Great finish, a bit too deep for a std. license plate
I love the way this looks. As constructed, there is too much depth to the frame and the plate can rattle in the frame. The rear of the frame can damage paint. I installed vinyl bumpers on the back to prevent damage to my tailgate

Tips for ordering
1. email seller right after placing order to request PDF of how your words will look on the frame. (not pic of engraved frame, just digital mock-up of size and spacing) While you can somewhat see a preview on Amazon, it's not exactly how it will turn out because they increase and stretch the words to fill the frame, unless you request otherwise. The seller is happy to help, though, as it helps prevent return requests.2. The chrome version is a deeper frame than the black one and has kind of sharp edges, so more likely to touch, and possibly scratch the bumper. Could happen with either version, depending on the car. Easily remedied with a spacer that can either be purchased at a local car parts store or online. I bought a $5 one at Auto Zone.3. Engraving on both chrome and black frame look good. Chrome is more subtle from far away.

Get the brushed finish for readability
This is a very high quality frame. I expect it to outlast the car. When I ordered my frame, it was available in either shiny or brushed stainless. I ordered the shiny finish. It turned out to be like a mirror, and made my engraving difficult to read. I contacted the seller, DogTags, and they immediately volunteered to replace it with a brushed finish frame. Fantastic customer service! The brushed finish is very attractive, and makes the engraving easy to read.Another reviewer pointed out that the depth of the frame may cause the edges to rub against the car's paint. I had a similar problem on my car. Other cars may have mounts that protrude further and would prevent the edges of the frame from rubbing. To fix this, one washer on each of the top holes was enough thickness to prevent the top of the frame from rubbing. Stick the washers to the back of the plate with tape to hold them in place. The lower part of the frame partially covers the lower mounting holes, so I couldn't use the lower screws to secure the bottom of the plate. I put several layers of foam mounting tape squares on the back of the plate over the lower holes. These press against the lower mounts on the car and prevent the plate/frame from rubbing or rattling. So it took a little extra effort on my part (15 minutes - I had all the materials on hand), but the results were worth it.

Worth every cent!
Even better than I had hoped! In honor of raising awareness for a friend who's two little boys ages 4 and 5 were killed by someone texting and driving. Thank you for a product that helps to send such an important message!

Looks very distinguished -- Very pleased with my license plate frame
I was replacing a previous license plate holder with the word "ALUMNI" at the top and my alma mater's name on bottom that was made with nice vivid colors but was nothing more than two plastic bars stuck to a metal frame with adhesive. And what happened? The plastic sticker bar that listed my alma mater's name fell off in a car wash!! As I searched for a replacement, all I could find were the same plastic sticker bars on metal. I began to wonder: What ever happened to the quality engraved license plate holders that used to dominate the selection of license plate holders? One day, as I was browsing on Amazon, I found this option and gave it a try. I ordered the Polished option and am very pleased with this license plate holder. The font is perfect and exactly as projected when I ordered it. The lettering looks crisp and classy and shows up (can be read) when hung on the car with no issues. Most of all, the days of worrying about when the plastic sticker bar with my alma mater's name on it is going to fall off of the metal license plate holder are OVER!!!UPDATE 6/4/17: I ordered another license plate frame here -- this time I got the brushed steel license plate frame and I like it a lot better. Learn from my mistake and heed the advice of other reviewers and get the brushed steel one; the chrome one is very nice but it really does create a mirror effect. However, the brushed steel is easier for people to read while you're driving around. I should have listened the first time, but I've corrected my mistake and am thrilled with the brushed steel frame.

Buyer Beware
This was an absolute piece of junk for the price. I'm seething that I bought this on impulse without researching other products for such. Personally, I feel it's about $17 overpriced. The engraving came out nice, so I'm thinking the predominant amount of the cost was for the engraving. Then again, a robot does this, and probably did so in a few seconds. It's stated that the metal is "heavy duty". I assure you it's not beefy at all. It's a very average license plate holder.I bought the brushed stainless steel version and am happy for having made the selection on that version. However, the product did not come with stainless steel screws. It did come with two polished steel PLASTIC caps that you are to use to cover over a screw--if it fits your screw heads in the first place.Yeah, I would've returned it as completely dissatisfied, but again, it was my fault for not having more fully researched out such products.Note: The order arrived with no billing receipt, no Thank You for the purchase.
