Packaged in what looks like an excellent food grade bag that will retain freshness/flavour and appropriately labelled.The colours don't look exactly as bold ("contrasty") as the photograph, but the nutmegs all have mace streaks on them, some of it had broken loose in the bag during handling shipment, but I don't think at an unreasonable level, mine arrived in a box with other items on my order so had some level of protection. Perhaps if they were shipped alone in a jiffy bag, they may not endure the journey so well, as others had noted in their reviews - but I don't knwo this for sure.I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend to others. These are a gift so I did not open the packet and have not tried nor tasted them so cannot complete the 'Freshness" nor the Flavour" ratings at this time.

I have never ordered unprocessed nutmeg before so I didn't really know what to expect. I was not disappointed. I figured the photo was photoshoped to make it more colorful. Nope. That's the way they looked when I opened up the package. That red covering is "mace". It was not removed.After taking the mace off I began filing the nut like I saw in a photo. After not making any progress with the file I decided to try cracking the nut and that turned out to be the key. Inside was the nutmeg "meat" ready for grating.The package wasn't dated so I have no idea when it was picked but when grated, it smelled very fresh.I'm very happy with my purchase and the order came very quickly.

Fantastic. I don't know where else to get raw mace. Also some people in the reviews mention staleness. I think these may have indeed sat around for a bit, but it doesn't show in any way in the ground up flavor - which is fantastic.

Several things, first this does really look like the pictures. There are plenty of nuts in the package you receive. My issue to date is that this nutmeg does not seem to be grinding at all or at best very little. I am used to buying my nutmeg in an independent spice shop locally. I usually get a couple of nuts. They always have grinder extremely well and very fragrant. This nutmeg is not grinding in my grinder (BTW specifically made for Nutmeg). The first grinding seemed to take the colorful skin that you see here off and then I'm just not getting the fragrant nutmeg that I am used to. Maybe I recieved some bad nutmeg? Not really sure.

This stuff is beyond HARD! I hope you have a tough grinder!

Great product, but packaged like crap. Mace had fallen off of half the nutmegs. The seed were callously tossed into the cheapest cellophane bag you could purchase. Avoid this product, you won't be happy.

Excellent quality and aroma. Received 12 large, shiny, fresh whole nutmegs well packed in a plastic pocket from 2Tre. These are fine quality nutmegs not the dried out whole nutmeg (pale brown and no mace) offered by other vendors or in the local grocery store.Planning to buy more when my pumpkin pie spice mix runs out - nutmeg featured heavily in my mix and in my Caribbean rum cake.

I have had better product from this company. I purchased this item two years ago and every whole nutmeg was sealed and plump in it's shell. This though was different. I had one and a half good plump nutmegs out of this.... For anyone who loves nutmeg it should always fill the shell and not rattle at all. Similar to a full grape shape but if it looks like a raisin instead of a grape it's old and not as good.
