Can I get this in a Smaller size for thin females or kids?

This will fit someone with an arm circumference of 6.3". I haven't researched to see if they have one that is smaller since this is pretty small.

The two foam discs within the sleeve detached after a few uses. What was their purpose?

The purpose of the neoprene discs at the lower and upper openings of the sleeve is to keep moisture from entering the sleeve. Without, the sleeve is not waterproof and should not be used.

I'm an average size female with larger than average upper arms, approximately 17" as best as I can measure by myself. Should I order the larger size?

Yes, in my opinion, I would order the large. I had the same issue as my arm was 15 and I was reluctant to order the large, I decided to go with the small size. If you order one that is too large, the water from the shower will seep in, defeating the purpose of the cover. I found this product to be a good value and while it is a bit snug for me, it is not that uncomfortable. I would recommend this product to anyone needing such a cover.

How do you wash this picc line protector after shower for next use?

You don’t need to wash it, just let it air dry completely before storing it back in its pouch. It’s a wonderful item and works so well! I have an elbow infection that will take months to heal, so this protector was a great idea.
