![The Farm Collection (Featuring Victorian, Edwardian and Wartime Farm) [DVD]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81GWi2K8nrL._AC_SL3840_.jpg)

Collection of documentaries following a team of archaeologists and historians as they set out to recreate farming life at various periods in the past. In 'Victorian Farm' Ruth Goodman, Peter Ginn and Alex Langlands take a year out of their lives to find out what rural life was really like on an 1880s farm, as they tend pigs and sheep, cultivate the land and try to survive without modern-day aids. 'Edwardian Farm' sees the trio recreate the experience of life on a farm at the turn of the 20th century. Finally, in 'Wartime Farm' Goodman, Ginn and Langlands attempt to live under the same conditions as World War II farmers. Will they be able to operate a successful farm using only the tools and equipment available in the 1940s?

Great set! Fun and educational!
Fantastic collection. You will need an international dvd or blu-ray player. At least a player that isn't region locked. Set is made for UK regional distribution.

Show content gets 5 stars, problem with one disc
Please note you need a multi-region DVD player to view these discs.I discovered the "farm" series online and wanted to add them to my collection. The shows are great! Historically accurate to the best of my knowledge, educational and entertaining. The content earns 5 stars.I completed watching Wartime Farm and found that the final disc skips and freezes in places. There is no visual damage to the disc that I can see and this is the reason for 4 stars. Watching Victorian farm now and no problems to note. Shipping was quick considering it was international, and a second purchase from the same seller was combined in the shipment, which was great.Overall satisfied. Just be aware that you need a multi-region DVD player if you are in the US and that there may be some issues with skipping.

Not an easy company to work with.
I didnโt understand what the โregionsโ were about. Having just purchased a ridiculously overpriced dvd/blue ray, I thought it would be fine. I was wrong. I was excited to watch this but instead I have to return it paying for shipping it twice. Iโm not happy with the company, and will not be using them again.

The Farm Collection
I love watching these DVD's. I visited Morwellham Quay a few years ago, not long after the Edwardian Farm had aired on television. I went inside Ruth's cottage and saw the boats and other locations used. It was interesting although at that time there wasn't much to see as the site was just getting up and running, and I think more attractions have been introduced now. The Copper Mine ride is very good and well worth having a ride on. We did get wet on and off, so be prepared. The DVD's could be useful for school work as they are easy to watch and contain a lot of information without being boring.

Invaluable insight; this is 'living history' at its best.
I bought this primarily for the World War 2 disc, which I wanted to use for some writing research. I'd seen snippets of the other two series when they were televised, and found them intersting. Revisiting all three I'm seriously impressed by the trouble taken to really show what life was like in each of these three settings, and by the very pleasant and balanced way the facts are mixed in with nostalgic recreation without one ever overwhelming the other. I lent them to my 89-year old mother to entertain her, and she was absolutely overwhelmed by the Wartime series; she said it rang absolutely true to her childhood memories and brought back many which had been lost; there can be no higher praise! I couldn't quite give it 5 because I found the endless cheerful smiling a little bit much sometimes, but apart from that, pretty near perfect.

A Way Of Life
Absolutely tremendous. Life as it was. Explained step by step by step, piece by piece, day by day. This series allows you to understand the hardships and pleasures of the time. It takes you on a journey of living without the modern day contrivances of the 21st century. No local supermarket or electrical store. If you wanted or needed something, you made it.I could write for hours about this series but I would rather you watched it yourself and experience the truth about "having a hard time".
