Outstanding, Inexpensive PLA Filament
I needed to use several Kg of PLA for a large print ant tried this out mainly because of the cost. Iāve been using it on a P1S with an AMS, and it prints beautifully. Perfect extrusion and adhesion, without any trouble at all. Iām currently printing with the third roll, having blown through 2Kg in just over four days. The only problem that Iāve had is that the spools are very light weight, so they tend to lift inside the AMS when the spool gets down to the last couple hundred grams. Some weight in the center of the spools takes care of this. The filament looks great when printed and is not any lower quality than filament that costs much more. I originally purchased a pack with 2 rolls of white and 2 rolls of black, but I bought a second pack of 4 black rolls. This is outstanding filament at a very nice price, and next-day delivery is very nice, too.

Clean prints
Good filament. Decent color. No clogs. Havenāt run into any issues running it on the AD5X. Only downside is the spools are the larger version.

Great filament for a great price!
Great filament. Very little stringing, prints smooth. No signs of brittleness. I had some adhesion problems initially, but nothing a little glue on the build plate couldn't solve. I will be buying this again.

Jekyll & Hyde Filament - Slow 1st Layer Speeds Required! - UPDATED: Not so bad after all...
For years I've been using Prusament Galaxy Black - amazing quality and beautiful color - but prices have gotten out of hand and the speckled color has a weird tendency to clog nozzles, even on my Prusa Mk2.5S. So last year I decided it was time for a change. The TecBears specs sure sounded comparable to Prusament, and the price was amazing, so I ordered a roll of black PLA. From the very first print, it was amazing. This PLA stuck to my Prusa's PEI sheet like glue, and I never had a single failed print the entire roll. Also notable is that the roll was wound perfectly just like a Prusament spool. For less than half the price of a Prusament roll, I was in love. So I just finished that roll and immediately ordered 3 more TecBears. The black PLA prices were even lower than I remembered (nice!) so I ordered 2 black PLA rolls plus a yellow PLA roll. I tried the yellow first, and noticed immediately that it didn't seem to adhere to the bed as well as the black. I figured the color pigments were a factor and didn't worry about it too much, and though I had a couple bed adhesion failures, ultimately I was able to get some good prints. Next I tried the black. The first thing I noticed it that it wasn't wound nicely at all - is this even the same stuff? And print after print was just failure after failure - this wouldn't stick to my PEI sheet at all! In the past, I've discovered that once PLA absorbs too much moisture it won't stick (which is why I built a filament dry-box and often use a high-quality food dehydrator to keep my filaments dry and printing well) and I suspected that quality control at the factory was lacking and that even as nicely vacuum sealed as the spool arrived, that the PLA had too much moisture. So I ran it through my dehydrator overnight, sure that would solve the problem. This morning I tried printing again, and still it won't stick. It's almost like the filament is contaminated with some oils that are preventing it from sticking to the PEI sheet. Test after test, I finally discovered that if I slow down my first layer print speed I can get this to stick. How slow? 25% of typical 1st layer speed, which is already <50% of normal layer speed. The actual number is 5mms. That's slow enough that I was able to write this entire review in less time than my first layer has been printing. So it's usable, but what a pain. And what a disappointment after that first roll from last August was essentially perfect. And in the hopes that TecBears actually reviews these reviews, my perfect black PLA spool from August has a label with part # 08101011, S/N: 0610004251Z. The really bad black PLA spool I'm printing with now does not have either a part # or S/N on the spool itself and has a different temp range (190-230 instead of 200-230... again, is this even the same stuff?) while the box has barcode X002DQDG0L, but that's been covered up by a new barcode label LPN RR AS621 1761 (suspicious!). Oddly, the 2nd TecBears black PLA spool I ordered is box barcode X002DQF5YL, so different yet again, but the spool inside looks identical to the bad spool I'm printing with now - well, except this spool's bag has lost the vacuum so I'm looking forward to moisture issues. I haven't printed with it yet, so no idea if it will adhere or not. I'm not sure if I'll ever order TecBears again. I dont' know if it's a lottery and I just got a bad batch, or if these quality issues are here to stay. Even at these cheap-as-plastic prices, I'm just not sure it's worth the risk. That said, after slowing down my 1st layer speed to 5mms, the prints are coming out okay - layer to layer adhesion is fine and surface finish is okay. Had this been the first TecBears roll I'd ever purchased, I wouldn't have written this review I just would have never considered them again. But knowing how perfect that first roll was, it's hard to walk away... EDIT 4/13/2021: My experience has changed, and I felt the need to update this review. After writing the initial review, I discovered that on larger prints the adhesion was failing and print edges were lifting, warping, and ruining the print. I also tried my 2nd black roll to the exact same result. I was planning to come here and take another star off, from 3 to 2 stars, since the yellow was still working okay for me. I went back to Prusament black PLA, and while bed adhesion was remarkably better, the infamous clogs were back. I spent weeks troubleshooting the issue, and rebuilt the entire extruder + hotend, switched to a new PEI surface, and added cooling to my extruder stepper motor. Notably, I discovered that my nozzle wasn't fully tight during all my troubleshooting. Prusament clogging continues, especially with low feed rates at tiny layer heights, and this seems to be a common complaint on Prusament PLA - common enough that I don't think I'll buy Prusament PLA again. Out of curiosity, I tried my TecBears black PLA again, and shock of all shocks, it is working great now. I'm back to default temps and speeds, 1st layer adhesion is good, and I'm getting all successful prints. I've been able to print more in the last few days than I have in months, and for the for time in a while I can just let it print and not have to constantly monitor for adhesion issues or clogging. At this point, I'm attributing my issues to insufficient nozzle temps due to an improperly tightened nozzle. I think the reason this started after changing spools from my original TecBears black PLA (which was a 5-star spool!) to the spools from my 2nd purchase is that the PLA formula was changed by TecBears (different temps, different winding), which exposed an underlying hardware issue that didn't affect the first spool. For this reason, I'm adding a star to the rating, bringing it to 4 stars. This value filament still isn't a 5-star filament, primarily due to the sloppy winding on the spool.

My Go-To, No Longer
This is my go-to black PLA. Super easy to work with and comes out with beautiful, shiny prints. Update 2/23/22 I ran out of the first roll that I bought, so naturally after having one of the best experiences I had with a filament, I bought more this month. Yikes. The roll, aside from being mildly tangled, was definitely off spec. The filament shredded the moment it rubbed on any hard surface. At first I thought it was extruder grinding issues, so I adjusted my settings (I tried bring the nozzle away from the bed. I tried slowing the flow, I tried cleaning the nozzle. I tried adjusting the boden tube. etc). But, then I tried 3 other filaments and the problem when away immediately. So I bought another 2 rolls just to see. I had such a good experience with the first roll, I wasn't going to give up on it that quickly--could've just been a bad batch. The next two rolls (one still had the brittleness, the other did not) were so tangled that they stopped going into the feeder just moments after I walked away from the print. The brittleness seems to be on any spool I got that now has the TechBears logo on it. The older spools just had a white label with the printing spec. Now I've got 3 bottoms of a Farfetch'd and 3 bad batches of filament and I'm out $60. I'm heartbroken. Until they start doing better quality control, stay away from this brand of filament.

Love it, buy it! :-)
A fantastic deal! This filament is reliable, easy to work with, and produces consistent results. It feeds smoothly through the extruder, adheres well to the build plate, and delivers clean, accurate prints with minimal stringing or warping. The colors come out vibrant, the layers bond nicely, and it holds up well across different types of projects. Whether for prototypes, functional parts, or decorative prints, it performs dependably and makes 3D printing straightforward and stress free.

Garbage
Awful. I average 10 fails per print where I need to go unwind the filament and refeed it. The look of the filament is alright not worth what you pay for it. Extremely inconsistent prints either one great one or god awful and it ships not dry so expect stringing, hair and bubbles in print quality

I've spent two days thinking my printer was at fault due to the filament not being passed through the extruder. I changed to another filament and printed the same project, and its printing without issue. Sorry, but not fit for purpose. **Updated 26/05/21** After the leaving the above review, I was contacted by a representitive from the company. He apologised for the issues I had with the first roll, and offered some money off a second roll if I would give them another chance. I took him up on this offer, as I needed more filament anyway, I was half way through printing an Ironman helmet :o) So the discounted roll (not free) arrived, and I set the printer up to continue my long print. I was using 200 degs on the nozzle and 50 on the bed, but with this new filament I had better results at 215 degs for the nozzle and 65 for the bed. Once I made this change, it adhered much better. These were not short prints either, we're talking between 12 and 16hrs per print. And I have not had one break!! I've now finished the helmet, and working on the post print, and I'm really very happy with the result of this second roll, and the support I received from the company. So I have no quarrel with updating this review, and look forward to using them again. Other company's wouldn't bother contacting you after leaving a rough review, they have your cash and that's, that. So hats off to these guys, they do care about their products quality.
