Join traveling reporter Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy, along with well-known friends such as Captain Haddock, as they embark on extraordinary adventures spanning historical and political events, fantasy and science-fiction adventures and thrilling mysteries. These full-color graphic novels broke new ground when they were first released and became the inspiration for countless modern-day comic artists. This repackaged hardcover volume contains 3 classic Tintin stories, including: Tintin in America , Cigars of the Pharaoh , and The Blue Lotus . Review: Tintin, always great. A classic! - It is great to have 3 of Tintin's adventures in 1 book. I used to read Tintin as a kid and always loved it. I bought these for my 7 year old son and he reads them constantly, a testimony of the quality in these times when the younger generation does not read much. The only problem I've found with these books is that the format is smaller tan the original which detracts a bit of the image quality at times. Still, comfortable to read in a smaller size. I also get to read them sometimes, still find them entertaining after 40 years! Review: A compact, well-designed set of three early Tintin graphic novels - The three novels presented in this compact set are among the early Tintin graphic novels by the Belgian writer and artist Herge. These novels are not among his best works and do not include some of the fun characters that were introduced later, like Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus. Further, the small size of the book takes some of the allure of the large frame editions. But the high quality of the print and the translation as well as the fact that you get a 3-in1 set should make this a good choice for people who do not a lot of space to keep the larger prints.

Fun adventure
Bought this for a 9 year old to read because he likes comic strips plus he had watched the Tintin movie and wanted to find out more about the characters. It is an old fashion comic. The topics are normal for the time period, which leads to questions being asked of a younger reader. The adventures are about Tintin and his dog. They get into and out of trouble. Each of their adventures have a problem that needs to be solved. Our book has been read through 2-3 times and is presently being read again. Generally a fun quick read.

Tintin collection
Some reviews have made note of the size. I think this is a good size for reading. I purchased this collection to have an English companion for the Chinese volumes I bought to practice reading Chinese. I think they're a good size. I did however have the same comment about the size with the Chinese versions. With Chinese characters, when the font gets smaller, some of the busy characters are hard to read. To a native reader/speaker it shouldn't be a problem, but for a learner it's a little small. So this may be small for some, but I think the size is just fine (English letters aren't nearly as busy as most Chinese characters).

Glad to have read - a bit juvenile
When I was a child, a relative sent us several "Adventures of TinTin", but we couldn't read them, as they were in French. We would look at the pictures and try to guess what was going on, but I always wondered what the story was. I was very happy to see these and started off with this one (Vol 1). This book is small, and the font is small as well (my recollection is that the childhood books were full size). I'm glad to have read these, but I can see that they would appeal to a younger group - there are MANY captures/dangers and escapes in the nick of time... this happens over and over again. There is a heavy dose of coincidence as well. These are fine if you want action/adventure/capture/escape tales, and probably lots and lots of fun to adventurous-loving young people around 8-13 years. As an adult, I find The Three Investigator stories to be much more enjoyable reading. As for now, I'm not sure if I'll buy another set.

A great value on an old classic.
My daughter loves them! Small fonts are harder for my old eyes, but clear and vibrant. Good paper stock, good binding, and great packaging. A great value on an old classic.

Fantastic
I only read one or 2 Tintin books when I was a kid, which I thought were great, but, for some reason, never read any more. One was a two parter 'Secret of the Unicorn' the other was 'The Black Island' - libraries never had many (they were usually in really tatty condition with pages missing or someone had written on them etc - like the Asterix series, being so popular they were very well thumbed or ripped to shreds or both. Anyway, You grow up, move on, become world worn etc. Now well into my thirties more than 20 years later, I stumbled across the A5 3 in one volumes on amazon. The long forgotten kid in me stirred and thought - you can read the lot!!! -after all you can do what you like! Found myself ordering them 2 weeks ago.... and...what can I say, they are fantastic TT In America, Cigars of the Pharaohs & The Blue Lotus. Quality timeless stories with enough interest and adult subtlety to want to read them again and again, however old you are. I like the way the opium smuggling plots dovetale into one another (CotP - TBL).You just get totally lost in these cleverly written tomes - something I have not done with a book for a long, long while. They have some sort of 'Indiana Jones'/'Agatha Christie'/'Dick Barton' feel to them (I guess being set/ written in the same period (1930s)action packed / detective work. Great switch off reading. Go buy them!
