If you're anything like me, this is just one of 1000+ reviews you're reading as you search through dozens of clippers/trimmers to cut your own hair/beard at home. Tired of poor results from cheaper options, you're looking for something a little better than what they sell at Walmart. I like a really close cut, but my skin doesn't appreciate the use of a razor. Enter this trimmer. Even with the blades adjusted as far from a zero gap as they will go, this is a pretty close cut. Quite a bit closer than the cheaper wahl clippers I was using before. And the difference in quality is noticeable. While it isn't really intended for use across your whole head and face (all day, in a barber shop), I think it will be more than sufficient for this purpose at home, once every week or two. I'm using it on my whole head and face with no guard, and it gives a result that's about what I'd expect 1-2 days after using a razor. My head feels like Velcro for a day or so after use, if that helps. I haven't had it very long or used it too many times, but I'm happy with it so far. I haven't used the guards, and I doubt I will, but they seem to be decent quality. I will update this review if needed in the future. If there hasn't been an update, assume I'm still happy with the purchase.

This is the second Wahl Detailer I’ve owned, and I absolutely love this product! I can’t tell you how this would perform in a barber/salon environment. I have no training in cutting or styling hair. But if you’re like I was and plan to use this to keep up on your neck in-between haircuts, or use this trimmer to shave shave you face this review may be valuable to you. I get raging razor burn, and I’ve tried everything from creams to lotions, to straigh razors, and even the latest 26 blade Gillette… nothing worked. So I though why not try the trimmer they use when I get a haircut?! I’ve used this trimmer exclusively for the last 2-3 years, and I absolutely can’t tell you how pleased with this trimmer. I’ll say right off that the reason my first trimmer only lasted 2-3 years is because I didn’t take care of the first one like I should have, and I was really hard on it. So, it was my own fault through nothing short of abuse that my first one died. But that sucker put up with countless drops, banging it on the counter, not oiling it for months at a time, and occasionally running it for over an hour at a time. This sucker can take a beating!! When it came time for another one I did the research and looked at my options, and I chose this one again. In my experience it didn’t really ever get hot. Got a little warm, but really stayed pretty cool to the touch. It’s very quiet… unless you beat it against the bathroom sink the knock hairs off for a year. Then it starts to sound like the motor isn’t very happy, but it kept trucking along. My girlfriend and I had a bet to see how long it was going to last, and I won by over a year! I feel like it’s easy to hold, and pretty easy to maneuver around your own face. But I will say watch out if you have the blade set to zero (two screws on the back of the head allow you to advance the blade for a “safer” cutting experience, or you can line the two blades up and get an extremely close cut). You can actually cut yourself if you’re not careful, or if you’re not used to using anything but the ubiquitous Phillips trimmer every guy gets for Father’s Day. So start out on the side of being cautious and go from there. But after you get the hang of it you’ll be a pro in no time! This trimmer works great on the head and neck, and I’ve even used it to shave everything bow to stern. Treat it well, oil the blade, and maybe get a trimmer brush instead of banging it on something to eject loose hairs, and I’ll bet this sucker will treat you well for years to come.

I have to say that when I bought this I was expecting miracles. I have a thick beard and I wanted something that could trim it with one pass. This I have realized is impossible, however, this little detailer is pretty close to perfect for my beard. It comes with 3 separate attachments that I use on my beard. The attachments range from a small stubble to about a 3/8 inch beard. I prefer the middle attachment for the size of beard that I keep. This detailer works well to clean up the edges of your beard if you are in a rush and don't have time to shave, however, don't expect it to cut way too close. You will still have stubble if you don't use any of the attachments. It is great for creating crisp lines around your beard. The cord is sufficient length in my opinion and is quite thick. The build quality of the product is top notch. I like the fact that the blade is adjustable, however, if you are just using it for your beard like me, then you don't need to adjust the blade, unless you want super close lines. I attempted to make the blade zero gaped, however it was too harsh on my skin afterwards, so I adjusted it back to the original setting. Overall I like this product, however, It is not perfect. It would be nice if it was able to cut my beard evenly only after one or two passes and I wish you could buy extra attachments for it.

I orderer this trimmer all the way back in late October of 2023 and it's hard to believe I've even had it that long considering its reliability to this day. What I was looking for when I was shopping for this trimmer was a quality built, corded precision trimmer to line up my mustache, and get a clean shave on the rest of my fast, rather than using shaving cream and a blade. It wasn't clear in other reviews whether or not certain trimmers on the market were good with giving a tight, clean line-up. But if you're someone out there looking for the same thing, I can't recommend this one enough. The fact that I never need to charge it, it's thick and feels like something my barber would have, and it accurately gives me barber level line-ups makes it a must have for all men. I don't use it anywhere but my face because the shave gets super close. Feels like the most expensive, high quality item I have in my grooming tool kit and have no doubt it will last me multiple more years. 100% Recommend!!

I'm not a professional hair stylist. I'm just a man who doesn't want to pay the outrageous prices for a haircut of what little hair I have left. So I bought this t-trimmer to help with trimming around the ears & neck, and I also use it to shave my face. I have fairly sensitive skin so I don't use a straight blade razer anymore. I owned an Andis t-trimmer for years, and then accidentally dropped it, shattering the blade. I picked this one up as a replacement and I feel it has a closer cut when using it on my face. It also cuts the hair the first time through so I don't have to go over spots multiple times like I did with my Andis trimmer. It's 10x lighter than the Andis, much smaller and easier to hold, quieter, and the on/off switch is at the bottom of the base, so I never accidentally switch it off or on while using it. I will say that I can feel the blade a little bit more when using it on more sensitive areas (like on my mustache area under the nose), but I'm pretty sure I could adjust the blade so that it's not as close - but I like the close cut, so I probably won't. There's no cutting/nicking of the skin - it just seems more sensitive in that area. Everywhere else on my face feels fine. If you read the directions, it does say that they rigorously test the blade before shipping it out, which means there will be possible residue of a substance on the blade that you can simply wipe or blow off. I'm not sure if this is what other reviewers were mistaking for an "already used" item or not - but I assure you, mine was brand new out of the box, but had the residue on it. It looked like small tannish-pink colored wax or plastic that I simply wiped off before my first use. The trimmer also comes with a few trimmer guard attachments for longer beards/hair. I used the smallest attachment and it worked quite nicely. There's a guard for the blade too, so it doesn't get harmed wherever you may store it. The package also comes with some oil & a tiny brush, although I have found Wahl's cleaning spray from my local wally world to work quite nicely in cleaning the trimmers I own. For the price, I'm sure I will get a good 10+ years out of this thing if I keep it oiled and don't drop it. This is a solid, well built trimmer, and I'll gladly pay a little bit more for a quality USA made item like this with excellent craftsmanship.

Bought this due to Coronavirus, first "pro" trimmer or clipper I've ever purchased. I used it to trim my beard and give myself the "bald" look. Great experience so far. Beats all the various battery- or rechargeable- "consumer" grade trimmers I've ever purchased, blows them out of the water for the same tasks. I like to buy things that are higher quality that will last, rather than cheap stuff that I have to constantly replace. I got tired of buying my consumer trimmers over and over, realized it was finally time to step up. BTW I bought this over the Wahl Balding clipper since the Balding clipper was out of stock and I also slightly preferred to go with a T-style trimmer for now anyway. And I also bought it over the Andis T-Ouliner since after watching lots of Youtube videos, it seemed the T-Outliner was a bit more maintenance, definitely would get hotter faster, and for a beginner like me, also more difficult to adjust. Nothing against Andis. I just wanted my first "pro" trimmer to be the easiest to maintain and since I'm so slow at trimming, I knew the Andis would overheat long before I was done. Anyway, the Wahl Detailer turned out to be a great choice... perfectly adjusted out of the box, but I checked anyway just in case so I didn't slice my head up. Gave me the best self-cut I've ever had. I don't know the longevity of this trimmer, but I'm very happy I paid the extra bucks over the Andis T-Outliner. Also glad I didn't wait for the Wahl Balding clippers to come back in stock, this definitely did the job I needed. Next up, I plan on buying some regular "pro" clippers too, so I can have more flexibility in what I use these for. I'm thinking of getting the Wahl Senior, Andis Master, or maybe the Oster Model 10 to compliment my Wahl Detailer. Pretty soon I'll have to open a barber shop. ;)

Dear Sir, I have ordered several items from Amazon.com.......in every case I was very pleased. In the case involving the Wahl Clippers, I have Been very displeased.......I am a Celebrity MakeUp artist who works on high profile clients. This job has me to stay on the road quite a bit......when I ordered with the Wahl Clippers, I was in the middle of a 3week press junket tour with my client......I was in NYC , staying at the Walorf Astoria at the time , just arriving from being in Europe for 2 weeks.....the Waldorf is where I had the clippers delivered .......being in NYC I could have very easily had gone out to purchase them , but my time would not allow me to do that, so tht is why I spent the extra money, $20 which was the overnite rush fee , to have them delivered to me . When I received the box, I should have know then that something was unusual because it was not fully sealed .... The clippers also were not in plastic , the plastic that the clippers originally came in was laying beide them in the box ..... The cord was not wrapped as I see new items wrapped when you first receive them and also the bag that the clipper attachments came in were opened and had hair on them ....... I should have sent back then , but because the the pair I had blew out while I was in Paris working, I went on and kept them......... The clippers have been problems since I received them......when I first used them on my client after receiving them, he kept saying "Ouch" , I assumed I was pressing too hard so softened my touch , the screams continued.....I borrowed my colleagues pair and ad no problem.....I tried them on another client and they were not as dramatic but they said the same thing...... The clippers were nicking them......aftr taking a close look at the clippers, I noticed that 2 of the teeth in the center of the blade were broken.......this is horrible because this causes the blade to cut and nick whomever I am working on....I got 3 uses out of the clippers since I got them and when I went back home , I picked up my cordless clippers , they are not as powerful but at least they don't nick , and have been using them until I had time to write to you...... It seems as if you must have read my mind because I received this email today as I am coming home for a 4 day break , before I am back out on the road on the 4th of Sept..... So Amazon , what I do about getting another pair of clippers to replace these .......I do love what these clippers have to offer, but in the state they are in , they are useless...... As a client in good standing , I feel that a new pair is the least I should get and my rush fee returned or something comparable !!!!! Sincerely, Derrick Rutledge
