Review: Makita Tools are Hands Down Awesome! - Makita, I own 60+ Makita Tools, some near 25 years old. I was hesitant to buy this because of a few reviews. But I’ve not been let down in near 3 decades of Makita, I took the plunge as I do have a pressure washers, wheel Barrow, a parts Truck or two, Moving Dolly’s and 5 Family Cars. Sure some of my stuff doesn’t get used for months on end and tires go Flat or lose air. Well instead of firing up a Noisy 240Volt Compressor I grabbed the lightweight, ergonomic Tool, added a Battery and went to work, I used for my first use a 6.0ah Battery, I said ok let’s test it out, 2 pressure washer tires at 30 PSI, two Dolly tires at 30 PSI, a wheel barrow tire at 30 PSI, 4 ford ranger tires at 40 PSI, now sure they were not Flat but had near a 1/4 of the recommended pressure in them and this tool did all of them great, the nice features are the ability to set a pressure and the tool shuts off when reached. The hose whip that locks on the Stem is great. Sure you have to hold the trigger but by NO means as one reviewer said does it need a trigger lock, I have carpol tunnel and I had NO issues holding the Trigger. The Tool did not overheat as I went one tire after the other. I then checked my battery meter and the battery was still showing full. So, by far I’m pleased, it beats firing up my 60 Gallon shop compressor, My 30 Gallon Mobile Compressor or My Framing Compressor. No big hoses to wind up after. No compressors to drain. Plus it would be awesome on Road Trips along with a Tire Plugging kit as I frequent a isolated Ranch 150 miles away from my home and 20 miles away from any service’s. Makita you did good! I recommend it to anyone. I would gather for such a small compressor it does take a little time to fill a completely flat tire but it beats trying to fill it with your mouth when your on the side of a freeway on the way home on a Sunday night at 10pm. I’m sold and it’s a Five Stars from me, a retired Union Electrician and former Master Certified automobile and heavy duty Truck Mechanic. Thank you Makita!
Review: If you're already a Makita battery person... - I kinda bought this on a whim. We just got a travel trailer and I like to keep a portable air pump around just in case. I already have one in our Durango, its a 12 V model that hooks up to your car battery. The wires are plenty long for the car, but would be a stretch to make it to the wheels of our trailer. I always bring my Makita drill along, if for nothing else than to spin the stabilizer jacks up and down. I also bought the Makita cordless wet/dry vac that I keep in my shop and bring to clean up when camping. So I figured this would be another nice item to bring in case I need to air up the tires. I just got it and am quite impressed. I walked around the garage and filled some bike tires (Schrader and presta valve), the tires to my pressure washer, and even the tires to my 50 gallon shop air compressor. This is so much more convenient than even just unwrapping the hose from my shop compressor to fill tires. Good Things: Light weight, fast, you can preset the target pressure you want to fill to, comes with Schrader valve, presta valve and needle valve attachments. Bad things (and I don't really think any of these are bad, just things other reviews have complained about) Its fairly loud (like just about any other compressor), does not have a brushless motor (not sure I even care since this is not a constant duty tool like a drill, saw or impact driver), you have to hold the trigger on until the pump reaches target pressure, there is no trigger lock. On that last one I really don't see what the big deal is. I think this will only run for 5 minutes before it needs to take a break because it's not designed for constant duty. And if that really bothers you, I see other people just use a velcro tie wrap to keep the trigger on. Since I just got this I can't comment on durability. But the build quality seems good. It filled my daughter's bicycle tires from 9 psi to 35 psi in about 30 seconds. I don't think this would be very good for inflating large items like air mattresses. I guess I can give that a try at some point. But for my use, this will be used a lot for topping things off that I normally ignore because it's just a pain in the butt to unroll my shop compressor hose. This just comes out to the car with you. If you already have other 18V Makita LXT tools this is a very nice add. Maybe a bit pricy, but my experience is mini air compressors are generally not cheap.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you have to hold the trigger or is there a trigger lock?**
A: There is no trigger hold/lock. However, I use a velcro cable strap that I keep looped around the handle. When I want to run the inflator hands free, I wrap the cable strap around the trigger. I so this with my makita leaf blower as it also does not have a trigger hold/lock. Happy strapping.

**Q: Will this pump up a raft or air mattress quickly?**
A: Quickly? No. Eventually? Maybe, depends on how large of a raft or air mattress. Might need a spare battery and you can expect it to take some time, this pump has a 50% duty cycle.

**Q: Que tan rapido infla un neumatico de 16**
A: Regular rapido

**Q: Is this compatible with 18v lithium ion compact batteries?**
A: Yes

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little (I do mean little) inflator by Makita
*by K***C on February 4, 2026*

First, for some reason this Outdoor Adventure model is at the time I bought it less expensive than the Blue Makita 180 inflator which works exactly the same. Go figure. Anyway, after using my son's Makita inflator, I knew I would enjoy the convenience of not dragging out the compressor driven air tank whenever I needed to equalize tire pressures. The advantage of this is that on winter trips away from home when there are large temperature fluctuations, it is so easy to readjust tire pressures without searching out service station devices. Who has quarters anymore anyway! Functionally it is so easy, set the gauge to desired pressure and pull the trigger. It turns off when the target is reached. Easy. A few tips: after reaching the target pressure let it rest for a bit, sometimes the pressure will drift downward 1/2 lb requiring another brief trigger squeeze. Second tip is that you must have Makita batteries which display the battery level indicator. The older LXT batteries (they have a star but not the battery indicator) won't mount to this device. Luckily I had just bought (@HomeDepot) a pair of 4 AH batteries for my other tools 'cause the 2 AH older packs wouldn't work. There are comments about not having a trigger lock for those rare times when you're inflating for a longer time. Well, rare for my use, but I suppose if you are inflating rubber boats or constantly inflating ATV or large truck tires I can see how a trigger lock (also a real tanked compressor I'd think) would be helpful. Do note that this has a thermal shutoff so running it for too long will likely trigger that. Anyway, an enterprising Chinese company has a product on Amazon that velcros onto this inflator for those who need that sort of thing. I think it's even less than $10. Cheers.
