46” X 36” X 15" White Aluminum Awning

Reason for 4 stars is not enough instructions.And awning is not layed out and predrilled.The center brace was 3" too long.Had to saw it to fit.There are 10 long mounting screws and 10 long nylon inserts.To mount it right on a premanufactured home.Need to place awning over door where you want it and mark all screw locations.Then drill holes little less than nylon inserts.Push or hammer them in.Then mount awning.Lot of lay out work in this awning in order to keep in in square.No way one person job to do it right.This awning can be mounted on homes with outward opening doors or storm doors.Plenty of clearance.Awning is well made with quality materials to last long time.And looks good.Won't beat it for price.

I'll start by saying: It was returned. I read all the reviews.... ahemmm. Quality is nonexistent in my opinion. If you don't realize what the gauge is in terms of sturdiness and thickness, do yourself a favor and find out before ordering. There is one support bar down the middle from back to front that you screw on yourself, and that is the only thing keeping it from flapping, as the sides are very weak and very flexible, also. The other thing I must have missed in all the reviews and product description was the main canopy is in two pieces. They cut it 46 x 12 and 46 x 24 to make the 36" - this makes it much weaker and there is not much holding it together other than the sides and the middle bar I mentioned. Next is the finish -- a very thin, nonhardened material that felt like plastic. It came scratched so it was evident that it peels easily, and when I ran my finger over the scratches more coating just rubbed off -- incredibly thin and not adhering. Now comes part two of this review: Damaged before it was shipped. The box was in perfect condition. I opened it.... and beware because all the edges are very very sharp , so take it outside on the grass or a blanket and wear heavy gloves, it is SHARP. The brown paper they had between a few pieces had moved in packing ultimately causing the scratches. There wasn't a piece that didn't have a ding or a dent, mostly around the rivets, the main support piece that is supposed to lay flush up against the house was twisted, dented, scratched, and a bit warped because they forced it together incorrectly and had to twist and bend it to get the end to line up.... all this did not happen in the shipping box but before. I tried to pop and push the dents out where possible to no avail.... they were permanent and no way I wanted this thing flapping in the breeze on my house. I feel it is very high in price for what you are getting even if it weren't damaged. The company did have FedEx pick it up at my house, FedEx had the label, and away it went with the company refunding my money fully through Amazon. I buy a lot on Amazon and rarely have to return anything, so this was a major disappointment. I was hoping it would work and I intended to have a custom one made for over the sliding glass doors, oh, well; the reviews continue to astonish me.

We were pretty excited to get this awning so we could give our dogs some cover over their doggy door entrance especially living in rainy Oregon but as we opened the shipping box we noticed it had dents. The shipper should pack foam or something else to keep the fragile aluminium ends from bending, but it was an easy fix as we took some pliers and a hammer to straighten it back in place. Also from lack of packing material, some areas had scratches so we were disappointed but my husband decided we should keep it so we put it together and put it up anyways. Trying to install it was definitely a two person job and it took my husband and me about 30-40 minutes from start to finish. The instructions were two pictures and it reminded me of Ikea's style of instructions only with less pictures and instructions but on the positive if you can put together Ikea stuff, you can do this easily. The pieces were all the correct size but flimsy enough that we hammered some warped pieces back in place but once it was put together it felt solid so overall i guess we like it as it fit well over a 36 inch door.

I really can't understand some of the bad reviews on this item as all the instructions you need to assemble this awning are right here in the numerous pictures on this website --- it really is that easy to put together. If you're really lost then there are YouTube videos to watch which show similar awnings being assembled and installed. It's also pretty easy to measure the inside of the awning that goes against the house and mark above your window with a black marker to get the awning perfectly straight. No need to pre-drill holes in aluminum, just poke a small dent in with a sharp awl, then push the screw in with your cordless drill. If you want to make putting the screws in even easier then go to your local hardware store and buy a handful of self-tapping 1/2" sheet metal screws - I just happened to already have some in my garage and used those. If you don't already own a cordless drill by now then buy one as every do-it-yourself should have one. Assembly and installation of this awning can easily be done in under an hour by just one person with a modest amount of do-it-yourself skills. I do realize that not everyone has similar handyman skills for every item and that's probably what happened in this case....I find plumbing work almost impossible for me to do but projects like awnings, woodworking, and wiring very easy to me. As far as the quality of the awning goes it is just fine - made of aluminum and keeps the rain out of my open window.
