This all-new edition has been updated with: New films that span the globe Detailed, full-color images Key quotations from the movies More movie posters than ever Up-to-date facts and movie trivia For students of cinema, discerning film buffs, DVD collectors, and readers who simply enjoy reminiscing over cherished screen moments, the 6th edition of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is a must-have compilation of film knowledge. Review: Highly recommended for those interested in a good breadth of cinema - Like others have pointed out here, this is a thorough and beautiful introduction to movies throughout history that you should consider seeing. I'm not a film expert or connoisseur - just someone who enjoys a whole gamut of movies, from new and old, domestic and international. I am so pleased that this book gives a fair treatment to older movies and a healthy inclusion of significant foreign movies. Some of the movies I don't think are the greatest, but who agrees with everything? I do see why those movies are included, though, either because others think they are great movies or because they had some noteworthy contribution to the development of cinema. But in addition to the list of movies chosen (if you just want a list of the movies, google it - you will find it) the authors give wonderful descriptions of and trivia for the movies. And it's a aesthetically well-presented book. Some reviewers have expressed disappointment that this book includes so many older and foreign movies. If you are only interested in modern American movies then maybe this is not the list for you, although many of us would feel sorry for you :). It's a shame you would pan the book for this, because it is up front in the description what its intentions are. I took the liberty of totaling the number of movies by decade (according to a recent edition), and you will see that it does give a broad selection, but by no means weighted on the older end. 1900-1919 7 1920s 43 1930s 90 1940s 97 1950s 133 1960s 157 1970s 160 1980s 162 1990s 157 2000s 121 2010-2014 54 Review: Look no further, this is the best encyclopedia of movies. - One might ask, why bother buying this book, there is much information available for free on IMDb. This is exactly what I was thinking...until I stumbled upon 2008's edition of '1001 movies'. I instantly decided to buy a latest edition, I was lucky, 2015 version was released only a couple of weeks ago. Every page in this book is about a masterpiece in the history of film, I was surprised to find here so many of my favorite movies, not only classic and modern American ones, but also European and Asian. You will not get to read here about movies like 'The Equalizer' or 'Fury', while they are good, they did not exactly make a difference in the history of their genres. But you most certainly, will get 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Star Wars V', 'Casablanca' as well as Polish 'Decalogue', Russian 'Levaithan' and Korean 'Oldboy'. Many movies are accompanied by photos, details about the film and a professional review. It's just so nice to have this book, the quality of paper is also really good. As you may expect, not all your favorite movies will be listed here. I was surprised that 'Kill Bill' was not there, I saw it in 2008 edition, but apparently, they removed it in 2015 in favor of 'Django Unchained'. One of the most beautiful movies that I saw - Kim Ki-duk's 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring' was not there either. 'Dawn of the planet of the Apes' is another one...I am sure there are others, too, but it shouldn't really influence your decision to buy. It's a must-have book for every movie fan, over 100 years of amazing movies is just one click away.

Everything a film lover desires in a book!
Wonderful book of information. Just browsing through the information and great reviews is thrilling. I received this yesterday and the only thing that has put a damper on this awesome book: the pages came away from the binding. Keep in mind that this is a huge book. Just not enough glue to hold all the great information. For this reason, I had to rate this with four stars. Buy the book. It is a joy!

Full of Movie Details
This book is full of movie details with each section covering a decade from "Birth of a Nation" through 2013. It is perfect for students of cinema, discerning film buffs, maybe DVD collectors, and readers who simply enjoy reminiscing over cherished screen moments. I am impressed by the list of foreign films from many countries. If you have Amazon Fire TV you can find and rent so many of the films listed in this book. I am so happy to have found this book.

One-Of-A-Kind
I bought the initial 2003 edition & was very impressed with the content, as well as, the beautiful, full page stills. I missed the 2005/2008/2011/2013 updates, so I thought I would try the 2015 to see what was new. The first improvement I noticed were the colored year tabs like a dictionary. I also liked the little sidebar blurbs on the films that consist of snippets by reviewers, actors' comments & trivia. The movie posters exclusive to this edition are a welcome addition. They substitute for some of the smaller images, but they aren't always better. I realize something has to be sacrificed for new material, but I miss some of those full page shots in my original edition. But, in the end, this is an exquisite book that I could not be without. I may even purchase some of the in-between editions to discover how they differ. FYI, it actually contains over 1150 films as opposed to 1001. The outer cover is a little cheap & wears easily starting with the corners. But that's a minor complaint. Mr. Schneider has done an admirable job. There is nothing else out there like it. It's not just a mindless, coffee table book. It is a well written work that truly is one-of-a-kind.

Awesome book
I got this as a gift for a son-in-law and he was blown away at the depth and detail of this book. While it didn't have some of my personal favorites, it did have a lot movies I'd never heard of. Because of the detail on each movie as well as trivia, I thought it was an interesting book to pick up and just read occasionally. It is a physically heavy book, so don't be surprised when you get it! In all very well done and I'd recommend it for any movie fan.

I really like this. The only thing that kept it from ...
I really like this. The only thing that kept it from being a five for me is that there was a disproportionate number of older films included. I bought it hoping it would inspire me to pick out movies for movie night that I hadn't seen. A lot of older films are hard to find and not something that really peaks the family's interest. Plus, a few of the films in the later years I think were selected more because of the media buzz around them and not really because of the quality of the movie. Which is fair-you might want to see it to know what all the buzz is about, etc-, just not what I had hoped for. Still a good gift for a movie lover.

Alles in allem, überhaupt kein guter Service!

Brilliant book and service
Superb book, full of useful facts and info covering the most important movies ever made. They're arranged by year and there is a brilliant tick list in the front so you can keep track of the movies you've seen. It was delivered promptly and very well packaged. I would definitely recommend this product and seller.
