It may lock in other angles, but I have not tried it in angles other than parallel or perpendicular to the handle. I also will mention that this unit has performed admirably and I have absolutely no regrets with my purchase. I was able to remove old tile (put down in the 1950's with thick-set. I found it works best at lower speeds and sharp angles of attack. Take your time and you won't work up any sweat, letting the tool do the work.
