Nice, Very nice and clean design
Solid, easy to install, does not obstruct serial number on the gun, and versatile. The Mesa tactical sureshell carrier is made of aluminum. Cleanly machined, nicely finished, and is simple in design and utilization. It mounts to the gun via the replacement of two trigger assebly mounting pins with two sets of mated screws. I put a layer of electrical tape on the back of the carrier in case a sharp blow knocks it against the side of the gun. Other than that, no further modification was made. Be careful about which way the screws and washers go in, though, and, don't tighten the screws until everything is right. Also, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN these two screws..... The original pins do not exert lateral pressure on the sideplates of the gun, so a little more than snug with the screws should be the rule of thumb to avoid pinching the sidewalls. The carrier holds the shells in place via an inserted rubber tube across all six holders. This rubber tubing exerts friction on the shells and keep them from being too loose. You can mount the shells in the holder either primer side up or primer side down. I usually mount two slug shells, primer up in the front two cylinders then four buckshot shells, primer down in the rear four cylinders. With five buckshot shells in the tube, the slug shells are simply there 'just in case' you actually needed to reach out. The instruction says that the holder is not meant for shells to be stored on the shotgun. However, that's how we store ours; as a home defense tool, the gun is always loaded and the carrier is always configured with two slugs and four buckshot shells. We'll replace the rubber tube from time to time since it's a simple piece to get from local hardware stores. We will also replace the tube spring as needed in time. What good is a defensive tool if it is not ready at all times?

A great product from Mesa Tactical!
I recently installed the Sureshell Shotshell Carrier on my Remington 870 Tactical Express with Magpul SGA butt stock and forend. The carrier is made of solid aluminum and worth the extra money over the cheaper plastic models. The carrier kit had all the required parts and tools and installed easily. If your forend does not overlap the receiver and your follow the instructions, you will find installation a snap as I did. Reading the instructions is key: if you do not remove the springs that retain the trigger assembly pins, you will indeed have trouble installing the Chicago screws as other readers have noted. Make sure you secure the New screws with a little Locktite blue so that they will not work loose under use. After installation, the carrier is rock solid and holds the shells with just the right amount of friction so they won't fall out, but still be easy to remove. It looks great, too! I recommend this product highly!

One of Best 870 Side Saddles
Perfect fit on an 870. High quality, durable, reliable, well designed. Higher priced than others but you get what you pay for. Well worth it.

Best of the Best - look, feel and reliability
I'm guessing like most I did an endless amount of research and searching before I purchased a shotshell carrier from my Remington 870 Express Tactical pump. This was the correct purchase. It is solid, light and fairly simple to install. Do not waste your time and money on plastic, composite, junk - TacStar, Wilson Combat... *( I am a huge Wilson fan too ). This will last for as long as your shotgun. Besides having a cut out window for the guns serial number, this fits perfectly without any interference when the gun is racked from the forward grip. It is seamless. As far as installing I had a little issue with the instructions. They seam to be for a semi auto and not a pump as it takes you through steps for installing a new screw inside the chamber. You do not need to do this and there is not an extra screw to install anyway. Its just a little confusing. All you need to do is punch out the two pins ( Thin screw, thick screw ) above the trigger - they just pop out. Hint: Use the new hardware to punch them out after they are halfway through and the new screw and pin will fall right into place. If you didn't do that make sure the forward grip is forward and the action is open, otherwise the first smaller male/female screw will knock against part of the action. Keeping the action open will just move that internal piece out of the way. It is a really small internal blockage that the piece creates, but it can be seen in the opening. It just barely blocks that female screw from going all the way through. Other then that. Its simple. Love it.

Good shotgun saddle.
Durable product and will last a long time. Made of good sturdy material that can withstand punishment. Holds shells firmly but still easy to remove when needed. Fairly easy to install with the assistance of Youtube. Definitely worth the purchase for any shotgun owners.

Great quality product, but difficult to mount onto an 870 marine. the nickel surface makes the pin holes of the trigger assembly ever so smaller. needed a gun smith to help install.
