CL2940 Corded Phone with Speakerphone, Extra-Large Buttons and Tilt Display, Caller ID/Call Waiting, Audio Assist Volume Boost, Black

Update: 5/15/20 - After using this phone for a year, I have raised my overall rating to 5 stars!! This is not a fancy phone, but it gets the job done well at a very low cost. Mount it correctly and you will have a great phone with lots of features, a display that you can easily read from 6 feet away, and sound quality that is excellent. All I really needed was a caller ID display on a phone in my shop. We get about 8 or 10 robo calls a day, and I just wanted to be able to screen calls without running to another room to see a caller ID. This phone is great for that. The display is clear and the quality of the audio is pretty good. I would have given the phone 5 stars, but the quality of the audio on the speaker phone is not good. Yes, you can tell what someone is saying, but the speakerphone audio quality is poor. If the quality was better, this would have been a 5-star review, but then this would likely have been a $60 to $100 phone. This phone was what I needed. Update 3/3/19: I forgot to mention that the phone mounts very well on a wall. It has the standard two pin spacing slots on the rear for a wall plate. If you look at the side view photos submitted by people that say the phone does not wall mount, you can see that they are using only one of the two available mounting slots. If the instructions are followed, there is no problem using a wall mount.

I needed a hands free desk phone with mute. The tilted display is outstanding and a major improvement. This allows the local area code to be defaulted so you only have to dial 7 numbers locally, which is nice. Built in caller ID. Excellent quality and does everything expected.

Nice little landline telephone. The only thing that this phone needs is a light as illustrated in the picture on-line.

If you're looking to buy a good land line telephone, like the ones we had back in the day, you don't need me to tell you it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. No one seems to carry them anymore. I looked just about everywhere: Staples, Best Buy, Costco, BJ's, PC Richard.... you name it, I looked there too, all to no avail. It's as if they've gone extinct like the dinosaurs. When I came across this AT&T phone on AMAZON, it was like hitting LOTTO. I hurried and bought one for my home office and I couldn't be more happy with it. It looks great on my desk, and the features are not complicated. In other words, I didn't have to ask a child to explain to me, how to use them.

Very nice phone for hard of hearing with caller ID and other features. The speaker phone function works great with my pocket hearing aid, I can understand what's being said better on this phone than the other speaker phone I have.

ADVERTISING PICTURE IS DECEIVENG ABOUT DISPLAY---I bought this phone (AT&T CL2940) for an elderly person and the caller ID feature is almost un-readable as it is NOT backlit and only an LCD display,it needs an outside light facing it to actually read it clearly. As far as it working,well it's a phone and does what a phone is supposed to do,it sounds clear on both ends,ringer loudness is good for hearing around the house,set up was plain and simple,5 minutes,,if only the display was backlit,then it would recieve 5 stars.

This is a speakphone that is great for a home office. It uses the "old time" phone jack plug. I plugged into my internet modem box as my service package includes a VoIP landline and it worked immediately. Speaker is clear plenty loud for me, a middle age male, set in the middle volume range. I recently used it for a condo board meeting for some people who called in, board members all commented it was easier to hear than the iphone we had been using. It also has large text and numbers if your reading glasses are not in reach of the phone (... for us folks of a certain age) I use it for meetings for those "work from home" days: it is far better for long meetings than the earbud I was using on my cell and sound quality is better than the cell. The earbud would hurt my ear after about 30 minutes so this is a better option for me. The lit mute and speaker on lights are handy for conference calls. Entering numbers into the directory was straightforward and the speed/ directory dial works fast and easy. Although some of the better sound is likely due to the VoIP quality and not the phone itself, it does a better job at filling the room with sound than any cell speaker I have used. If you do conference call meetings in your office, you will like this phone - plus you can look stuff up on the cell without all of those handling noises!

1. When you pick up the handset, the hook switch does not readily pop up and connect you to the phone line. It looks like the lever that the handset rests on is not properly placed on the chassis of the phone and rubs against it or stays down completely. You have to tap the phone chassis to dislodge the hook switch or use the hands free button to answer the call. I am not sure who I need to contact about this. Since I have several years working in the telephone industry and I am the only one that will use this set, I can put up with this little problem. If this problem appears on other sets, those operators may not be able to understand what is happening. Over time this problem will wear through and clear by itself. 2. Sound quality feature. I live 5 miles out in the country. Usually a cheap phone will pick up all of the background hum that is induced into the telephone cables. This phone seems to keep all of that noise at bay. 3. Volume control is ok, but I don't need to turn it up really high to hear anything. 4. Battery Life. Since I have just purchased and set this phone up, I am not sure how long the battery life will be. 5. My main reason for purchasing this set was the large caller ID display. Since this is on my local phone number, I want to be able to see who is calling me before I answer the call. 6. Reason for over all rating was lack of customer support.

This telephone is really big compared to a cell phone, and that is exactly what I wanted. It is solid , practical, and respectable, and has a large ,easy to read display. The display is not backlit but will probably remain fully functional much longer than one that is. It has just the right amount of functions, and is very easy to operate. The necessity to use batteries is a little inconvenient, but I believe that the batteries will not require replacement often, and the nuisance of using a power adapter with a power cord is avoided. The ring sound is retro and pleasing. Audio is loud and clear. It works during a power outage. What more could one want?

This seemed exactly the product I had been looking for: corded, big caller display and attractive. The first thing I discovered was that the caller display was so pale that I had difficulty reading it, even with glasses on. I was so frustrated that I phoned the US but the more they explained, the more I realised that the UK system was the difference. The next thing I noticed was that my callers needed to put me on speaking phone to hear me. And finally one day there was a loud buzzing noise and it packed up altogether. Very disappointed. Hopeless in the UK.
