Rich color, long lasting for my fine hair.
I got this as an alternative to growing out box dye also cut it short. My hair doesn’t hold color long. I’m just cursed with fine hair. My mom has fine hair too. Perms won’t hold more than a week even with all instructions followed to the T and after care. Point is my hair just doesn’t comply and it’s definitely the chemicals. I though my hair just doesn’t have enough surface to hold anything and with box dyes it just washes out and leaves hair stripped of my natural color My hair is shoulder length and I got 2 applications out of this package. . This shade is leaning heavy on the red side but warm tones suet me. The ends that haven’t grown out yet still are much lighter and held the color 5-6 weeks but my natural color held onto the color for more than 8 weeks. Better than 3 weeks with the typical box dye. 2nd application i didn’t process it as long and it’s very warm her so I got heavy red again. I did read the instructions twice; at the start of both uses. It’s seems the ends are holding the color longer this time around. Feels like my hair is softer and healthier than I started with. I will continue purchasing this brand. The smell was okay. I added rosemary essential oils. I’ll try a lighter brown/dark blonde my next go. It’s something you gotta fine tune but I like how soft my hair is weeks after applying it.

Wow.
I may not look like the woman in the picture (disappointing) but I never did. I got this hair color because I can no longer use over the counter color. I have developed a sensitivity to all the products even the 10 min variety. I tried using the Henna Maiden for the first time this morning. I am concerned because it takes 2 to 3 hours and that's a long time to be tied up to a project. I do think I will get faster as I learn how to apply it. I was afraid I would (a) dye my face, sink clothes, walls etc (b) streak my hair and (c) turn my hair orange or some other ghastly color. I am happy to report I did none of the above. I may be tooting my own horn but I think my hair looks great. And although I didn't believe that the texture (ie straw like hair from commercial dyes) would improve that much with the first try, but it really did. My hair although not perfect, is much more silky and I expect it to improve even more as I keep using Henna Maiden. I do smell like a cup of herbal tea, but I'm fine with that. I thought I would need the whole package because I have waist length hair, but I had half of it left. Next time I am going to only mix half the powder and am very pleased that this will cut down on the cost. I am definitely going to continue using Henna Maiden.

Worked well on over treated bleached hair. Worked like permanent hair dye, did not wash out in 8 weeks.
This fixed my over treated bleached hair. I have been coloring my brown hair blond for at least a decade and it had become dry and the color was off, with very subtle highlights of gray and green. It wasn't anything egregious or obvious but it bothered me. I used the "Lively Light Brown" to bring my hair color back to a healthier looking golden blond. It took about 30 minutes to get the color I wanted and based on strand tests, it would have been very easy to get it too dark. I added a tablespoon of vinegar like the instructions suggested. Also, I was worried about red highlights but this was not an issue with the lively light brown. And my hair was VERY bleached so if there was no red on my hair it wont add any red to anyone else's hair either. It worked great and absolutely NO damage, my hair felt great afterwards, even with the tiny amount of vinegar. I strongly recommend doing a strand test to get this right, this "natural organic" stuff is NOT a joke. It is permanent and acts like real hair dye. At least for my color stripped and damaged hair, this was COMPLETELY PERMANENT. Looking at my order history it has been about a year since I ordered this last time. The tips of my hair are now back to being too blond and stripped of color but it took about a year for them to get there. It did NOT wash out in 8 weeks, although it did lighten slightly. This interacted fine with blond commercial hair dye, no weird reactions or unexpected colors. I retouched my roots about 8 weeks later with John Freida medium golden blond hair dye.

Quite an experience but at least there is no Orange!
I love that this product is chemical free. I am not sure if I like the results and I'm currently deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil to try to fade the color. I have naturally dark blond hair that has been chemically dyed for many years. First, I mixed the powder with salt and camomile tea. Second, applying the product is like smearing a fresh cow patty into your head - my little dog always loved to roll in cow patties so I know the smell LOL! Third, it was easy to apply. I wrapped it in the supplied shower cap over which I tied a scarf to keep it in place. I left it on for about 3 hours. Four, it was easy to rinse out in the shower. The instructions say not to shampoo for 48 hours afterward - just use conditioner after rinsing but the smell drove me to shampoo twice and then condition. I used sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Five, my hair was really soft and shiny but much redder and very dark. Much darker and redder than the model. The next night, I put a combination of honey and apple cider vinegar on my hair, put on the cap and slept in it. It did give lighter highlights but the highlights faded within a day and my color seemed to get even darker. A deep reddish walnut color. Six, I am now conditioning with straight coconut oil which is supposed to help fade the color faster. I'd like the color if it were lighter so fading is what I am after. I will probably use this product again but will definitely need to go with a lighter shade or not leave it on so long update The coconut oil treatment really worked and the red tones were tamed. I can now say that I love the color and will definitely use it again.

Warm Golden Tones
It works. I used the Golden Light Brown. My hair is a medium brown shade. If you have virgin hair free of dye it will add shine and boost color. However, if you have bleached or color-treated hair it will not work. It may turn your hair an unflattering shade of orange or red.

Adds beautiful tones to dark hair
I have 3b, very dark brown curls that appear black in low lighting and darkest brown in the sun. I have always wanted to add more dimension to my hair color and in the past my lethal combination of coloring, over using heat products and all around mistreating my curls left me with painfully damaged hair. About 8 months ago, I took a huge risk, gathered all my hair into a ponytail and cut it off. I had about two inches of hair at the back and crown of my hair. And although it (and I) looked terrible, my spontaneous chop was the most foolish and beneficial thing I have ever done for my curls and since, (as I have painstakingly waited for the hair to grow out) I have been extremely careful about the products I use. I decided to try Henna Maiden in lively light brown based on its numerous great reviews and the fact that the henna is completely plant dye based, without synthetic additives. I mixed about half a packet (longer hair will definitely need a full to multiple packets) with hot water and apple cider vinegar, applied immediately, sculpted my hair into a mound on top of my head and threw on a shower cap to keep the heat in and the dye off the rest of the house. I left the henna on for about 8 hours (including sleeping in it overnight with a towel over my pillow) and am very happy with the results. The henna left a golden/red sheen to my hair that is vibrant in the sun and warm and subtle in indoor lighting. I chose to put light brown over my dark hair because I wanted to have as much impact as possible -- if you really want a color change in dark hair, this won't do it -- but if you are looking for some extra dimension and an added tone, this henna is perfect. The process was not damaging at all, but it did leave my hair feeling a bit dry the next day. I am not sure if this was due to the henna or the vinegar, but in the future I may add a few drops of argan or coconut oil to the treatment to keep my hair feeling hydrated.

Not what I expected but still happy
I was tired of using chemical colors to dye my hair, especially now that I"m starting to get silver strands at my roots. So I started researching henna products. I was originally set to go with another company and mix my own, but then I started reading contradictory stuff and just confused myself. Not to mention, it was getting really expensive ordering the different stuff. So, I went with this product already premixed. My hair was a strawberry blonde, blonder on the sides/front, more brownish red at the back/underneath. Sounds tacky, but I liked it and got lots of compliments on it. I knew using this there was a very high probability that I"d get a lot more red in my hair, especially on the blonder parts. I figured it would be a brownish red all over. Nope...it ended up a copper to brilliant red. I like it, it was just a shock because it's not what I was expecting. It did tone down a bit, or I may have just gotten used to it :) I'm going to try to get it more of a brown/red and experiment with mixing different colors. I did do a strand test, but realized after the fact that I did the main dye a bit differently than the test. I was more considered about it turning green with the strand test. Overall, I am satisfied. I can color my hair various shades and do it naturally. Just keep in mind, no two people will have the same results, and be open minded with it. If you can't go with it based on those two philosophies, then don't use henna type products, because you can't use a regular dye to color if you don't like it. Least with henna, you can do it quickly without fear of damaging your hair. Good luck :)
