This is just what I was looking for. It has hinges on both sides to help support My knee. I have an undiagnosed meniscus tear on the inside of my right knee. periodically it likes to pop out / lock when I am playing Basketball or when doing Tae Kwon Do. Requires me to get it back into place before continuing and can be rather painful. For me this is what I needed. It is so far the most comfortable I have tried. I have used it for about 6 months now actively playing ball twice a week and it has given me the support I need for those side to side movements that happen a lot. I cannot compare to a professional brace but I am very satisfied with the results I get when using this one. I particularly like the support from the crisscross velcro elastic both below and above the knee. Make sure you follow the instructions to measure your knee for the right size. just for reference I am 61 years old and was thinking I would be stopping playing but this has allowed me to continue playing the game I love. I also like the donut hole padding around the knee cap. it helps it to not get to hot and has helped protect my knee on multiple occasions. I would definitely recommend this brace and when mine wears out I won't hesitate to buy another one.

When I realized I needed a new brace, I went searching for value. 4 braces tried from 2 different names I'd never heard of and not one of them fit properly. They all had 4 stars, but several reviews touched on the ill fit. Defeated, I went online searching and came across McDavid - a name I'd heard of before and decided to do a brand specific search for them on Amazon. My McDavid brace is the 5th brace I've ordered in 8 days (and 3rd name). The first 4 sent back, but this one is NOT being sent back. It fits everywhere I need it to and the support is EXACTLY what I was looking for. In the end, I spent more than I was wanting to, but the fit, materials, and construction of the brace is completely worth the price, and if I am ever in the position of needing another I will not hesitate one bit to get another. No question! If you are still athletically active and plan on using your brace during competition - go with this brace.

I use my brace while walking on my treadmill. Works great, but I may have purchased a "one size larger" than I needed brace. So I use a leg sleeve and that seems to work.

When my right leg suddenly became inflammed a few weeks ago and I could barely walk, I purchased a Mueller HG80 from my local pharmacy while I was getting my pain killer prescription filled. In a just a few days, my leg had stabilized and was virtually pain free, so I wrote a positive review of the Mueller product. I could wear it all day and I did. I then ordered the McDavid 429 because I play tennis and a tennis player recommended it in an Amazon review. Now I know why. The 429 is a whole other level of support. It fits tighter than the HG80, so I would not want to wear it more than an hour or two, but the level of support is absolutely amazing. The Velcro pads on the HG80 straps are too short, so I can't tighten the brace as much as I would want and it slips down. The McDavid has very long Velco pads that make it possible to snug it up. Also, the knee hole is fully open and seems more functional than the HG80. My knee feels bulletproof in this thing. Lastly, I think the 429 does run one size small and ordering an XXL might be a good idea for medium-sized legs. I ordered the XL because I could get it in 2 days. (Amazon: consider stocking the XXL.)

Well constructed, but sizing information is very murky. Most people were recommending to order up a size if you are in the upper end of the range. For me, this did not work. My knee measured right at the maximum for a large so I ordered up per other reviews. It is definitely too big. I can cinch it down ok on my quad and calf, but I get no support on my patella, cinching it pushes it away from the front of the knee. I recommend ordering true to size. An added note: I believe part of my problem is my build. I have a fairly significant "hourglass" shape to my knees, fairly average bone structure but well developed leg muscles from years in Track and Field. This brace us a little two straight tapered for my knee shape.

Runs smaller than 429R, exchanged for Xlarge and they sent me another large despite a 20 higher price tag. No customer service.

I don't usually leave reviews but I'm so happy with this knee brace that I had to write something. My right knee 20 years ago had outside cartilage removed and I am bone into bone. This injury has caused extra work for the inside of my knee which has resulted in a lot of inside knee pain lately. I golf regularly and mostly walk to get exercise. Over 20 years I've been through many braces but this is the most support with the most comfort I've had from a brace. I recently had the Shock Doctor hinged brace and the hinges being pulled into my knee by the straps hurt the bones in the knee. This McDavid 429X Knee Brace allows you to adjust how tight you want the hinges to your knee (cross straps) and the top and bottom straps help with carrying the load. It is a very flexible brace. I little bulky in size because of the hinges and I have a big calf so it is a little work to pull it up but that is just par for the course with hinged braces. I would buy again.

Nachdem bei mir 3 Orthesen aus dem Sanitätshaus im Praxistest durchgefallen waren (je um die 1600-1800€/Paar; hätte ich auf Rezept bekommen wegen beidseitiger Gonarthrose), bestellte ich aus Verzweiflung diese Orthese. Derzeit bin ich leider etwas übergewichtig und habe ein sehr weiches Bindegewebe. Dazu kommt ein sehr konisch geformter Oberschenkel (also am oberen Rand deutlich breiter als Richtung Knie), was für Bandagen und Orthesen eine echte Herausforderung ist. 2 Orthesen aus dem Fachhandel hinterließen nach 2 bis 4 Stunden so starke Hautreizungen oder Abschürfungen durch das Reiben der Nahtstellen auf der Haut, sodass ein längeres Tragen unmöglich war. Eine andere Orthese rutschte und fiel nach wenigen Schritten vom Bein. Irgend etwas brauchte ich jedoch gegen die Schmerzen. Da ich meine “Problenzonen“ kenne und weiß, worauf ich achten muss, stach mir diese Orthese ins Auge. Nach der Tabelle sollte mir Größe XL mehr oder weniger gerade noch so passen. Diese habe ich dann auch bestellt. Die Lieferung erfolgte am nächsten Tag. Nachdem ich einige Rezensionen zu der problematischen Rückgabe gelesen habe, machte mich das offene “Hygienesiegel“ (runder transparenter Klebepunkt, wie man ihn von vielen Verpackungen kennt) und abgebrochene Stellen an der Verpackung stutzig. Die Orthese sah jedoch unangetastet aus. Also: ausgepackt und am schlimmeren Knie anprobiert. Die Orthese macht einen gut verarbeiteten und wertigen Eindruck. Sie riecht etwas nach Neopren, aber nur, wenn man direkt daran schnüffelt. Das ist ganz normal bei Neopren. Kein chemischer Geruch oder so. Die angegebene Größe passt bei mir ganz genau. Sie liegt sehr eng am Bein, aber das soll sie ja auch, damit sie das Knie ordentlich stützen kann. Dann folgte der Härtetest: 4 Stunden schwedisches Einrichtungshaus und 1 Stunde Babyfachmarkt mit Baby und Kleinkind :-o Bestanden!!! Diese Orthese ist weder verrutscht, noch hinterließ sie Verletzungen an der Haut. Nach 10 Stunden war ich zwar froh, als ich sie endlich ausziehen konnte, aber der Tragekomfort ist tatsächlich bestmöglich! Und die Schmerzen sind weg! Damit stand auch dem Auspacken der 2. Orthese nichts mehr im Wege. Ich trage sie nun 4 Tage lang den ganzen Tag und bin absolut begeistert. Vielen Dank an den Hersteller für die Rettung!

Ottimo tutore per il ginocchio con particolare qualità dei materiali e adattabilità sull'articolazione. È il primo tutore che portandolo tutto il giorno non fa le grinze dietro il ginocchio e non da fastidio, sono presenti fasce a strappo intorno alla rotula che garantiscono un buon contenimento in presenza di traumi o di problemi al menisco. Nel mio caso con il legamento collaterale infiammato ho beneficiato del giunto snodato che mi manteneva in asse ginocchio sostenendolo ma senza mai bloccarlo. Sono veramente soddisfatto e ve lo consiglio vivamente, anche alla luce del fatto che il prezzo è veramente vantaggioso.

Not one to review a product after just getting it, but wow this knee brace is outstanding. Sizing info was spot on based on their measurements and method. My knee pain is near extreme each time I stand up but the first time standing up after putting it on for the first time, no pain whatsoever. Its a little awkward trying to walk with it but I'm sure that's standard when you add something unnatural to your body and takes a bit to adjust. Pain in walking not present as much, barely noticeable. I do not notice the feeling of instability to the sides anymore or sometimes it felt like the knee was going to bend in the reverse way but not with this brace. So happy I decided to give it a try. I measured and it added 3 inches to the circumference of knee, measuring around the knee cap for those of you curious as to bulk.

The Mc David Knee Support was bought to replace an old one that was lost or lent to someone. Thought it was a little large on my initial try on, however in use it is spot on. The added cross straps really add to the support given and the actual mechanics of it allow for much improved bend of the knee than previous braces I've used. It has allowed me to start refereeing rugby again, but what I am really looking forward to is skiing in the new year! Highly recommended!
