Review: Excellent Device - I am a long time user of Wansview products and I purchased two of these W4s over the past couple of months, the first to test and the second because I was pretty happy with the first. Importantly, I am using them indoors so I can't speak to how they function outdoors. Setup was a breeze and takes less than 10 minutes. I'm running them via WiFi but they have ethernet ports so they can be hard wired as well. The picture quality is superb. I purchased these primarily for their motion detection which also functions perfectly. Notably, these cameras are operated from (in my case) an iOS application that's free and run on ones iPhone. Turning on motion detection is simple and I've tested this feature extensively and it works without a hitch. I have also purchased the 69.00 dollar package to allow for being able to store motion events in the cloud for a week and this works great. These events can be downloaded to the iPhone which is nice if you want to be able to store events that would scroll off after a week. The app took a little getting used to and I did contact support with a couple of questions and those questions were answered promptly. I use Blue Iris as a Windows application to drive my older Wansview cams and I haven't set the new ones up yet but other people have stated that Blue Iris will support them which is critical for me. I'll post another update when I do that and report back. All in all, for the money these are great cams and Wansview continues to deliver good product and these two W4s are now my 3rd and 4th cams I own and have purchased from Wansview. Review: Great picture quality especially for price - I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the picture given the price of the camera. Usually security cameras with such a cheap price the price is reflected in the quality of video but not with this camera. Great price for reasonable quality for the price you pay. The only complaint I do have is that you have to pay a monthly subscription if you want to be able to have continuous recording and to be able to go back and look at the entire day of security footage if you needed to which is a huge deal for me in my case being a survivor of domestic violence and needing to have security cameras for my safety and to be able to actually go to sleep every night feeling safe and secure. I think that a basic free plan should come with 7 days continuous 24/7 recording and storage if wanted and anything more than that should be charged a fee because I understand that is a huge part of how these security camera companies make their money is the subscriptions and I understand that they need to get paid too! But anyway, yes, this is a great outdoor security camera. And I live in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle so it rains a lot and we can have some Bipolar weather here and this camera has withstood all the weather elements we have here with absolutely no issues at all. Very impressive once again given such a great price! I do want to upgrade and try this companies pan and tilt outdoor security camera after being very satisfied in the quality and price of this one. The night vision is also automatically turned on and has a great clear picture as well. And on a side note for those of you who are into looking/watching/hunting for extraterrestrial/ET paranormal/ghost, this camera does have infared and I have found some unexplainable caught on camera security footage "things" with this camera so this is a great camera for that specific hobby for those of you who are interested.

Pretty decent camera
I have been wanting to purchase home security cameras for some time now., but I did not want to spend hundreds of dollars. I happened across this camera through "Today's Deals" and thought, why not for the price. I looked at the information provided by the company, read reviews, and looked at the images provided in the reviews. I am not disappointed. These were very easy to connect to the internet, set up in the app, and install. We have one set up in our basement to watch our cat at night and one for the backyard, mainly to see what for animals we get throughout the night/day. The night vision is pretty good. The center of the image/video is very bright as can be expected because it is the main focus area. I really enjoy being able to see my backyard at night without having to turn lights on. So far, we have caught bunnies, bugs, birds, and bats on camera. The motion detection works a little too well sometimes. There are set presets for the motion detection feature, but it is very easy to change in settings. The first night we had it, I woke up in the morning to 34 alerts of motion in the backyard. They were all flying insects going directly in front of the camera. I turned the sensitivity down, and we don't get quite as many insect alerts. When the camera detects motion, it captures about a 12-second clip for you to view. The picture quality is great for the price of the camera. I didn't expect Ultra HD or anything and you shouldn't either, but it is pretty good quality for both day and night vision. I have not tried out the company's cloud storage feature yet, but they do offer a free 1-month trial which is a nice bonus. Overall this camera gets 4/5 stars. It loses a star because it seems it cannot be connected to a third-party app or system to be able to record footage. If there is, I have not figured it out yet, but I am not the most computer savvy person. Definitely recommend this camera as I will likely purchase a couple more in the future.

Great camera, without paying for the cloud!
This camera hits all the criteria I was looking for. I got this camera for my front door to see who comes and goes. The camera has great picture quality both day and night. There is a monthly subscription cloud storage but I cannot comment on that as I didn’t want to pay a monthly fee so instead, I have my camera set up to record and this camera will let you see up to two days worth of recordings before you get “locked out” of watching them if you don’t subscribe to that cloud service which is fine by me, I usually check it daily at random times and if anything needs to be saved (such as, I’ve found random dogs and random cats come through my porch) I just screen record the video I want to save with my phone and boom, you can save the clip you need to save WITHOUT subscribing to a monthly cloud service. It’s a very crisp and clear picture but with no audio (which I’m okay with, I’m watching my front porch to see people messing with my things, see lost/dumped animals which happens a lot where I live, to see anybody potentially trying to get in my house, and sometimes to avoid unwanted guests LOL) so I don’t really care to have the audio part. If I need to check the camera while I’m away at work or on vacation, it loads up in no time. I have a different brand of a camera with two way audio inside to watch my dog while I’m at work and talk to him if needed, my indoor camera takes a while to load, a long long time compared to this outdoor camera (but I did need to audio for my indoor camera) as well as no recording service at all without paying a monthly fee unlike this outdoor camera. The one thing I do not like about this outdoor camera is that you can’t move the camera with the app. Once you set up your camera, make sure you have it where you want it at all times. If this brand came out with this same camera but with two way audio and let you move it within the app/movement tracking, id switch it out with my indoor camera in a heartbeat. 5 stars, because it gets the job done that I was looking for without costing a ton of money, and exceeded my expectations with the video recording without paying for the cloud.

Don't get this if you have a Macintosh
The camera works ok, albeit not very high resolution. However, the software that WansView provides to run it is terrible. The Windows PC program for the camera is really crude. There is no menu to control the program, consequently that eliminates automated control of the software via macro utilities such as AutoIt or AutoHotKey. Substituting for menus are just a few extremely small icons which are barely legible. In addition, nearly every day the program freezes at apparently random times. I complained to WansView about the extremely small control icons to no avail. They merely suggested I increase the size of icons for the entire Windows PC; which I tried; but it made all the other icons in Windows far too large and impractical. The Macintosh version of the WansView software has wonderfully large and clear icons. However, the Mac version is pretty much useless. Whereas the PC version records the camera video to my hard drive for an apparently unlimited length of time, the Mac version records only for 30 minutes maximum, then overwrites the previous recording and starts recording again for just 30 minutes. I contacted WansView through email and they said they'll work on fixing 30 minute recording bug. Now, after three months and several email exchanges with the WansView support staff, there has been no fix for the 30 minute limitation in the WansView Mac software. Apparently the only way this WansView camera will work well is by purchasing some third-party security camera software or struggling to use some free open-source program which is cumbersome to use and difficult to setup.

False advertising to say Alexa Enabled. OK cam but would not buy again
I have quite the ecosystem of Amazon devices. As time goes on, the irritation with them makes me rethink tose choices. I am so sick of limited functionality from Alexa, constant Amazon Music Unlimited upsells, weak Skills integration. I bought this device because of advertised Amazon integration. I thought that I could enable the Skill, tie it to my devices and have the Fire TV display the camera stream. The web page sales info implied this would work. Every time I try to get remote display, Alexa says "Sorry, cameras aren't supported. Enable the device in Alexa to display on Fire TV." That has been done. There is no Wansview Cloud app on the Amazon appstore! WTF with that? I can't even directly enable the app, much less get Alexa to launch and connect. I sideloaded the app from a third party APK repo to get it to work on a Fire 7 tablet. Still, that's a far distance from Alexa enabled. Doubtful that Grandma is going to start hacking APKs. The camera is OK, and cheaper than Amazon Cloud Cams, which I also have, but none free at the moment. I'm very disappointed with the bait and switch, and now that I know the "Alexa Enabled" tag is a lie, I would avoid buying one if you want your Fire TV to share the stream.

For the money look no further. Simple to use!
Received my camera on time. I only ordered one to try it out. When the package came it was smaller than I anticipated. So ok ill give it a try. Unboxing, camera seems sturdy and well built , smaller than I pictured. Im not really savy on wifi and apps. I followed the setup instructions, wich are simple and easy to understand. Downloading the app was simple. Following the simple directions, my camera was up and running! You setup your camera before mounting it, right out of the box. Dont worry about unplugging the camera to mount afterwards, it will hook right back up to wifi! I have a new wifi router with 2.4 g and 5g both active and did not have any problem hooking up the camera to it. Picture quality is perfect, wide range, color, night vision is spectacular and far reaching. The app that you view the camera on is simple to use: watch live video, full screen, you can zoom just like any pictures on your phone , settings for motion detection and alerts. I did not subscribe to the cloud service. The app will save a short video alert in the app for you to view. The one thing i found is the sensitivity of the motion detection settings need work. To sensitive or not sensitive enough. No in between. Mabe with the cloud storage its more adjustable. But that said , this works and performs just like it should. For the money you cant go wrong as far as im concerned. Im going to get two more. I also purchased an extended warranty plan . Just good sense and inexpensive. Great product!

Good camera, great price! can't go wrong.
In recent months, some loon is driving around my area throwing eggs & blowing the horn all hours of the night, got sick of it,a few neighbors & myself got cameras. This was TOO easy to set up! no problem screwing it onto the house, people complaining the wifi antenna is in the way are just whining! no problem with the wire, ran in down in back of the gutter & into a cellar window, plugged it in,( i'm a woman) took a few times to get the wifi to connect,no major deal, the only thing i don't like is i can't see what's going on when i'm not home because it's on my phone.I'm thinking of leaving my old phone home & hooking it up to it,to record. The night vision is great, spotted a few fox & animals on the lawn, have no trouble seeing cars, naturally now the nut stopped acting up,probably seeing all our cameras up all over the neighborhood,LOL but to be honest? i'm glad i bought it! Helps when it's a steam bath outside like it was today & i see packages come, not going out checking & croaking from the heat to find they haven't been delivered.Price & vision wise? can't go wrong! I also got the cloud storage,so in the morning? i can check all pictures it took.Good security camera!!
