This may be a silly question, but how do you open/unfold this bucket? I am afraid to force it open, in case it breaks.

Really easily. I usually put my palm on the base of the inside of the bucket and push it out. To fold it flat again I put my palm on the base on the outside and push it. It is sturdy so it does take a lot of pressure easily.

Can you wring the mop in the lid

This is a collaps@ble bucket and does not have a lid. I find it useful as when it is flat it stores easily in a cupboard. I usually let it dry after use before putting it away. For my floors I use a standard bucket made for use with a floor mop.
