Only has cinchona bark, sugar and some rose flavor making for a clean, quinine foreword beverage.2. I control the sweetness by how much product I add.Other tonic syrups add a slew of spices, lemon grass, the clippings from the groundskeeper's lawn mower, and they all taste like fairy pee. And the bottled tonic waters are all too sweet, even Q which I was diluting with club soda.I also tried too many gins, only like the juniper foreword brands, and settled , after trying high to reasonable priced one's on a $20.00/ product. Again, too many gins ruin their flavor with their version of 'fairy pee' foo foo ingredients.KEEP IT SIMPLE, ADHERE TO THE FLAVOR PROFILE THAT THE PRODUCT CALLS FOR. I assumed the “Rose” in the title is because Portland is the “Rose City.” Never imagined it might be because it tastes like roses. If you like a classic G & T that tastes like juniper, quinine, and citrus (Jack Rudy, Q, Fever Tree), you’ll be seriously disappointed. It has excellent flavor that doesn't overpower the gin or the quinine. I've tried eight other tonic syrups on the market, and this one is quite distinctive and different. This one to me is the perfect compliment to a juniper forward gin. It allows the flavors to come through and has just the right amount of bitterness. It has a touch of something different in it, which I attribute to the floral rose flavor. Very nice. What I don't like is the very spicy tonics like Strong, and El Guapo that taste too clovy and cinammony, which to me is not appropriate for a tonic. I also like Ruby D's citrus tonic, and Jack Rudy's Elderflower Tonic, which are all different and outstanding in their own way.
