I use this adapter cable to connect the main XLR outputs of a sound mixer to the 3.5mm input on my Panasonic S5iiX camera. I’ve used it with both a Sound Devices 442 mixer and also a Soundcraft EFX-8. I do this when a i need to run multiple mics into the camera, like for live streaming. It’s much easier to stream to YouTube or Zoom this way by just using an HDMI capture card. The audio is married to the video over HDMI, and I don’t need to worry about using a switcher or software to make sure the two are in sync. I just set the mixer’s main outputs to be line level, set my cameras input for line level, and connect both devices. I add XLR cables if I need extra length, but 3ft is good for keeping it short enough to fit in the zipper pocket of my camera bag. It’s long enough if my sound mixer and computer is on a cart next to my camera, and if it’s father the plugs aren’t getting in the way of other camera accessories or cables. I like that it has the red and blue marked connectors so I can easily keep track of which is right and left. The 3.5mm plug is straight, so just make sure your camera has enough room to plug it in. If you need a more low profile solution you can use a right angle adapter or a short extension cable with a right angle male plug and a female on the other end. XLR connectors are decent quality. Not Neutrik or Switchcraft but they’re fine for most uses. Haven’t had any issues with them getting stuck in the outputs on the mixers. There’s a built in strain relief junction where the split happens. If you want to be able to use your cameras 3.5mm input for a breakaway cable or to connect to the main outputs of a pro-level mixer and not spend a ton of money, this adapter cable is a good choice.

The narrow barrel on the 1/8" mini stereo connector is a necessity now. This gives me a reliable, noise free connection. Happy purchase.

Well built, but the buyer is defective. I didn't realize I'd bought the wrong part and have to use a barrel connector to get the right XLR plug to plug into my speakers. So, to clarify, the XLR plug is the Female pins that typically would be plugged into an output.

I use these to carry my matrix feed from my Behringer X-32 to my ATEM mini pro. It's perfect! I like the feel of the cables and terminals. Signal quality is great as well. Will probably order another soon.

I use this to connect my Zoom H2 Essential to our 7-piece band's mixing board during concerts. We use the hardwired channel to record the band and another channel using internal microphones to record crowd reaction. Highly recommended!
