Dangerous Threads Natural Veg Tan 8/9 ounce Leather Belt Blank, Long Strip 1.5" x 60"

I made a belt from it. My buckle was for 1.25" so I cut off a strip on the side, but the leftovers were good for practice and small projects. It's thin enough for a belt, but thick enough to make a holster from. I dyed mine and finished it in aussie leather lotion, and with little maintenance and constant texas sweat and heat, it's lasted me a while. I've been hard on it, so it is starting to crack and lose strength in some areas. Still working fine. Great for learning a bit of leatherworking. Do keep in mind, it has a sort of waxy coating on the back. I assume that's just a byproduct of the tanning process or some leftover fat or something. It stays white after being dyed, so you might wanna sand it off before using dye.

On the recommendation of knife and sharpening expert, youtuber outdoors55, I decided to make the best leather strop I could possibly buy or assemble, and took a chance on this leather. The price is reasonable, I paid $20, and can get probably 5 strops out of the 60" piece. The 1.5" width works well. Used the suede side of the leather rather than the smooth side as recommended. It is quite fine and smooth and evenly finished. I used a very small dollop of diamond polish paste. Not an expert yet, but this seems to be working as intended.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Price point is very reasonable compared to other companies. This was a good quality leather strap. This material makes excellent belts. Takes color dyes well and tools easily.

Natural leather three is nothing like it for making a strop or belt.

I bought it to make a strop. The leather is harder than I expected (which is good), the rough side is nice and firm, and the density of the material is consistent along the belt Simply perfect

I use this strip of leather to strop knives after sharpening them and it works just fine as a hanging strop. Both sides are very well processed, smooth, no defects.

That first plant seems to be quite stiff. Once used becomes very pliable. Excellent material would definitely recommend it!
