I HAD PURCHASED A WATERCOLOR PENCIL SET FROM ARTEZA AND FOUND IT WANTING IN SO MANY AREAS, PIGMENT VIBRANCY, LED QUALITY, SHARPENABILTY AND I FOUND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE UNREACHABLE, JUST TO NAME A FEW ISSUES I HAD WITH THE ARTEZA SET. WHEN I FOUND THIS CASTLE ARTS SET I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A TRY. THAT WAS OVER A MONTH AGO, I WAS AND STILL AM SIMPLY AMAZED BY THIS GREAT SET! THE PROS: *THE SET HAS A WIDE VARIETY OF HIGHLY VIBRANT PIGMENTED COLORS! *THEY WORK VERY WELL IN LAYERING COLORS DRY ON DRY TO CREATE A WET WASH OR EVEN WET ON WET TO CREATE DIFFERANT COLORS AND SHADES. *USING THEM IN WET ON WET, I'VE FOUND BY DIPPING THE PENCIL LED INTO CLEAN WATER FOR 4-5 SECONDS THE COLOR EXPLODES IN A DAZZLING WAY ON PAPER! *THE PENCILS ARE MADE OF QUALITY LED & WOOD MAKING THEM VERY EASY TO SHARPEN AND I HAVE YET TO HAVE A SINGLE LED BREAK!!! (TIP: WHEN SHARPENING WATERCOLOR PENCILS USE A HAND SHARPENER AND ALWAYS TURN THE SHARPENER NEVER THE PENCIL.) *THEY VERY WORK WELL, DRY ON DRY, WET ON DRY AND WET ON WET! *IT IS VERY EASY TO GET A SHARP POINT FOR ADDING VERY FINE LINES TO YOUR PAINTING. SEE PIC #1 & #2 *THE CASE IS VERY STURDY MAKING IT EASY TO STORE AND TRANSPORT. I LOVE THIS CASE! *IT IS VERY EASY TO TAKE PIGMANT DIRECTLY FROM THE LED WITH A WET BRUSH TO EITHER PAINT OR CREATE A MIXING OF VIBRANT COLORS ON A PALLET! *THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY! *THEY WOULD BE A GREAT GIFT FOR BUDDING ARTISTS AND A NICE SET TO GIFT FOR PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS. *CASTLE ARTS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HANDS DOWN, IMPRESSIVE AND OUTSTANDING! CONS: * THEIR DEMO VIDEOS AND SUPPLIMENTY PDF INSTRUCTIONS ARE SERIOUSLY LACKING. *THE COLOR PRINT ON THE WATERCOLOR PENCILS ARE INCREDIBLY SMALL COMPARED TO OTHERS ON THE MARKET!!! I SPEND AN INORDIANT AMOUNT OF TIME TRYING TO FIND THE COLORS I WANT IN MY PAINTINGS. YOU CAN SEE THE COMPARRISON DIFFERENCE IN PIC #4 CASTLE ARTS IS ON THE TOP. *I WISH THEY HAD COME ORGANIZED BY COLOR FAMILY INSTEAD OF NUMERICAL ORDER. I'VE SPENT CONSIDERABLE HOURS RE-ARRANGING THEM INTO A EASILY USABLE FASHION. *THE ADDITION OF A LARGER ZIPPER PULL WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL! I'M CONSTANTLY HAVING TO SEACH FOR THAT TINY THING AND THEN HOPE I CAN GRASP IT, VERY FRUSTRATING INDEED. * ADDING A SWATCH CARD WHERE ARTISTS COULD TEST EACH COLOR WOULD BE HUGELY HELPFUL, MANY PAINT AND PENCIL SETS COME WITH THIS COURTESY. IT WOULD BE A REALLY NICE ADDITION TO THIS ALREADY GREAT SET. I WOULD HAVE DEDUCTED A STAR FROM THIS RATING FOR THE CONS IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE QUALITY OF THIS SET'S PROS. THEY ARE A SPLENDID SET FOR ARTISTS OF ALL LEVELS INCLUDING MY ART INSTRUCTOR WHO HAS HAD OVER 30 YEARS OF EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION!!! FINALLY #4 A COMPARISON OF THE PRINT SIZE ON TWO DIFFERENT WATERCOLOR PENCIL SETS, THE TOP IS CASTEL ARTS, THE BOTTOM IS ARTEZA.

Great quality! Great combination of color palette. Cost effective. Wonderful for blending.

This was bought for my granddaughter's birthday and is similar to one that I own & so I knew it would be just what she wanted. The fact that it is in a zipper case gives the presentation an edge along with the choice of colours of water pens, which can also be used dry. Wow, the quality of colour is exceptional & is perfect for blending or intensifying, having seen a picture that is in progress I was blown away by the definition & beauty taking place. They are very smooth & a good weight to hold in the hand. Also, you only require a little water to bring about the depth of colour.

I’m very pleased with the pencils. I’m still getting used to the amount of pressure to use for the best coverage. I used some rough watercolor paper and with some of the lightest colors I did apply a second application's. The pencils have the number and the color name printed on them. I bought the set in the canvas case. I feel like the case is equal in quality to a case for my Inktense pencils which cost more than this 72 pencil set and case. Plus the extras that Castle Arts includes are impressive. The pencil testing sheet was a real surprise-numeric and name for each block. The booklet on using these pencils had some real tips for me. I’m not a professional watercolor artist and don’t focus painting in my own work. I am going to use them for rough drafts for my projects. If watercolor is your medium you might prefer an artist level set. But I am very pleased with the range of colors and the quality of pencils . The quality of this set is excellent value for the cost. I definitely will not hesitate to purchase any materials from Castle Arts!!

I bought these a while back and am just now writing a review. I love them and love the travel case. They are second only to my Prismacolor. Good variety of shades.

I am a newbie using watercolor pencils, based on reviews I thought I’d give these a try. I am really enjoying these, easy to use, I love the colors and the zip case is super nice!!

Beau choix de couleurs avec une belle pigmentation. Il vaut mieux aquarelles la pointe que colorier et aquarelles après car cela laisse des traces. Mais la variété des couleurs permet de jolis dégradés et le rapport qualité prix est pas mal. Plus coloriage qu’aquarelle pro mais bien pour min usage.

Creo que son unos buenos lápices de colores y, sobre todo, ofrecen una relación calidad-precio insuperable. Los colores son suaves y quedan bien definidos; admiten buenas gradaciones y difuminados. Por otro lado, su diseño exterior es magnífico, facilitando enormemente la identificación y localización de cada lápiz, cosa que me cuesta más con los Polychromos de Faber-Castell.

These are for my daughter taking art in high school. Brilliant set. Allows her imagination to run wild with an array of colours at her fingertips!

This is the best deal you can get to get started with 120 colour pencils. The pencil case is wonderful. You get high quality pigment in each colour, very bright, very smooth but not breakable leads, good quality of wood for pencils case. Choice of colour is awesome, you only have some pastel colour missing and fluorescent hues. Some say there is not enough brown palettes but it’s not my opinion, you have a lot of green, blue and very special pinks as bengals Rose and azalea pink, magnificent range of purples. There is a very strong unpleasant smell for a few days but it doesn’t last long. They were delivered before time and were in pristine condition.
