Review: Just fantastic watch. I bought a second one! - Utterly fantastic watch. That is hard to do!! After I had it for a month, I ordered a second one, still in its manila envelope. It comes in a big manila envelope that fits in your mailbox, so no box left on your doorstep. It is NOT solar or radio-controlled, but mine get off by ~4 seconds in six months!! It is comfortable, an almost impossible achievement for any watch. My Breitling Intruder is comfortable, but that is because Breitling, at those prices, pays attention to how a watch balances on your wrist, designs its bracelets so the watch and bracelet work together to be comfortable. Some of the big gun cheaper brands- you know who I mean- the big 3 names, will sell you a watch that is just annoying to wear, thinking you'll be dissatisfied and try again, and again. THIS sucker gets it right. It is incredibly comfortable. That's one reason I bought 2 of them. Some Casios with the dual level screen are dark, weirdly dark to read. NOT THIS. It is as contrasty as the best of the digitals. A huge plus with this watch is the buttons on the side. The G-shocks have them heavily recessed and hard as hell to push. OR a watch will have little round metal buttons that are hard to press. THIS WATCH GETS THAT RIGHT TOO. IT HAS 'FLIPPERS" FOR BUTTONS- VERY EASY AND COMFORTABLE TO PRESS. The other watch makers just cannot figure that out. No matter how long they sit around the big table playing with watches, they just can't figure it out. I have NEVER had one of these flippers accidentally get pushed. Never, so it works!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gee guys, its that hard to figure out? And how many of us are really piloting helos into the mtns of Afghanistan every day or Iraq or Syria where a mis-pushed button would spell death for all aboard? I like the green color on the dial. It is not quite as armored up as a G shock, but I have sort of hit it on the side of the gym locker putting my hand in, and no damage at all.. One little vulnerability it has is this: See that grey color on those two bulges of the case at 3 and 9 oclock? Well, that is grey PAINT on the plastic. I dropped mine on my sidewalk and that will scratch off. That is on the 9 oclock position on mine, and just tiny up near the top of the bulge, so on the "up wrist side" so nobody will ever see it. But you have to drop the watch on concrete to achieve that. That tiny scratch is so minor and un-apparent on mine, that I still will wear it anywhere and nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever see it. I'd wear it to Buck House or the WH, for sure. If I get elected President of the United States, I'll still wear it. As you cycle through the home page (local time) , which shows the date, and you go through world time (I leave mine set for the time in Paris), stopwatch (one hour and starts over), timer (24 hour count-down timer, useful as hell for timing parking meters, alarm ( I have never used this), and back to the home screen, through all of those you always see your local time shown. Some G shocks I believe cant do that, and people gripe. The one with the rectangular screen has that problem. Not this. You see your local time in all screens, and in the main screen, you see the date. It has a light, which I don't use much to save the battery, but I will use in a movie theater, and it has a compass for when you get lost in the Sierra, as people do every winter. Dammed accurate compass too. How accurate does it have to be to walk out of the Sierra? So there it is: This watch has it ALL. They actually got everything right, and the big "A" on-line seller charges $40 for it. Geez. 40! Buy it. You won't regret it. If you absolutely destroy it falling off a rock-face, you'll pay 40 to replace it. I'm wearing mine as I write this. Now off to the gym and I wear it there 3x a week. Big digits, easy to read at a glance, good looking, light weight, as comfortable as any watch I own, big, easy to push flippers on the sides, and dirt cheap. You can ask Rolex owners if they'd like to set their watch by yours. One guy on here said he's had his for four years and the batt. is still powering it. It is as close to the perfect watch as anybody has ever come up with. Am I communicating that I like it?
Review: Great Watch - Fantastic Price - Looks Good and is Sturdy - My son wanted a watch because all his friends had one - so this was more of an impulse purchase for him. At first I wasn't sure about buying on desertcart so we show roomed around town to look at this watch at retail outlets first to see if this is something he really liked and wanted and to ensure that it would not look too big or small on his wrist and that the enthusiasm for the watch was still there after a few trips. It was. After trying the watch at a few retail outlets and seriously considering buying it offline we noted the price in most cases was between $25.00 and $45.00 more than online and though there were a few negative reviews we decided finally to buy it online. I'm an desertcart Prime member and the watch came within 2-days just as it said it would. It was well packed in an outer box and the watch came in full retail packaging including the original manual. The first thing I did was to ensure it was a new watch and not something someone else had returned. I checked the screen, and back of the watch for scratches - none seen. Checked the band for any obvious usage like worn lettering and such - but of course, nothing of the sort. I was 100% satisfied that this was new and not a refurb/repack or anything else. As with most watches you do need to read the instructions to set the date/time and other features of the watch. The manual is an easy read and setting up the various items like date/time, world clock, and compass were pretty easy. The watch has come great features: - Big, bold and easy to read display. Although my son has great eyesight it's always nice to have a watch where the numbers are easy to read. The date and day is slightly smaller but the main display shows the time is large and bold and just below that is the seconds. - Stopwatch. My son started playing soccer and liked helping his coach, so the stopwatch was great so when they ran mini-races he would use the stopwatch to time the other kids. He also used the stopwatch to time himself doing his chores in the house! - World time. Not sure why he liked this so much, but he liked the world time feature. Many of his cousins live in Africa, so his world time is set accordingly. - Timer - again a feature that I didn't think was useful, but he liked it. - Alarm - LOVE this feature on the watch! Previously we would have to wake him up, but he sets the alarm himself and actually wakes up to it. - Compass - something that he won't use often but is a nice feature on the watch. Whenever we've gone out he'll set the compass to see if it matches what's shown in the car, to date I don't think it has ever been off. As you move it does tell you in great detail how many degrees you are as well (for example 33.4 degrees NNW). The size of the watch was perfect for his wrist - I bought this a couple of years ago so he was around 8 at the time. Initially it looked a little big for him, but after some time it seemed to look OK. I suspect it was just not seeing a watch on him until that time. He was never a watch person as a toddler so never got him even those kids Mickey Mouse or superhero watches. The watch edges come up over the face making it very difficult to scratch the face of the watch. I've noticed a few small, minor scratches on it but that's from banging it against something. They are definitely not visible. There are some scratches on the back as well, but again nobody looks at the back and the main reason for these scratches are because he leaves his watch in his drawer along with everything else in it. I actually liked the strap on it, initially I thought that we would have to replace it but it has held up very well with no cracks on it at all. The strap is not cheap plastic but quite a strong rubbery texture to it. I also worried that he may be allergic to the strap but no issues at all. The only noticeable wear and tear is on the strap where some of the lettering has come off, but on the face of the watch none of the lettering has come off or faded. He really hasn't tested the watch to the 200m depth but has gone swimming and in the hot tub with it on and hasn't had any problems. He's taken the watch to school and several adults have commented on how sharp the watch looks. The Casio SGW100-1V is a great watch for adult or child over 8-years of age. We are definitely very happy with the watch and would not hesitate to recommend this to any parent who wants a first watch for their child.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the compass and thermometer features accurate?**
A: Within reason, keep it level for compass. Thermometer depends on temperature fluctuation.

**Q: Does the compass light up**
A: Yes, face lights up on compass as well as on the other features. BUT, the face lights up only very momentarily. The only feature that I don't like about the watch.

**Q: Does the bezel rotate?**
A: No, the bezel doesn't rotate.

**Q: does it also have hourly time signal? just wondering.**
A: Yes. The watch has hourly time signal.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Time Keeper Not a Computer
*by D***M on October 20, 2025*

IF you want a time piece, something that reports time and counts it, this is the watch for you. I have two previous models of this watch. It tells you the time, day, and date, it will do that for a second time zone but I cannot adjust the time for that second zone, then a stop watch count jp and a timer count down and then an alarm, also a compass and temperature but take it off your wrist as it picks up your temp. The blue colors do not stand out on the actual watch as they do in the photo. Band and clasp are improved over previous models. Print in the manual is incredibly small and difficult to read but a great watch and a great price.
