its a very heavy duty industrial soil plug extractor designed for commercial use. i use it for my home lawn test, it does the job well, however, the plug size is bigger than i expected, definately for bigger area of lawn type, not for small lawn area maintainance. oveall build is very good and work very well. i will recommend it if for big lawn.

This soil tester is made very well. It’s heavy duty and it goes into the Earth easily. You put it on the soil, use the foot lever to push it down, pull it up, and then there’s a plunger to release the test soil. I have a large flower garden and I have to check the soil for my Dahlias so I’m excited about this product. It’s much more substantial than the small ones you see online. It’s very easy to use and it feels good. I would recommend this product.

It is very well made but it is AWFULLY heavy. If I'd known how heavy it was going to be, I might not have ordered it. I still haven't actually even tried it. I've only moved it around.

The first sight I saw this I decided to buy it and try it as an aerator for my lawn. It actually works after I grinder sharpened it (see photo before and after). I had tried various aerators and none of them made me happy and this soil sampler worked. Of course you still need to soak you lawn first and use a bit rotational force to make it work.

Heavy duty soil probe. For commercial use it gets little heavy to carry around a whole field. does not take full soil core samples. Especially in clay soils. The lever to eject the soil probes works but then the soil sample gets pounded out and is hard to break up. Maybe for home use this is ok but then why not get a much smaller probe.

I test the soil in my yard every year and it's always been a challenge due to some physical limitations. This product makes it so easy that I took 35 soil samples within about 45 minutes, including time dividing the samples into 3 separate groups/areas. It works best if the soil is damp. The blade part is very sharp and the plunger makes it relatively easy to remove the samples from the tube. You may have to use something like a screwdriver to help push the sample out of the collection tube if dealing with heavy clay. Cleaned the device with a hose and sprayed the cutting area with WD 40. The device is expensive but it works very, very well.

Worked good for me. I took at least a dozen samples during the first use. The pedal at the bottom did start to bend slightly even though the ground was not very firm. Also had issue with the stopper loosening, due to the vibration, when taping/pushing the soil sample out, but it was not a big deal to hold the plate and spin the handle around to retighten it every so often. Probably could be fixed by a small weld to hold it in place. For the price compared to the others, it got the job done for me.
