Thats a lot of..... Data!
The Seagate 16TB hard drive is like the black hole of storage – it just keeps gobbling up files with no end in sight. I named mine "The Data Abyss," and now I'm convinced it's secretly plotting to store the entire internet. If it ever goes missing, I'll have to report it as a potential digital hoarder!

Dying on Arrival
The drive I was sent had sector faults from the get go which rose quickly and had to be returned. In the couple of days I had the drive, it was at least quiet for an enterprise drive and would have been good value for money had it not been defective. Read/Write speeds where pretty good (nearly 300MB/s peak and 180MB/s at its slowest)

So far so good
So far so good, using Synology has ds923+, even if they tested in other devices isn't marked as compatible with this one. However for me its ok. From other comments noises on standby are quiet in my private opinion (have another brand loud and vibrating even just plugin to power) and when right/writing is a bit loud but need to remember it is 16 TB with much use better to find different location than living or bedroom. The warranty on that should be only 2 years instead of 5 according to Seagate(even if it's brand new).

SCAM - not new drives
SCAM - I've been using 2 of these drives since Feb-24, and one has just died, so went to the Seagate warranty page to be told it's not under warranty - I also need to assume the clock is ticking on the other one. Having looked at the label, the DOM (date of manufacture) is 14AUG21, so looks like the disk was used for around 2 1/2 years before being made to look new and sold as such.

Excellent 16 TERA Seagate Exos HDD
Excellent 16 TERA Seagate Exos HDD. Pity thet the seller doesn't sell any more at the same price. I'd buy two more if he did.

Very loud drive. Otherwise great.
As others have mentioned, this is a very loud drive. It buzzes loudly when idling and it makes a loud whirring sound when it's seeking. I've never known such a loud hard drive having owned many. If you're looking to buy the drive to put it in a nas or similar remote place, then it's a great drive. But do not buy this to put it in a pc or anywhere near where you'll be working/sitting/living: it's too loud.

SCAM?? Quiet, fast, huge. They write at 245Mbps RAID1.
Edit - Search this: Seagate's fraudulent hard drives scandal deepens Bought two - had to use wife to buy second one due to limit as how other do I create a RAID1??? Pain. NO ISSUES - seem absolutely brand new. Perfect packaging. VERY quiet, fast, huge. They write at 245Mbps. Good value - but I was worried given the 30% bad reviews...

Old drives modified to look new, please be careful.
I bought two of the Exos 16TB drives for expanding a friend's Synology NAS. I have only looked at the first of the two drives so far but can confirm it has without a doubt been modified to look 'new' when they very clearly aren't - akin to rolling back the odometer of a car before selling it. The SMART data has been wiped, showing zeros in the hours and values across the board, but as others have suggested, reading the FARM data using smartctl shows a very different picture: Power on Hours: 31843 Lifetime writes - 32 971 100 769 logical sectors × 512 B each works out to ≈16.9 TB (decimal) / 15.4 TiB (binary) written. Lifetime reads - 5 988 505 020 365 sectors × 512 B turns into ≈3.07 PB (decimal) / 2.79 PiB (binary) read. The drive has been in continuous use for nearly 4 years, not the 0 hours as shown by the SMART data, and has read ~3 Petabytes of data. Although I know these drives are workhorses, and the FARM values don't show any issues or predictive failures, I have to give the item 1 star due to the complete lack of transparency, and the effort involved to wipe the SMART data to pretend it's a new drive. The drives were sent in some stiff foam, and visually look defect-free. I'm including photos of the packaging, and the data from SMART and FARM to back up my point. If the item description was transparent about the drive history and status, there would be multiple stars added to this review. tl;dr? Drives are not new, they have been modified to look new, your milage will vary.

Produit Seagate Exos X16 16To CMR 7200 RPM Firmware SN03

Fungerar bra i exempelvis Unifi U-NAS Pro
Fungerar som förväntat. Fungerar bra i min U-NAS Pro. Köpte denna då den var mest priseffektiv jämfört med andra.

Gutes Produkt
Hervorragende Festplatten. Benutze 4 Festplatten seit anderthalb Jahren in meinem NAS‑Laufwerk und sie funktionieren problemlos. Klare Kaufempfehlung

Device did not work and 20 EUR costs for the return cost
The hard disk did not work (it was making a strange noise when powered up) and it was never recognized by the PC / MAC. Returning cost (to the US) is > 20 EUR (from Europe).

This is a used drive, with the smart data cleared to hide that fact.
Received a drive with 29500+ hours of use when looking at the segate farm data. There was no indication in the item description that this was a used drive. Additionally the smart data had been cleared, so very dodgy….
