Audio-Technica VMN95EBK Replacement Stylus Black

This stylus is really good value with one bonus and a biggy at that. It is black! Bought to replace the green version. Same thing but black. I could have used a felt pen. Purely cosmetic. As for the stylus itself....here goes. I have always used Ortofon. No more. Nothing wrong with Ortofon but Audio Technica suits my system and that is it! This stylus is very revealing and handles all types of music producing quite a sweet sound. I own a £400 Audio Technica cartridge/stylus. Obviously superior but I have to ask myself, is it worth the price difference? Where hi-fi is concerned, the law of diminishing returns really does apply. Being truthful, when I fitted my expensive cartidge it was quite a shock. It sounded exactly the same.......at first. Excluding a bit more bass the main differences were the higher frequencies. A lot sweeter. The main bit being the 'S' factor. Singing the word 'sweet' sounded like 'shweet' in some cases. Expensive = 'sweet'. There are other improvements that follow suit regarding the expensive but the price difference really isn't worth it unless you are a serious listener. This is a great stylus and cheap! One thing to think about is the fact that the entire range fits the same cartridge. You can upgrade to a better quality stylus without the hassle of changing the cartridge. All will improve the sound cost dependant. Do you need to?

ordered as replacement for original stylus ,seems to fit ok but be careful the item is very delicate & handling it too much may cause it to snap.

Love that it is now in black, and it now fits my Linn K9 without that ugly overhang that the old model had. Well done Audio Technica! And sounds great at this price level. And of course, it is upgradeable just by changing the stylus to the nude elliptical, micro-line or Shibata model.

The best budget stylus by a mile!

this is a great stylus that plays beautifully - i can certainly notice a step up from the default stylus that came with my record player. It’s a solid build and fits easily onto the arm. If you haven’t done it before take a moment to watch a few youtube videos. Remember, this the stylus only, not the cartridge so you’ll need to look elsewhere if that’s what needs replacing. Very happy with this.

I bought the Audio Technica LP3 turntable last year, an extremely good budget turntable and was advised to upgrade the cartridge and stylus to squeeze even more quality out of it. This is the one I chose and what a difference. The original cartridge that came with the turntable was no slouch but moving to elliptical was a revelation. A felt mat added and I couldn't be happier with the sound. Due to working from home I play my records eight hours a day and I'm getting about four or five months use out of a single stylus - which is amazing. One tip - you need to wear the stylus in before it starts giving you maximum sound quality, about four hours or so should see it purring.

Per ongeluk de naald van de groene at vm95e gebroken en er moest dus een nieuwe komen. De aanschafte versie is gelijk aan de vm95e alleen zwart van kleur. Na de cartridge vervangen te hebben meteen proef gedraaid. Oftewel ingespeeld. Volgende dag met meer aandacht geluisterd en het leek wel of deze zwarte versie beter klinkt dan de vorige groene versie. Zal mijn verbeelding wel zijn, maar het was gewoon weer genieten.
