Yes, I believe you can connect a USB Stick and record on it. You will need to set up the Box to select the USB recording device.

Record to the external USB HDD connected to your Markus, then copy the .mpg file from REC folder to your iMac.

Q: can this hook up to a amazon fire tv box

No. This Markus 750 isn't that good. Very difficult to hook up. Took me 2 days. Had to buy extra stuff to make it work.

Q: Does it work with satellite? i have directv and i am looking to record without a dvr.

I was looking for a PVR and this wasn't what I wanted so I never did use it. I was too late to return it so I got stuck with it.
