Quality adapter built and works well
Previously I bought some lower cost adapters from chinese sellers (and to be fair, I think this StarTech adapter is also made in China) that were a single block connector with DVI on one side and HDMI on the other. For me, a heavy HDMI cable coming out of this type of adapter puts too much strain on the video card connector and would eventually lead to failure. The combination of stiff cable + adapter sticking out of the video card acts like a lever for anything that bumps into it or if the cable is accidentally pulled on. I also found those adapters to be a poor fit to the HDMI cables- they were very tight and a lot of pressure needed to be exerted to insert the cable into the adapter.By contrast the StarTech adapter with it's short flexible cable puts any strain much closer to the video card and removes the leveraging effect of the other type of adapter. Because it has a short cable, if the HDMI cable plugged into it gets snagged or tugged from the side, it's much more likely to pull free from the adapter, instead of snapping the connector off the video card. This adapter was more expensive than the first kind I got from a chinese seller, but it's much better built, the connectors fit better, and it's a lot cheaper than replacing a video card because it's connector got snapped off. All things considered, a very good buy.

Adapter
Just plugged this into my laptop and my large screen for old computer and it works great. The small screen is ok, but the larger screen is much better and so easy to see. This works great.

Worked exactly as I expected.
My old computer has no DVI connection, and I had been using a VGA port and cable to connect to my old monitor. The computer, however, did have an HDMI port in the back that wasn't being used. I was able to use this short, inexpensive cable, which has an HDMI plug at one end and a female DVI port at the other, to convert to the HDMI connection on my computer, and plug the DVI cable for my new monitor into that. It worked perfectly. Once I disconnected the old VGA cable, the new monitor came on, and has worked normally since. I highly recommend this product.

Works Great, almost perfect
The cable works. The picture displayed on the TV has maybe 30 - 50 pixels missing at the edge - for Windows, the Start button is off-screen. Wasn't expecting this, but have never used DVI to HDMI adapter before. It is attached to an HP wireless HDMI transmitter, so that could also contribute. Overall, I can get around the problem by moving the cursor off-screen in the corner, blind clicking, and bring up the start button menu. No big deal, the purpose is to connect to a TV in a lobby with a more or less static display.

Perfect for my use
I was risking eyestrain with my laptop screen when I remembered I could plug in my unused big PC monitor and use that as a screen instead. My monitor has better color representation than the laptop I was using. This piece does the job perfectly and it's still working as I'm writing this today on Dec 2023. I didn't need to do anything more than plugging it in and turning things on.

Worked and good build quality
The performance of a short cable like this is probably not a big deal but this did work. The thing I find with some of these cables is that the fit is really tight or lose. The quality of this was good and it was easy to plug and unplug it the many times I did. I used it to troubleshoot a video issue I had as this allowed me to bypass a DVI switch I had in my amplifier. I installed and removed it many times.

Startech
So I use Startech products in my professional life, generally oddball monitor output converters.. the stuff just works.. I tend to search them out over others because there’s no drama.. I need an adaptor to do X and it just flys.. I’m not looking for the lower cost option I’m looking for no phone calls and BS, this brand is money.
