Vollrath 47933, Economy Mixing Bowl, 3 Quart, Stainless Steel, Silver

These bowl are a little thinner than similar stainless steel bowls I've purchased at BigLots. However, they are similar in thickness to bowls that my mom had in her kitchen in the 60s and those are still in use. I have no doubts that these would be any different. I am very happy with the size, depth, and the shine on these. The rationale for getting these is that my ceramic bowls are getting heavier for me to use as I age. I still want to do a lot of cooking but I need to modify how I do things so that I don't get so fatigued or worry about breaking the bowls. Therefore, the lightness of the bowls is probably a good thing. I see a lot of use for these.

Exactly what I was looking for to hold cooking ingredients, and sometimes act as a double boiler for small batches of hollandaise sauce, chocolate, or custard, etc — I already have a bowl with rubber bottom that I use for recipes that require my hand mixer. Some people have questioned the durability, but as I’m using mine in a home kitchen and just cooking for 3-4 people, it’s perfect. I would imagine that in a busier home kitchen or an industrial kitchen it would likely become dented in the fury of cooking and storage. However for our family it is just right. The moment I opened it, my toddler’s face lit up and he used it as a steel drum for about an hour, banging on it with two of our stainless steel reusable straws and on the kitchen floor. Not a dent or scratch resulted! Mommy and Toddler approved; gave Daddy headache.

I got this specifically for tempering chocolate, and it worked so well. The bowl is so light weight and performs perfectly. The size is just right.

A great bowl for mixing 4 cup artisan bread dough. I have three such bowls. A 3 quart, a 5 quart, and an 8 quart that I use in baking bread. I like them all and purchased them on three separate occasions. This 5 quart bowl is perfect for the 4 cup artisan bread loaf that I make. It arrived in perfect condition and is a snap to clean. I hand wash all of my bowls because it's handy to do so during the process I use in my baking and it's quick and natural to hand wash the bowl while waiting for dough to be ready for the next step. It takes only a minute to do so. I bought one for my daughter who bakes bread also. I've very well pleased with the quality although I've read some comments to the contrary. Their experience must have been different from mine because I've gone back to purchase other Vollrath stainless steel mixing bowl on three separate occasions. I think they are a great addition to my baking utensils and therefore I recommend them.

Volrath usually makes pretty Rock Solid products, like they're half tray, and they're Cooling racks. I was kind of surprised that this particular stainless steel bowl was thin walled. It's okay, does the job. But honestly, I don't know if this is a quality thing where they're using less and less material now to do the same job? One other thing I found interesting is that the mark on the bottom is painted on. It's not stamped in like other Volrath products. So kind of makes me wonder if I got an actual Volrath or not. It would be nice to see other people posting photos of the bottom of their bowls to validate if that is indeed a true product from this company.

Recommended by Cook's Country. Fine and as they said, but somehow it seems small. It's fine for tonsa things, but I am gonna order another at 5/6 quart to making mixing w/o slopping easier for my new middle school granddaughter who is learing to bake. The bowl is fine w/ one GREAT rim, but I just want a bigger one too.

I admit I am spoiled, but since I started to really prepare serious meals during this 'stay at home' time I have found that kitchen tools, the right ones and plenty of them, can make a huge difference in the ease and pleasure of cooking. SO I have a dozen of these bowls in differetn shapes and sizes and I am happy happy happy. They clean up so easily by hand I don't bother taking up dishwasher space.. get ourself a few, you are worth it!

This is a nice bowl, but the one I received doesn't have a 3Qt volume, it is only 2 Qt! I measured it by filling it with water. Yet the serial number on the bottom of the bowl is exactly the same as advertised for the 3Qt - 47933.
