Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor Paint Set, 24 Colors, Made in Japan

I am new to watercolors and was quite disappointed with the cheaper sets. Watched some YouTube videos and did some research and decided to order the Kuretake set. All the YouTube's and researching paid off. A joy to work with. Bigger pans, single replacement pans in a ton of different colors are easily available, vibrant colors, great value.

Absolutely love these watercolors! Vibrant, highly pigmented colors, that blend so well. Great value for the money. And perfect for beginners they are almost professional grade. I’ve finished with one picture, looking forward to painting many more!

I’ve painted with many brands, including Holbein Sennelier and other professional brands, Gonza are highly pigmented , Penn butter and are definitely my favorite watercolor paint. My only problem is that I use a few paints more than others and I’m unable to replace individual colors. Excellent product.

Paints are good quality and I love all the various hues included in this set. Only wish Kuretake would have included some sort of flat mixing area palette on which to use. I have two of their graphite sets, same song and same story. No mixing wells.

I have always hated watercolors but I had my eye on these for a while hoping they would be different. I made one more attempt with these and they do feel different. They activate so easily and they're so vivid. The pans are huge and will last a while. I love having two different rose madders, having a couple pastel colors, and the inclusion of indigo. I have always hated mixing colors with smaller ranged pallettes especially when lightening a color involves adding water. It reminds me more of my favorite drawing ink but it can be lifted and blended after drying. Though not really that affordable it is worth spending the extra money Mine arrived with crumbs of some sort in the packaging but no paint seems to be broken or lost. They came packaged as an open box with the lid on the bottom and a piece of plastic to protect the pans but the colors visible then placed in the plastic bag with the amazon sticker. It's unclear if this is a seller issue or if the images lied as it indicated it would be a closed box with padding to protect the paints and there was also a swatch sheet. No swatch sheet was provided other than one printed on the lid. However theres no indication that they were used and returned as no indentation was present and I have noted that when you use them it leaves a glossy area where you activated the paint.

The best watercolor ever

Beautiful colors, great texture, with exceptional lifting. But the reds and purples faded terribly after just six months with some window exposure. Absolutely not acceptable. I might make do with using my red watercolor paints combined with the Kuretake white, but it's a hack. Using lightfast pigments instead of whatever they use now is entirely possible and I'm a little bothered that they think what they have now is good enough for artists. The screenshot is from a blogger who does her own lightfast tests.

I’m obsessed with this brand of watercolor paints. If you love color and painting get these and enjoy them! I have been sharing them with artists friends because they are so incredibly wonderful!!!!

Los colores quedan super brillantes. La textura es deliciosa. Recomiendo muchísimo la compra de estas acuarelas. Pigmentan un montón, y es muy fácil diluirlas en una paleta.

Tengo una debilidad por las acuarelas y tengo muchas y de marcas distintas. Las japonesas Kuretake son una de mis favoritas. Muy ricos los pigmentos, muy brillantes y maravillosos de usar. Me encantan. Han sido todo un descubrimiento. Éste estuchito es pequeño (o más bien tamaño medio). Tengo también el grande de las 36 acuarelas. Éste está genial para llevar en la mochila y usar para cuando se está de viaje. Maravilloso formato.

Gli acquerelli kuretake sono stupendi, si sfumano con estrema facilità e le tonalità di questo set sono bellissime. Perfetti sia per chi sta ancora facendo pratica che per chi cerca prodotti di alta qualità!
