Review: Love this little book! - I love the little book of Yoga Breathing. It has helped me understand many techniques of breath work I thought were too complicated. Not only has it helped me with my training and yoga practice I have given it to many friends and clients who need to BREATHE. So many of us neglect this fundamental part of life. It is needed to sustain not only you as a physical alive being but as a mentally sound one. This book is quick, to the point and easy! I will buy this book again. Remember: "Just Breathe"! Review: Breathing made easy... - I love this little book; the author's sense of humor is one thing that caught my eye, but his writing is what I really like, not complicated or hard to understand and much easier than the other yoga breathing books that I've tried to read and follow. I'd recommend this to anyone that would like to further their education in pranayama breathing and thank you to the author for his time and his great little book.

Pranayama for the Inner Martial Artist
Hard to escape the obvious fact that Scott Shaw is seriously into his martial arts. He could just as easily entitled this small book "Samurai Pranayama". Useful, but very full on.

Ujjayi technique taught in here is incorrect
The Ujjayi breathing technique in the book as described is more accurately describing alternate nostril breathing rather than ujjayi pranyama. Ujjayi breath is known more as oceanic breath or sounding like darth vader by placing a slight constriction in the back of the throat as you breathe in and out. Good introductory book to breathing techniques, but having received two breath coach certifications and as an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and yoga therapist, double check the techniques introduced in this book with an actual breath coach or cross reference as some of the material in the book seems great, but others are showing a fundamental misunderstanding of the breathing technique discussed.

Basic & simple description of yoga breath
I bought this for my dad who was recently diagnosed with COPD. He knows nothing about breath work. He loved it! It is simple & basic reading. I have used it in my yoga classes that i instruct, to assist the students in understanding the importance & purpose of breath.

Not correct pranayama
There are several pranayama techniques that are just wrong in here. I thought I should look them up online to be sure, and it’s true. This isn’t a criticism, it’s actually a fact. Like the titles are not put onto the correct pranayama breath (ex: Brahmari the humming breath is supposed to be done with a humming sound on exhale. In the book, he says to make a snoring sound on inhalation but to exhale naturally through the nose.) Not sure why or how this has gotten published, but I’ll be looking elsewhere for proper technique.

Informative and easy to follow. This really is "Pranayama made easy". Readers new to the subject will find this book a very helpful introduction to it, whilst others will especially appreciate the large number of simply-explained practical exercises contained within this small volume.

It is what the title suggests. Concise and informative instructions allow anyone to try these techniques for the first time or hone any practice. Most people would benefit from paying attention to their breath - too often taken for granted, yet the way we breathe determines so much of how we think, feel and behave in the world.
