Emerson CQC-K Pocket Knives, Manual Opening Folding Knife with Wave Shaped Feature, Multiple Styles

WARNING! This blade comes with a seriously sharpened edge. Upon arrival I inspected the knife for it's quality given the south of $100 price. For its probable uses this knife gives you an affordable yet high quality components fitted into a smaller EDC everyday carry blade. The D2 steel is favorite of mine due to it's a overall Rockwell hardness rating and it's easier of putting a fine edge on it when needed after hard use. D2 is a perfect and affordable steel when a $400+ blade just isn't practical when children need to eat and buying this years schools supplies is right around the corner. G10 scale is also impressive since most knife makers at higher costs are also using it. Stainless liners and a solid lock up are also a plus. The Emerson Wave feature. Here's where it gets scary. First time out of my jeans pocket I cut two fingers and required bandages for bleeding control. Please, practice the opening carefully with what ever pants, slacks, jeans or hikers you plan on carrying this knife in. It's critical to learn this procedure properly without needing first aid essentials close nearby. My first attempt at deploying the blade was with jeans that a bit of elastine in them and pocket stretches when clipped into place. This caused me to struggle a bit since the knife clip is very tight against jeans pockets. Hence the two slices fingers. Aside from needing to practice the deployment of this blade carefully I'm certain you'll be impressed by this Kershaw addition to its manufacturing inventory. Stay safe!

Great knife at an even better price. I always wanted the original Emerson wave, but at $250 or so couldn't justify it being another EDC addition. Now that Kershaw has the rights to produce it, you still get a good quality knife at a much better price... especially when you have others and you don't really "need" another knife. Beware, you will have to practice withdrawing this from your pocket to open properly. You will also need to practice taking it out of your pocket and keeping the blade closed! Yes it will open that easily. But practice on older heavy duty pants, to avoid ruining the corner of thin pants/shorts as you need to 'catch the wave' on the pocket corner. You will have to be cautious at first in handling it, and the blade locking feature is my least favorite so needing to adapt to it, as opposed to the Benchmade I used to carry. The blade seems plenty sharp, I'm really really resisting cutting anything and everything in sight to preserve the edge, I bought this a personal defense EDC not a box cutter. The overall size and thickness are easy in all my pockets so far. Two color is great.

Good knife at any price; amazing knife at this price. Can be opened easily by snagging the hook on the edge of your pocket, using the thumb disk with either hand, or by "waving" it open (gripping the rear end of the handle and using the weight of the blade and a snap of the wrist to flick the knife open). The bead blast finish on the blade is very classy and resists scratches better than a polish finish or a black coating. The blade finish feels slick (like a Teflon pan), as if it would slide through tough material like hemp or leather without binding. The curve of the blade packs a lot of effective edge into a shorter overall length. It's heavier than a comparable knife of this size because the frame lock side of the handle is solid stainless steel; the other side is thin steel and thick G10. The G10 side feels high quality, like the handles on the spyderco military and barong I've owned. The knife handle feels excellent in the hand. It is thick and heavy at the bottom of the palm, but thin and ergonomic between the thumb and index finger. This lends a fluid and facile feel to the blade; it feels like a scimitar. The knife is heavier than similar sized knives one side is solid stainless, but it's not burdensome. The lockup is rock solid, and the part of the frame that composes the lock is very thick. It's a good knife for EDC if you wear sturdy pants. Otherwise, it would be a great knife for the tackle box, tool box, or glove box. Big downside: you can't use the pocket snag to open beer bottles. I have a spyderco delica with the licensed Emerson opening feature, and it opens beer bottles better than anything else. Doesn't work with this knife because the opener is shaped differently. Not a deal breaker, but once you get used to the spyderco...

*UPDATE* After carring around for almost a year now, im very use to this knife I don't worry about accidental deployment as much because it just feels second nature to me. The pocket clip is by far the sturdyest pocket clip on any knife I have carried even pricier knives don't compare. I would deffently recommend!!! Extremely sharp and reliable. I like the thumb disc better than a thumb stud after getting used to it. The knife feels to be better quality than the price tag feels a tad heavy in your hand which can be a good or bad thing given your preference. It has a very sturdy feel. The wave feature is amazing. Need to be a little careful when pulling it from your pocket at the end the day because of accidental deployment. But once, use to wave feature this knife is great.

A great pocket knife that I use daily and this far has remained incredibly sharp. I really like the fast deployment too

I bought this knife, the older version with 8Cr13MoV steel, back in 2019. It's now 2025 and I've carried this thing nearly every day! It's been a low-maintenance pocket knife. I slightly adjusted the pivot screw once, and had to re-tighten the clip screws on one other occasion. Beyond that, just sharpening, and the occasional lube with basic mineral oil. After 5 years of carry the blade remains centered. The lockup is solid with zero play, and the liner lock lands well within its range of travel. The detent that holds the blade closed still functions flawlessly. Some of the screws are cosmetically worn down due to friction in the pocket -- a really cool look, in my opinion. The blade finish is like new except for one errant sharpening mark, and the laser etching is in fair condition. If I look very closely I can see some tiny spots of surface discoloration on the metal parts of the handle (note that it was exposed to sweat every day with no cleaning). In addition to the impressive technical performance, the knife has been a trustworthy companion. Initially I was worried about its highly-visible stance in the pocket and the aggressive looking Emerson logo. But it hasn't been a problem even in a non-permissive office environment. The weight will cause certain polyester or light wool dress pants to sag, but with the satin finish it looks fantastic in standard cotton slacks. A great knife and I would buy it again in a heartbeat if I lost it. I'm sure it's even better with the new D2 steel option.

Great material and quality, sharp, comfortable to carry and handle

I own a lot of knives from various makers, but I've found myself partial to knives that feature the wave opening feature for work. Being able to open and close a knife quickly one handed out of the pocket comes in handy well outside of just self defense concerns (which really isn't ever one of my primary ones buying a blade, but it doesn't hurt either to be capable in that department) My favorite wave featured knife, also from KAI is the Zero Tollerance 0630. It's a tank of a knife with great steel and very useful blade shape for general EDC tasks. But, there are places I don't want to pocket any knife that climbs abouve the $100 range after having one slip out somewhere during the course of the day. And that is where this knife fits in perfectly. Compared to the ZT, this knife has a slimmer profile in pocket. A big bonus. The lockup is solid and confidence inspiring on line, which is always a worry for me in budget folders. But here, absolutely no problems. This knife does ride a little high out of the pocket. But in my opinion, not so much as to be rediclous or obtrusive, and enough that it's easy to draw. People will be aware you are carrying a knife though with a stock clip. The steel here sometimes gets knocks against it. Personally, while I do like my super steels, I also see the value here in having a steel that will hold and edge fairly well in normal use. It isn't terribly prone to chipping from my use. You will have to touch it up more frequently than a higher end steel, but the trade off that I think gets overlooked is it's vastly easier to do that touching up and won't require diamond stones or higher priced ceramic or glass. So while you do love my knives in M4 and M390, and it's handy to have them during a busy week where I don't have the time or inclination to sharpen them, it's also nice to have steels around you don't need to set aside a large chunk of time to do that sharpening. If you are curious about a wave opening knife, this is a perfect entry model. Consider the blade shape and length of this and the others models in this line for what you intend to do. If you need a solid work horse that won't be a tragedy if it gets lost, this is also a perfect knife for the job. I most likely will purchase the other knives in this line that come abouve the 3.5 inch mark. But as the first purchase I have nothing but praise for this one.

Tolles Taschenmesser. Auch wenn es in der Preisklasse sehr viel gute und auch bessere Konkurrenz gibt, ist das Messer mit seinem "chisel grind" (einseitiger Anschliff) und dem Emerson Design mit Wave Öffnungshilfe eindeutig etwas besonderes. Wer also kein Vermögen für ein "echtes" Emerson ausgeben will, sollte hier zuschlagen. Die Verarbeitung war bei meinem Messer durchweg gut und der Stahl (8Cr14Mov) ist durchaus brauchbar. Den Stern Abzug gibt es weil: - Die Verpackung beschädigt war. - Der Preis stark schwankt und teilweise zu hoch ist (Intervall 40-70€) - Der einseitige Anschliff nicht für alle Schneidaufgaben ideal ist

Das Kershaw-Emerson CQC 5k entspricht vom Design her den weitaus teureren "original" Emmersons, vom Preis her sowie den verarbeiteten Materialien geht die Sache hier aber ganz klar richtung Kershaw - was ja ansich schon mal eine gute Sache ist. Sprich: Einwandfreie Funktionalität, gute Materialien, vernünftiger Preis. Im Einzelnen: - Die schwarz beschichtete Drop-Point Klinge ist 7,6cm lang und besteht aus dem chinesischen low budget-Stahl 8Cr14MoV, der hier die etwas ältere 8Cr13MoV ersetzt. Der Stahl ist rostträge (also nicht gänzlich rostfrei - etwas besser wie die alte Version) und hat 85-59 HRC. Schnitthaltigkeit und Schärfbarkeit sind gut - kein High-End-Stahl also aber ziemlich gut. - Der Griff liegt gut in der Hand -alle 4 Finger finden bei mittelgroßen (Gr 9-10) Händen Platz. Positiv sind neben dem rel. dicken G10-Material hier die Fingermulde und das Jimping das neben der Daumenrampe auch das G10 oben betrifft. - Der Pocket-Clip ist für Links-und Rechtshänder in der Tip-Up-Position umsetzbar. - Funktionalität ist einwandfrei: Keinerlei Klingenspiel, Öffnungsvorgang per Thump-Disc (die runde Scheibe ersetzt hier den Daumenpinn und der Emerson-Wave (der "Haken")öffnet das Messer automatisch wenn das Messer aus der Tasche gezogen wird) funktioniert manuell recht gut - das "automatische Öffnen" beim Ziehen des Messers aus der Tasche klappt nicht immer - ist aber für mich kein Kritikpunkt. Im geschlossenen Zustand sitzt die Klinge fast mittig - nicht 100%, aber was solls. Der Liner-Lock sitzt 100%ig, überlappt also komplett und lässt sich auch gut wieder lösen. Schärfe out-of-box war gut aber noch verbesserbar. Kritikpunkte meinerseits wären höchstens das ziemlich stattliche Gewicht (für die geringe Größe) und die etwas breite Bauweise. Letztlich führen aber neben der guten Funktionalität gerade die zwei Punkte dazu, dass sich das Messer extrem robust und solide "anfühlt" - Fazit: Schickes kleines "Tactical-EDC" das für den Preis so gut wie alles richtig macht - Preis-Leistung auf Kershaw-Niveau und auch hinsichtl Verarbeitung deutl. besser wie z.B. einige Böker- oder S&M -Modelle in dieser Preis-Kategorie. Top ! Nachtrag bez. Preis: ...bei mir waren's 48,- , die inzwischen fast 60,- sind schon deftig, anderenorts bekommt man das Messer auch um die 45,- In der 45-55,- Kategorie gibt's neben den Kershaws auch von Real Steel (Real Steel H6, H6S und H5) einige sehr gute Messer - hinsichtl. Materialien sind diese nebst der ebenfalls sehr guten Qualität sogar noch ein stück besser (Sandvik 14C28N für unter 70,- gibt's nur sehr selten...).

Está padre la navaja, ligera y las cachas tienen buen agarre. Ventajas: - El color negro la hace lucir muy bien y discreta. - El mango tiene un buen diseño, el soporte para los dedos pulgar en la hoja, y el índice en el mango, a la hora de sujetarla es excelente, el clip no molesta para nada al apretarla. - Las cachas tienen un acabado semi rugoso, lo que les da un buen agarre, sin resultar agresivo al tacto. Contras: Le pongo dos "peros": - La hoja no es de apertura asistida (eso quedó claro desde antes de comprarla), por lo que el mecanismo manual al abrirla, es un poco duro, espero que con el tiempo se afloje un poco; - El clip sujetador, realmente hace su trabajo, tanto para guardar y sacar la navaja de la bolsa del pantalón (uso jeans), batallas un poco, está demasiado apretado el clip para mi gusto, digo, ten la seguridad que no se te va a caer o resbalar de la bolsa por ningún motivo. Por último, y eso pasa con la mayoría de los cuchillos y navajas, la hoja no viene completamente afilada, así que habrá que darle una pasada en la piedra de asentar. Le pongo cinco estrellas, porque la relación calidad/precio es buena. Es un producto que puedes usar diariamente, sin miedo a que se dañe o se rompa, solamente tener un poco de cuidado, ya que tienden a desarrollar pies cuando las dejas solas y se van :-) Agrego unas fotos, espero les sea útil la reseña.

Canivete bem construído e tal... mas a lâmina dessa versão chinesa é muito mais estreita que a dos os canivetes originais (americanos). Este aspecto decepcionou...
