She complains about other sailing gloves having too much fabric between her** A: We've had customers use these for sailing and they seem to be perfect for the job. However, with your wife having arthritis, she may have some slightly different requirements. The palms of the gloves are slightly padded, but not hugely, and where it is not padded, the palm side is faux leather, which becomes very soft when wet. So we think these could be suitable for your wife. We suggest you take advantage of our no risk policy and if your wife does not like the gloves (even after use), simply return them for a refund. **Q: What is the purpose of the small black elastic bands on the back of the third and fourth fingers? Seems like it would just catch on things.** A: Although these gloves are directed toward people who fish I bought them for water sports that involve paddles and for snorkeling. Based on reviews, other people have bought them for non fishing reasons. The bands might be for holding fishing flies but I'd ask the company. They never interfered with anything I was doing and they are light weight, comfortable, and dry quickly. **Q: How is the grip? When driving my boat the steering wheel is made of stainless steel and very slick would these provide the same grip as my hands?** A: For the most part, the grip side of the gloves are made from a suede like material that provides an excellent grip (assuming you get the correct glove size). The grip side, however, has a palm protector patch that is leathery/vinyl and my experience is that it is more slippery than a hand on smooth objects, such as an auto steering wheel or door knob. The upside of the palm protector patch is that it provides a better grip on working tools such as a rake. **Q: can these be used for swimming in the pool?** A: We haven't tried it in the pool. However, they are lightweight and would not hold a lot of water in the synthetic leather part and certainly nothing in the lycra on the top. People have bought them for sailing and fishing where it is highly likely the gloves would get wet, so we think the pool may be fine. However, as mentioned we haven't used them in the pool ourselves. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Better than SUNSCREEN *by R***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2016* I am born and raised in Florida, and therefore I have spent my life in the sun. I fish frequently on my 22' Skeeter Bay Boat. Fishing behind mangroves for Snook and Redfish keeps my hands in the sun throughout the entire trip. After my last outing, I was surprised to have huge red burn areas on the backs of both my hands. THIS SCARED ME. My wife suggested using sunscreen, but that is not going to work. Sunscreen and live bait do not mix, the scent would be on the bait and the fish are simply not going to bite. Additionally, I dip my hands in the water often to release a fish or just simply to rinse my hands and sunscreen would be gone pretty quickly and again now leaving a scent in the water as well. I found these gloves and thought I would give them a try. THEY ARE THE PERFECT SOLUTION. VERY VERY flexible. They fit perfectly and I love the Velcro strap that adjusts to whatever tightness you desire. This keeps them solidly in place. I use light to medium weight tackle and these gloves allow me to handle hooks with ease, where thicker gloves are cumbersome. Easy to reel, and put your hand right down in the water to land your fish. They dry super quick. The palms have a sort of leather material to add strength. It also protects you from fins. I should have had these years ago, but all I can say now is I feel comfortable being out in the sun. And they look cool! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for kayaking *by A***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2023* These worked out very well. I just bought a second pair so that when these get wet I can put dry ones on. Great price. To be determined how well they hold up. But comfortable and lightweight. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent gloves. Missing one feature for frequent users *by M***J on Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019* These gloves feel and wear as decent gloves. As with many other UPF products I have to believe they hold the UPF50+ norm, as there is no way to verify. Seeing some test results on manufacturer website would be nice. I would like also to recommend a simple improvement that would simplify use and possibly extend life time of these gloves. I suggest to add fabric/string loops between fingers that would make it easier to take these gloves off. I had these loops on other pair of fingerless gloves and they really make it easier to take gloves off plus they can be used to hang the gloves out to dry. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/182806962-fingerless-fishing-gloves-certified-sun-protection-upf50-block-kayak-hiking](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/182806962-fingerless-fishing-gloves-certified-sun-protection-upf50-block-kayak-hiking) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
