Osmia - Black Clay Facial Soap Bar (2.25 oz | 64 g)

Before I start reviewing the product, I want to say that I have struggled with this for over 10 years now on and off. And yes, I have tried everything. Doxycycline, Clindamycin, Erithromycin, elimination diets, removing fluoride from my diet, avoiding SLS, Etc. EVERYTHING. And for some reason, no matter what, my PD always came back with vengeance. The first picture is before washing with the black clay soap. The second is the morning after....HUGE difference. I am in the process of receiving results from a food sensitivity test from Everywell.com. This will help me determine what foods may be triggering my PD as well....however... The only bad thing I have to say about the soap is that it can be a little drying, so don't skip the moisturizer. I started using the Osmia Toner and Moisturizer as well as the black clay soap and it has significantly changed my skin. Every day I notice it is a little better. A little less red, a little less bumpy every day. I have also been using some Collodial silver and blotting the area with a cotton ball prior to using the gel toner. This brand changed my life and is slowly but surely curing my perioral dermatitis. I wish I had found it 10 years ago. If you are even considering trying this brand, go to osmia's website and order a sample of the black clay soap, gel toner, and moisturizer. Each are only $5 and have lasted me over a week. Yes you pay shipping. Yes this brand is expensive. But it is worth it especially if you regain your confidence!!! SO SO SO happy with this product. I pray the results will last.

I bought this soap for myself and my 10 year old daughter who were suffering from a very painful case of perioral dermatitis. We had been fighting it for about 6 months and had gotten to the point where I couldn't stand the way It looked or felt, it covered my chin, up around the sides and above my mouth, into my nose, and had started under my eyes. Very painful. I read about this soap on a blog after tons of research. It was pricey but I was beyond desperate. So after 4 weeks I can officially say this soap has saved my face. The first probably two weeks my face was so raw and tender I barely did more than wipe it over my face. Now I can actually rub it in and really wash. The smell isn't very strong or offensive. However it did cause my face to seriously burn the first two weeks and I almost quit using it. It does still have a slight burn so I just use it at the very end of my shower and as soon as I get out I put a light layer of raw honey with a q-tip over all the affected areas. This immediately relieves the burn and it gently moisturizes as I feel this soap dries the area out a good bit. I leave the honey on as long as I can and strongly recommend this for relief from the itch and burn of perioral dermatitis. I also stopped using anything that contained floride and sodium lural sulfates. I used nothing and I mean nothing on my faces besides this soap and raw honey. Like I said it's still not 100% but if you can be patient this soap def works and is worth the money I think.

I cannot rave enough about this soap. I’ve seen estheticians denounce using clay as it draws moisture from the face. I use this soap along with many hydrating products so I can’t attest to it drying my face out when I use so many other products. I have suffered from perioral dermatitis (PD) and in my search for relief stumbled upon this cleanser. It spoke to me for its gentleness that claimed not to aggravate PD, the absolute void of plastic packaging, and it being “natural”. I am happy to say that after 6+ months of use, it is my favorite. And yes, 6+ months and I still have PLENTY use left. the bar didn’t seem nearly as big as I expected but it has lasted with daily use. The smell is nice, not overwhelming or bad (to me). I hope someone with PD can find some relief with this soap as well. PSA PERIORAL DERMATITIS: This soap did NOT cure my PD. If you listen and read to the creator of osmia, she suggests way to prevent/help PD. This soap helped by not further aggravating my PD. I also switched my toothpaste to Jason Power Smile because it did not have SLS or Flouride. I also took a small round of antibiotics (once). I do not wear makeup at all. I have always used Dropps laundry detergent which doesn’t contain sulfates. So all things considered, I don’t have any symptoms for more than 6 months now. So, please take that into consideration before putting all your eggs in one basket if you are looking for a cure all. IMO, switching toothpaste made the biggest difference.

I purchased this product because I have very sensitive skin and I'm trying to combat perioral dermatitis and really crappy adult acne that's been going on for 10 years now. My skin doesn't like fragrances, alcohol, and come to find out over the course of the lockdown it really hates most soaps because of the SLSs. Heck, it even hates water past a certain temperature. This product however is one of the very few things I can put on my face and it not react negatively to. It comes as a fairly small bar, but a little goes a long way for sure with this product, so I foresee it lasting me a good long while. I use it just once a day before bed. The fragrance is like pine, bergamot, and a little citrus and if you can't imagine what that smells like, well... Imagine your local Whole Foods. You'll know what I'm talking about once you order it for yourself. A bit masculine, but not so much that it bothers me, and the smell definitely lasts after you've washed it off. There is a slight tacky feeling when you are washing it off, which is like any bar soap you'll use honestly, but it doesn't leave a residue or any unpleasant feeling behind on the face. Always leaves my skin refreshed, smooth, and radiant. It seems like it helps with my overall redness too. I'm using this in combination with the Cera Ve moisturizing cream/lotion (depending on dryness level) and a shift in my regular skincare routine, and so far this has been the best decision I've ever made when it comes to my skin. Highly recommend this product!

i found this soap when i was looking up remedies for a mild case of perioral dermatitis. Many people on here claimed it did wonders for their PD. i can't say that i saw a crazy difference, at most it definitely helped with inflammation for me but didn't see insane results. I have religiously used the Philosophy Purity face soap for the last 4 years because its so gentle and removes ALL make up at once. I will say in comparison, this osmia soap will remove all of your facial makeup, quite literally melt it off. but beware..DO NOT get it in your eyes...it hurts..a lot. Ive had this bar of soap for about 4 months and i still have quiet a bit left. it does come in a small square chunk but i recommend cutting it in half and definitely using a soap dish to ensure it lasts longer as others on here have suggested as well. All though I'm not necessarily using it for perioral dermatitis anymore, i still like it and use it almost every morning. I would say this soap is good for anyone with sensitive skin looking for a good clean, plus it smells nice!

I found this a little harsh on my face, so I used it to on my back. I’ve noticed there were several little bumps appeared afterward and it was a very good feeling actually, it made the “dirt” and oil trapped inside the skin resurface. Now I still have some bumps and that’s what natural product suppose to do. It should just make you feel like natural and normal, instead of being perfect. It’s still on the pricey side and I may not repurchase this again.

I bought this help to help me with a new skin rash I was experiencing called PD. Based off some research this was a great soap for it. The soap bar is small esp for the price but it doesn't take much to get enough of a lather to wash your face. I kept it in a closed soap container so it will hopefully last longer. The positive is this did not dry out my face. The negative is it didn't help my PD. I also noticed the rest of my face did not remain clear, it actually broke out. I Can’t say if it was due to the soap or if my face was just experiencing some breakout issues. Overall I’m not happy with the soap based on the price, lack of helping my PD, and possible cause of breakouts. I am going to continue using it for a few more weeks, so far its been about 2 weeks plus I’ve used it. Maybe I need to just give it more time.

Pros: I got this after seeing someone post it--I've been trying to reduce my skin care products lately. My skin isn't super sensitive, but it does flare up a little when I switch products. I've had zero flare up and my skin feels great! Also, the bar is about an inch thick and 2 inches wide. After using it every day morning and night for 3 weeks, I can hardly tell that it has been used! So, it will definitely last awhile--I am so happy with this product! Cons: The only con I have found with this product is that it will burn your eyes terribly! I have no idea how I even managed to get this in my eyes...I don't think I have ever had soap in my eyes, but I will say that this will burn for a solid 45-60 seconds, so definitely use caution haha--user error on this one.

I have been using this cleanser for years and nothing beats it.

Ich benutzte die Seife seit etwa 2,5 Monaten. Damit habe ich ein Ausbruch von perioralem Dermatitis erfolgreich abwehren können. Ich nutze die Seife für die tägliche Gesichtsreinigung, und mein Gesicht fühlt sich sauber und gepflegt an. Nie wieder lasse ich was anders an mein Gesicht dran!

I liked the clean feeling I had after washing my face with this soap. It was very expensive so i cut in half and only use one half at a time and then it lasted a longer time.

Loved this non drying little soap as well as the scent.Great for helping with clearing up my perioral dermatitis
