Phillips Head does NOT cam out.
I use these #6X2" screws for a variety of projects, where I am attaching plywood to various other boards. I especially like the extra length for building plywood boxes, where I am sinking the screw into the end grain of another piece of plywood, or parallel to the endgrain of a 1X4.My main concern with Phillips-Head screws is that the bit driver NOT cam out & strip the head. I have had ZERO problems with that, using these screws -- but, keep in mind that I am using an Impact Driver to set them. In particular, my 12-Volt impact driver seems to do a better job than my 18-Volt impact driver. I'm not sure why -- maybe there is less bouncing up & down of the driver Bit?? But if you use a Drill Motor to drive these in, you will get some camming out, if the wood is hard enough.Anyway, these Hillman screws are made of MUCH HARDER Steel than the Silver "Zinc" coated screws that you buy in small boxes at the Big Box Stores -- those are absolute JUNK, & will strip out very easily, especially if you hit 'em with am impact driver.
