I bought the 6 x 3 x 2 in. block and cut it into 6 awesome pen blanks. Easy to cut & turn & finishes very well. I just finished this PSI Majestic style pen and I am very happy with the results. The seller is awesome and the product was delivered when promised. I couldn't be happier! 11-04-2021 I bought another block 6 weeks after the first one and it wasn't quite like the first one as it had a few cracks in it. Very beautiful grain and will be able to get 3 or 4 pen blanks from this one. Still a good buy, in my opinion

I ordered this blank for a project I had in mind. I read the reviews first, and even though the reviews were quite good, I realized I might receive a blank that had a split in it. I did not. In fact, the piece of ironwood I received was beautiful - the grain was rich and full and it was milled just fine with no splits. With a little Danish oil and a bit of fine sanding, this will become a finished piece that will fit my needs perfectly. Thanks!

The colors are beautiful ranging from light yellow to a deep dark brown-almost black. There were however a couple of cracks through the wood. The cracks did not make it completely unusable, as for this ornament I just cut the 2 in.² from the side that did not have any cracks in it. The wood is Extremely hard but somewhat brittle at the same time. I know that does not make any sense however when turning on the lathe, I had a small catch and part of the wood literally shattered! There were many design changes during the process of making this ornament thus the lack of a true finial on top. This is due to it shattering. I believe that is the best way to describe it is shattering! Scared the crap out of me! All in all very beautiful wood. I ended up with one 2in. Sq. block and two- 7/8 inch pen blanks. I did not have my respirator on when cutting it on the table saw but I quickly realized that a respirator is an absolute MUST!! I’ve never really had a bad reaction when cutting/sanding/turning wood. I have turned all sorts of different species however this almost immediately made me have a hard time breathing, so I stopped and went outside for some fresh air and then I went and grabbed my respirator. And for the reviews saying that it looks nothing like the picture, if you have ever worked with wood then you will know that two pieces from the same tree can look completely different!

I failed to read through the half of page of description provided for this item. I thought I was getting the item pictured and I did not. The wood block pictured is exactly what I was looking for, a very light golden colored piece. What I received was on the other end of the spectrum dark brown. So i was disappointed. Just know whatever you get will be a crapshoot. All Desert Ironwood is beautiful stuff, but I had a specific need for that light golden grained one in the picture. They should be more straight forward in the advertising instead of hiding that fact like 5 bullets down in the very bottom of the descriptions. Lessoned Learned.

It is actually ironwood and it was a decent piece the only complaint I would have is a small piece of outside bark is on it that is the white part of the wood in these pics, but 95% was good so no big deal. It is a pretty good looking piece and it will work well for what I intended to make.

Item was as described (nice quality), and delivery was prompt. This was a gift for a family friend, who loves woodworking.

Wood arrived. Cracks on both ands. 1/4 on adge crack almost right through. No bueno!
