They met the travel rules and were convenient to store in a pocket. Each family member could have their own bottle and use as needed during the day. The bottles didn't leak and the spray nozzles didn't clog. The spray itself seemed effective, we had less ticks & flies on our clothing than other people travelling with us. Our clothing wasn't blue or black, so that might have made a difference too. Ben's repellent also comes in a wipe, we found that much better for re-applying to exposed skin: less issues with overspray hitting plastic, easier to use inside a cramped vehicle with others.
