LONG THOROUGH REVIEW from a skeptical pessimist
This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons: - I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar - I've tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work. - I've read some of the horrifying reviews - I'm just a skeptical person and simply didn't think this would work. BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW. For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That's how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them) Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don't know what else to say because it's absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They've been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I'm still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy. Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don't want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I'm thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they're not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I'm also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars. As for some claiming that the collar doesn't work.. I'm not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur. The collar isn't greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it's still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life. I'm sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE! **Side note** Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions. Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

No side effects
Perfect for the dog owner who is terrible at remembering to give a monthly chew. I love these! Very budget friendly. We have a dairy farm with working border collies and an inside husky princess and have used these for years. Our dogs have never gotten fleas or ticks so very effective and have never broken a collar off. Very durable and last the full length of time. We have not seen any side effects-no scratching, hair loss, redness or irritation of any kind. Highly recommend!

Good product
Work well to keep our large outdoor dogs free of fleas and ticks. Last 6 months. They are more expensive than many other collars, but worth it.

Works well for my sensitive guy
My 35lb boy is extremely sensitive to fleas and we were waiting until his next vet appt to get his prescription flea and tick meds filled. While he waited I was worried he would encounter fleas and have a bad flare up, so I ordered this collar to use in the meantime that way I could easily take it off before I give him his refilled prescription. I was nervous at first because I’ve heard very mixed reviews about these things since they are essentially a chemical collar and my boy is so sensitive. However, this has kept him flea-free for over a month so far and he has not had a single negative reaction to it. I’m also sensitive to smells and he likes to cuddle in bed with us so I was worried the collar would give off a strong scent or leave a residue, but it’s completely clean with no smells or residue! Very satisfied

Worked great but sadly...
It did its job. It kept fleas and ticks off our dog. Unfortunately, she was allergic to the collar. She developed a rash on her stomach. I assumed it was just her normal allergies that she gets from time to time. We put her on her allergy medication hoping the rash would go away. It didn't. We took her to the vet, and they said to remove the collar and see what happens. After a few days the rash started going away. I still recommend the collar. All dogs are different.

My honest thoughts, great purchase
f you’re tired of remembering monthly flea treatments or dealing with messy spot-ons, the Seresto flea collar might be your new best friend (besides your actual pet, of course). I!ve used them for my dogs (30lb, 50lb, & 160 lb) and here’s the deal: it actually works. It claims to protect against fleas and ticks for up to 8 months, and surprisingly, it kind of delivers. Within a couple days, I noticed way fewer fleas, and ticks? Haven’t seen one since. What I like: • Super low-maintenance – You put it on and forget about it (well, mostly). • No gross smell or sticky stuff – It’s not greasy, and you won’t smell chemicals every time your pet walks by. • Water-resistant – Bath time or a quick swim doesn’t kill the magic (though too many baths might shorten its life a bit). • Long-term win – It’s a bit pricey upfront, but if you break it down over 8 months, it’s cheaper than monthly treatments. A few things to watch out for: • Skin sensitivity – Some pets might react to it. Mine have been completely fine. • Not a bug shield – It doesn’t repel fleas and ticks, it just kills them once they make contact. • Fake products online – Definitely buy from a trusted store or your vet. There are some sketchy knockoffs floating around that don’t work (or worse). Bottom line: If your pet tolerates wearing it, the Seresto collar is a total game-changer. It saves you time, mess, and gives your pet long-lasting protection. Just keep an eye on them for the first couple days after putting it on, and you’re good to go.

Never had any reactions, 4 years running
I have a german shepherd/ black lab mix (possible aussie or blue tick hound) who is about 70 pounds and 8 years old. When i was a kid my pets got fleas really bad and mom tried everything. And i mean everything. To avoid the expensive veterinarian care. She ended up buyung these and in the long run spending more than the vet bill wouldve been in total costs with all the treatments we tried, but less instantly with buying these alone. Turned around our pets conditions in less than a week (2 cats less than a year old but fully grown, a pitbull mix ~ 1 year old, a pom mix 3 to 5 years old). So i continued buying these for my pups for the last 6 years. One has passed recently due to other complications, a pomeranian mix about 9 to 11 years old (same one as at my moms house). None of the pets ive seen with these have had any reaction. I will say my larger dog has dry skin problems but she had that before i used these collars and before i met her. These collars dont make it worse. Super simple, one complaint. It advertises reflective attachments. Yeah theyre not so great. Break easy and are hidden in fur so it doesnt work. They also became a tangle spot on my pom. But the collars work very well and are worth the money on their own. My large dog is still flea and tick free with a year old collar, but its winter now. I can honestly say they are effective for 6 months to a year. A word to the wise: follow all warnings and instructions. Clip the collar to the length of your dog's neck plus about an inch or two, cinch it down in the rings on the collar and remove the collar before baths. Keep your dog from chewing the collar and licking you after putting it on. Wash your hands. If your dog develops a reaction based on an allergy include that in the review, because not every dog has an allergy. If your dog ate the collar or chewed on it include that too bc its different if its just a normal wearing collar situation that causes something and if a dog eats something theyre not supposed to. I wonder how many bad reviews are based on this? Seresto however should include a warning label for allergens if there isnt one already. The collar becomes a dark grey and a hard plastic when its expired. Fresh out of the pack its soft and light grey with a white powder coating. We tried cheaper collars, they dont work to kill established fleas and they dont prevent ticks or flea eggs. Theyre little more than citronella bug spray in effectiveness. Seresto collars have the added benefit (im guessing they cant advertise bc its not been scientifically tested) of repelling any blood sucking pests. Ive not noticed any mosquitoes on my dog and we moved to an area last summer where they have mosquito trucks bc the mosquitos are that bad (they didnt have the trucks in tennessee, do in illinois). Cheaper collars dont do that. Seresto collars all the way for us! Will update on the off chance my dog develops a reaction.

wow
The collar works great. Almost never a tick on her, even after deep woods and brush. Maybe there will be one or two but they will be on top of the fur sort of crawling around dazed and slow and don't really dive back into the fur out of sight like usual. I've found maybe one or two in several months that did manage to attach successfully, but they were shriveled and dead. The important part is that they generally stay away from her and she doesn't end up dragging them in the house. I was hopeful this would work. It seems safer than the pills that make their blood circulate nuerotoxins for 1-3 months at a time. Too sketchy. The ticks in new england are out of control, and my dog is a hunting dog. So it's unavoidable, she is in tick infested cover all day. I've picked over 100 ticks off her after just one outing once, and then decided ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Called Seresto after i got it and confirmed the serial number. Yes, there are horror stories about fake collars on amazon, but they do have legit ones. Just make sure it's sold directly from amazon and call seresto after to check the serial # for authenticity.
