Stupid question...  Has anyone ever used this to wring their laundry?

No, never have used to wring laundry, the mophead. But, I guess it could work since it does a good job wringing mop. Good luck with that.

Can you not booby trap your packing by ziptieing the wringer handle so when you cut it the handle whacks you in the face?

I found out the hard way that if you are having trouble attaching the wringer portion you are putting it on the wrong end of the bucket.   While both ends have curves that seem to match the lower portion of the wringer, the boxy end of the bucket is the wrong end-- the curved end that doesn't have the extra lip is the end it should be on.   And it just slips on, TOO easily, actually, there's not much keeping it on but gravity.   But it does work once you figure out which end is the right one...   Otherwise, you'll need a crowbar to bend the plastic enough to get it over the lip, and then it'll tend to fall over because the weight isn't in the right spot--   The wringer should go on the curved end of the bucket that have the caster legs that stick out.   The picture on the box is not all that great and doesn't make it all that clear which end the wringer should be on.

How much water does it wring out?

Honestly, it doesn't wring out that much water. My mop is still sopping wet after I use the wringer. There isn't enough tension on the wringer to remove water out of the mop. You would be better off wringing out the mop with your bare hands because the wringer on this bucket is NOT great. It's not worth the price.
