Is it too heavy for a very elderly woman?

I exchanged mine for the unweighted heated throw. I love my weighted heating pad but the weighted throw was too heavy to use leg rest on recliner. It was not too heavy to handle for me (72) but heavy on feet and too much weight on recliner lift. I love the heated unweighted throw!

Can i plug this into a heavy duty extension cord?
