and the router eliminated the dead spots in my house. I throw these wifi extenders in a box in my gararge.

Pros:* The indicator lights as to signal strength from the core router are helpful* Supports both 802.11n and 802.11ac* Supports WPS for setup, although I ended up using manual setup so I could change the SSID names from the defaultCons:* a little confusing to setup, the quickstart guide was not really complete enough, however the online pdf with the full manual clarified things; I strongly recommend checking out the full product documentation to learn a bit about it before setting it up* performance is not as good as I had hoped, performs about as well as a cheaper product I already had (although that one was not 802.11ac)* price is on the high sideAll in all a solid product, well built and decent performance. Not as fast as I'd hoped, but that could be a function of placement and distance from core router it is repeating.

Easy to set up and repeater works great.
I installed it as a repeater and it took me ten minutes to have it done. Performance of the router is good and it extends the signal a great range.
