Great for me and my arthritic hands!

I did find improvement in the blades I sharpened but not to the degree I wanted or expected.

This was a good purchase. I will explain how I arrived at this conclusion.I tested this sharpener by sharpening some good quality older steak knives that were very dull. Initially I only used slot two with not much result. After reading the instructions completely, I sharpened each knife by the following way: I pulled the knife toward me five times in the number one slot. I then pulled the knife toward me five times in the number two slot. Then I pulled and pushed the knife five times through the number three slot. The whole process for a single knife did not take more than a minute.The steak knives easily cut hanging paper afterward. I think I could repeat the process for slots 2 & 3 only and get them even sharper. Or perhaps just slot three.The second test was with a 4" imitation sling blade pocket knife. It had a decent edge already, so I used slots 2 & 3 as noted above. It easily cut the hanging paper, sharper than the steak knives, but stopped just short of shaving the hair on my arm. Once again, I feel if I worked it using slot three, I could get a much better edge. But I did it this way just to get a more standardized way of how well this sharpener works.I really like the design. It is very stable and with the extended handle there is no danger of cutting yourself. I do not feel this is a professional quality sharpener. But it is exactly what it is advertised to be, made for home use. I am really glad I have it! I did receive this sharpener at a discount for my honest review.

This was a great addition to our kitchen. We have sharp knives again. This knife sharpener has 3 levels. The first is for really dull knives, which got a lot of use in our kitchen. The second is to sharpen on a more everyday use. The third is for ceramic knives. You are able to sharpen both steel and ceramic knives with this sharpener. It also has a no slip bottom that makes it easy to sharpen the knives without having the sharpener slide all over. The handle also makes it easier to sharpen the knives as well. THis sharpener does well with maintaining your knives and is a great addition to any kitchen.I chose to write this review. This knife sharpener is easy to handle and use. It is pretty lightweight and easy to hold onto. The instructions on the package are a little bit difficult to understand until you substitute the word step for the word method. I sharpened a good quality knife that it did a pretty good job with as the knife was nicely sharpened when I was finished. The knife was not very dull to begin with soI did not need to use all three steps in this knife sharpener. The knife I sharpened looks just like the one in the advertisement but is the slightly smaller one from the set. The openings on the sharpener are set up so they are placed very well and make perfect contact with the blades of the knife that is being sharpened.I received this knife sharpener at a discount in exchange for an honest review after using it.

My husband is always complaining about our kitchen knives not being sharp when he goes to use them. So I got him this sharpener and now any time he goes to use one of them he can just run it thru this sharpener and he can't complain about that the knives anymore. So to me this was money well spent. I on the other hand am not one to sharpen knives because I hate the sound it makes but other than that I think it is a great product.

Who likes dull knives that you have to use like a saw? Not me! I really wanted to test this out because I have several paring knives that have seen better days, but I just couldn't bring myself to throw them out. There are 3 slots on this sharpener for various stages of dull knives. Most of mine were pretty bad, so I used slot 1. The slots go as follows: Stage 1 for dull or blunt knives; Stage 2 for daily maintenance; Stage 3 for ceramic knives.I set out to sharpen as many knives as possible, thinking that I could as least have one knife halfway decent if this didn't work. Miraculously, it worked like a charm! Most knives needed a pass or 5 (mine were pretty dull), but in the end, they were all very sharp and I could use them with no problem. I use this sharpener after washing and drying my knives, just before I put them away. I have yet to use the ceramic one, but I look forward to it. If you are looking for a sharpener that will fit all your needs, this is the one for you!
